Alice Springs is a city with many problems that only they can resolve, however it is the closest place to Uluru to fly to from most cities in Australia. The Doubletree nextdoor would be a much more desirable place for many travelers to spend a night. If staying longer, there are many interesting attractions, including a world-class animal preserve, to enjoy. The advice many Australians gave us was to avoid downtown. I would concur. We needed to do some grocery shopping prior to driving to Uluru, so we had no choice.

A place on the decline.
A place on the decline. Very few local businesses still open or operating. Few options other than pub meals available. Drinks in local bars very expensive. Do not go out on your own in town after 2100 hrs. Be prepared to be humbugged by the local indigenous people. Thought I was travelling through parts of South Africa with high fences and barbed wire. Can't see myself returning again, there's no reason.

First we visited the Town's Information center, Staff were excellent and provided all information we needed for our 3 day tour, Places we visited , West and East Macdonald ranges, Anzac Hill / Tower, There are lots of Gauges and natural landscapes are breathtaking,
There are places you can eat, and buy things that you need ,
but make sure to carry sufficient liquor as only 3 days that bottle shops are opened, and limited hours,

It was a nice town that has been effected by covid - not as bustling as it used to be with most shops on Todd Mall closed down but there are efforts underway to revitalise which will be great - fantastic to see all the local art

LOCALS ARE GREAT. THE TOWN IS GREAT. VERY RELAXED.
LOCALS ARE GREAT. THE TOWN IS GREAT. VERY RELAXED. JUST AVOID THE WHINGERS RUNNING HOTELS AND ANYONE NOT BORN IN AUSTRALIA. THEY GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO SCARE AND PUT FEAR INTO VISITORS FOR NO GOOD REASON AND DO NOT EMPLOY ANY AUSTRALIANS.
We stayed at the Mercure for a night either side of hiking the Larapinta Trail. The hotel was clean and the room spacious. The staff were generally friendly but seemed to be mainly new employees who still had a lot to learn about the hotel and were quite slow with the check in/check out processes. The food in the restaurant was ok, not spectacular but ok. The hotel is a little out of town but we didn't mind the 10 minute walk.
Good priced accommodation in Alice Springs
Comfortable, spacious room with everything we needed - tea/coffee facilities, toiletries, towels etc
Good hotel facilities including reasonable laundry services and BBQ area
Staff were helpful and will help you to order a taxi if needed
Location was ok and short walk to local shops and restaurants
Clean rooms and reception area
Secure luggage storage facilities
The hostel is probably the most unusual I've ever been to but that's exactly what makes it so awesome and memorable. I literally slept in an old-fashioned trailer which wasn't big but for a night or two it's all I need :) The kitchen was clean and there was enough space in the garden to just hang around. If I ever come back to Alice Springs I'll definitely check in here again :)
The apartment was spacious for 2 persons and quite comfortable too. The place was clean although the front yard needs some mowing. However that had no impact on our stay. The kitchen was adequately equipped for fixing simple meals and the knives were even sharp, a frequent complaint of my husband. Alice Springs is not a big town so we didn’t have to drive far to shop for food.
Central location, easy to find. Undercover secure parking, Exceptional staff, we had a small fault in our room and it was fixed immediately and they even compensated us , the apartment was beautifully set out , well maintained and had everything you could need, Including a washing machine. Absolutely 5 stars.
We have stayed here on many occasions on our trips from Adelaide to Darwin, friendly staff, clean rooms, good facilities and right next door to the hilton hotel with good restaurants and the casino just down the street. Highly recommended.
Loved the quick check in process. Cold aircon with comfy bed. Great water pressure - best shower I’ve ever had when I’ve stayed in Alice Springs! Best part was the ability to have my lil mate🐶 stay with me in the room.
I liked the “home setting” in Alice Springs. I LOVED the owners, Kathy and Carl. The swimming pool and the beautiful lawn and the fresh eggs from the pet chickens just added to the fun of “Kathy’s Place.”
Felt like a haven in Alice Springs. A great outdoor space along with other hangout spaces meant you could spend all day at the hostel. Free baggage storage was so handy. It felt very safe and clean.
Location to Alice Springs town and the facilities of Diplomat were good.
Staff at “Uncles” bistro had a very busy easter weekend, did well and were for the most part friendly.
Restaurant was great, staff lovely, it was a welcome change to the previous hotels we have stayed in on our trip. Would thoroughly recommend this resort.
