A nice and relaxing traditional semi-desert town with the friendliest people (and cows) you can meet. You can just wander around and enjoy. Nobody would harass you, just friendly people greeting you, young and old, and friendly cows, of course.
You can visit the town's attractions or simply sit and enjoy observing the vibrant local life.

The Jaisalmer fort is located on top of a rock.
The Jaisalmer fort is located on top of a rock. Inside the fort there is old town. There are private houses inside the fort. Walking around the small small lanes is very interesting. But be very careful about the local people. They will try to cheat you somehow or the other. Even if you take a guide, the guide will make you pay double the money because they get commission whatever you spend during your visit.
I have seen people sitting next to me in a terrace, paying INR 500 for two coffees and I paid the same coffees INR 140. Because their guide told the waiter to take INR 500 from them. It was so sad… people of Rajastan specially guides and drivers and shop owners are looting foreigners.

Jaisalmer was definitely more touristy, then the other cities we had visited before. In a way, this made our short stay there more comfortable. People on the street were friendly and greeted us, without trying to sell us anything.

A very good combination of History, Culture, Gastronomic delights and contemporary sightseeing. I recommend the Jaisalmer Fort Or the Golden Fort (has historical artefacts), the War Museum, Gadisar Lake and the surroundings, Folklore Museum and Desert Cultural Centre (set up Shri Nand Kishore Sharma, 94 years old, in1983. The Desert Cultural Centre also hosts a puppet show (two showings a day) in the evening.

"glamping" one night in desert big mistake.
"glamping" one night in desert big mistake. Better to stay in town and go out to desert for camel ride. Recommend getting a tour around the fort an old city. Found a guide on Getyourguide and he was great. Wyra on the roof of the Marriot is a good spurge for dinner and nice views of fort at night.
This hotel is the perfect place to stay in Jaisalmer! Nice location, the staff is fantastic, Yakub and Rahm always went above and beyond to accommodate us. First they upgraded our room for free, the beds are comfortable and the decor is authentic. You are given free beverages throughout the day! Also, the hotel is immaculate and the food at the rooftop restaurant is delicious, apart from the wonderful view of the fort, that even offered to drop us off at the railway station. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the city
The hotel is in a quiet lane around 5 to 7 minutes walking distance (Around 2 minutes drive) from main market Area. The room size and bathroom size is big. The bed is very comfortable. The hotel has a decent size pool, though we did not use it as it was very cold weather. The hotel is a like a palace turned in to a hotel (like many hotels in Rajasthan). Location wise, this is the best place to stay in Jaisalmer for those who are looking at staying in a luxury hotel without paying exorbitant charges.
We absolutely cannot fault the service of this hotel. We arrived late and they stayed up for our arrival including the chef who made us a meal despite the restaurant being closed. We were only booked in for one night, but the hotel became our base for the next two days while we were in and around Jaisalmer on a safari. The hotel was kind enough to let us use all their facilities. We really appreciated the welcome received. This hotel camel safari very nyc friendly camel men and car driver
It was a wonderful experience. The hotel is located at a prime location. The host is very cooperative. It feels like a home away from home. Rooms are spacious, clean and the service is really good. Food is also nice. The view of the Jaisalmer fort from the window and the terrace is worth the price alone. Highly recommended.Mr. Swaroop, the owner is a very helpful person. The house help who is Mr Swaroop too, is at hi toes always to be at your service. Have a great stay.

– We had a 1-night stay in this hotel and the overall experience was very good! The staff was helpful and helped us with all the small requests as well. Our room was clean and the facilities were in a good condition. We had a small hot water issue, but the staff solved it right away, which was very helpful. Breakfast was also nice. We had our dinner and tea on the rooftop terrace of the hotel, where we could enjoy the night view of the Jaisalmer Fort.
The hotel staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel was fully booked and we reached Jaisalmer early in the morning. The staff allowed us to wait on the terrace until the room was ready. The hotel has a good location and a beautiful terrace where you can enjoy your drink or meal. Clean spacious room and hot water, what more could you ask for?
Hotel Mirage is a beautiful place located inside the fort. The room was better than the pictures and it was the perfect place to stay in Jaisalmer. The hotel also has a nice cafe with a beautiful view. Ba is a very nice host and was very flexible. He made our stay even better:) We stayed in the suite for three nights.
We arrived at the hotel at 5 am and were immediately checked in. The owner Talim surrounded us with attention and care from the first minutes of our arrival. He organized us a wonderful camel safari tour at a very good price. I would have stayed longer in this house. If we return to Jaisalmer we will only stay here.
Stay at this hotel is amazing. The host is very humble person .He picked us at 6am in the morning from railway station. Rooms are quite spacious and clean. You can get the amazing view of Jaisalmer fort from the roof top. Host even arrange 3 wheeler for the city tour. Overall experience is very good.
In the hear of Jaisalmer Fort, incredible location, every attraction of Jaisalmer is walkable from there. The rooftop is amazing and the view also from up there. We had dinner on there rooftop and the restaurant is also good

Excellent hotel to stay. Good ambience. Owner is very cooperative and staff is also excellent. Guided properly for our jaisalmer trip and desert safari. Nice place to stay.
We have taken our breakfast out side the hotel and location is very good just behind the Jaisalmer Fort (Sonar Kella). Hotel staff was co-operative and friendly.
