FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery and Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green-spaces of any other European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College holds the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

Being one of the most youthful European cities, Dublin has a vibrant nightlife scene with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

The Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish holiday, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, a self-catering apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

Dublin is a wonderful city with immense history.

Dublin is a wonderful city with immense history. The LIttle Dublin Museum is fun and worth 35 minutes. Take advantage of walking tours, download and listen. Go to Trinity Uni, Book of Kells, the Library, & Immigration are a must.....eat at restaurants serving local, good food. Walk almost everywhere. I am an elder and had no trouble getting around. And, there is a great taxi app too. Temple Bar area is interesting, but not the place to spend much time.

We stayed in the Temple Bar area. Very lively. Full of restaurants and bars. Walk ability from our hotel. Booked day tours and meet locations were no more than a 5 or 10 minute walk. Definitely pack for all weather. We went in Mid-April. Had rain one day; however, it was cold and windy.

All the tours were wonderful. The drivers were excellent. They talked and explained all about the tour all about the castles that we went to visit. It was exciting. We went to the cliffs of moher and some of the Harry Potter movies were made there plus others, and some of the castles movies were made. There also so all in all our trips or rather tours were excellent and we were able to sample? some of their famous beer came with trip when we toured the Guinness beer company it was wonderful the city was clean the people were kind and helpful and shopping was terrific whatever you wanted to eat, they had it many different cultures there we went to a Celtic dinner show that was wonderful also We learn to use the bus, walked home late at night and it was secure and we also used taxis and Uber and they were not expensive so getting around was great

It was certainly not an iconic city.

It was certainly not an iconic city. The only reason we went there was to visit my brother, who moved there four months ago. Nor did we find it a particularly scenic city, though there are some nice parks. We did enjoy the numberous "buskers" (street performers) who were plentiful. We had some excellent dining, as the sea food is excellent. The "Sole" restaurant was great. The people were delightful wherever we went and seem to love Americans and our president, Joe Biden, as he is of Irish ancestry. Be sure to visit the Famine Exhibition to learn of the horrors of those seven years and of the inredible cruelty visited on the Irish during those famine years as well as the centuries of oppression and brutality foisted on the Irish. The saying goes, "God caused the blight, the English caused the famine." Go to nearby Howth, only a 25 minute train ride north of Dublin (costs 5 euros). A scenic fishing town, with beach, sea wall, excellent sea food restaurants and a busy working harbor. Guiness on tap is MUCH better than the bottled version in the U.S.

Dublin was a very nice city to visit.

Dublin was a very nice city to visit. It's easy to access transportation and get around the city, but have a map when walking as it can get confusing. Everyone is very friendly and there is a lot to see. There are lots of pubs and restaurants and the food is fantastic. For such a busy city, it is relatively quiet and I felt safe. The only odd thing is that there aren't many trash cans, but the street sweepers seem to be very busy. We were there on St Paddy's Day and, even with all the extra people around, it was really nice. I would recommend Ireland in general because it a beautiful country with wonderful friendly people.

The exciting thing about Dublin, that its educational then fun. The stone walls dictate the strong family unit and work ethics that are still strong today. Not to forget the strong understanding of the irish immigrants of yester year. But you aregyaranteed tohave fun inthose beautiful pubs with a creamy pint of Guinness.

I had established in advance with the hotel that we could leave our bags early, before check in time, but when we arrived our room was ready which was great. The location is great if visiting Dublin city centre - it was just off O'Connell Street and a couple of minutes easy walk to the Abbey Theatre, where we were headed. The staff were lovely, the beds were comfortable, the aircon kept the room at a comfortable temperature, the room was very quiet, and the shower was great. There was a safe in the room.

Right from the start to the end, our stay was perfect. Reception and ground staff were very friendly and helpful and rooms were beautifully decorated and clean. As it was our wedding anniversary, we were also surprised with homemade brownies in our room. Hotel is very centrally located in Dublin City centre and only seconds away from shops, restaurants, museums and bars. I'll definitely be keeping this hotel in mind when returning to Dublin in the future.

Amazing experience from start to finish. As it was our honeymoon, they upgraded us to the Royal Suite at no extra charge. The suite was simply the best place we've ever stayed. Rainwater shower, huge comfortable 4 poster bed, and our own observatory complete with telescope so we could see all of Dublin. The meals were good and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We loved our stay at Clontarf and we will be back when we visit Ireland again!

This hotel is in the centre of Dublin, so they provide earplugs as it can be noisy. It's a great location, right in the city centre near pubs, shops and restrauants. It was a little challenging to find as its in a laneway. The staff were great, the hotel also provides free fruit (always appreciated) and water. Room was clean with the basic necessities only, bed, ensuite, chair and hangers. It wasn't too noisy when the window was closed.

This is probably the nicest, cleanest, best run Hostel we've stayed in, in many years of traveling around Ireland. Clean, clean! Great mattresses, pillows a bit thin, but that's the only negative comment I can make. Nice self catering kitchen, has a car park inside the gated courtyard, a huge bonus in Dublin. It costs €10 a night extra, but well worth it. It's close to city centre and transit systems. I'd recommend this to anyone.
