Mapusa is a rapidly growing tier 2 city in the heart of Goa and the erstwhile capital of Bardez, the upper half of the State. Home to the Bahmonns and a lot more wildlife. Proceed with caution :). The city is not a popular tourist spot, but a key hub for bus transit to the hundreds of beachside resorts close by. From a footfall perspective, Pednem and Mopa are the new action points. Mapusa is good if you want to be a bit far from the hustle bustle of the beach & tourist, yet you can drive down in 10-15 minutes. Also you are accessible to the highway so you ca go to Panaji or other places quickly.
