The old town within the walled city has plenty to explore. Lots of places to eat and drink. We went on an interesting walking tour which explained the history of the city.
We were only there a day as walking the Camino Primitivo but could easily have stayed longer.

The city is beautiful and has lots to offer… for example the Cathedral has an impressive museum upstairs on the gallery as well as a stunning altarpiece and stained glass windows; the tourist information office has an important exhibition about the Roman wall, which is apparently the most complete walled city in Europe. You can walk all the way along the wall in about 45 minutes.
Coupled with this, there are amazing bars and restaurants with friendly locals and the Playa de Las Catedrales, north of Lugo is the most stunning beach I’ve ever seen.

Mostly pedestrian within the walls, so easy to wander through interesting streets and you can do full circuit of the Roman walls, about 2k, wide path and views over city.Other Roman remains slightly disappointing although the mosaic house was worth visiting. We also enjoyed the exhibition on the Camino in the regional tourist office. Panels in Gallician, Spanish and English. Helpful attendant showed us costume display, garden and gave us leaflets for the different Camino routes.

Lugo is a good place to visit for a day or overnight trip - the Roman walls and old town offer good options for sightseeing- walk the entire wall and then there are many fabulous bars and restaurants - great Tapas - it is not touristy
Hostal Alba is a gem in a wonderful city. It’s location is centrally located and convenient to stairs to the Roman wall, the cathedral, restaurants and bars. I visited Lugo by bus after hiking the Portuguese. The hostel is within 300 meters from the bus station and is within the walls. Pedro is an incredible host who’s efforts maybe stay a delight. He provided a map and made personal annotations to it to open the city up based upon my interests. He, like this hostel are gems in the town of Lugo.
A beautiful brand-new apartment right in the center of Lugo. Very spacious with all comfort you need. The interior feels like a boutique hotel. The bathroom was just great, We were happy to use the washing machine. The reception was perfect. The lady was happy for us to take our race-bikes to the room, which is a great comfort on a long distance trip. Lugo was a great surprise and a don't-miss town on the Camino to Santiago. The apartment is ideally located. Quit but near the center.
We are walking the Camino Primitivo and I fell in the road just before we arrived. The owner was incredibly helpful. He got me ice for my injury, and helped us find a 24 hr pharmacy. It all made me feel so much better. Also the property is extremely clean, bright, and comfortable with a nice attached bar & restaurant. It is in an excellent neighborhood about 1 km easy walking down a lovely boulevard to reach the city center. Next time I am in Lugo I will stay again.
The apartment is very spacious and the kitchen has basic stuffs. The fridge is as well spacious and has a freezer. WiFi works without problems and the TV has many channels and most films can be watched also in the original language. The bed, although not looking promising, was surprisingly comfortable and the Tempur (or Tempur-style) pillow a nice surprise. The apartment is close to a huge supermarket and to the Roman Wall and Lugo's center as well. And it was quite.
After 10 days of sleeping in albergues, this is a definite treat you should indulge in. It is right next to the main plaza, and they have an amazing rooftop restaurant for your meals. The breakfast is well worth the cost - especially as you’re heading back on the Camino. We loved this place so much we decided to take a day off from walking and spend it in Lugo. The late checkout was phenomenal. It’s very clean, well appointed, and the staff speak great English.
Perfect and charming host!
The location is great, Inside and near to the wall. A lot of bars and restaurants in these vivid neighborhood,
If you come by car a paid parking is available close to the gate and hotel.
Ask for a room at the back if your intention is to get an early sleep.
Nice, very clean and spacious room and bathroom.
Excellent value for money.
I recommend it heartily to anyone visiting the beautiful city of Lugo!
Yes, this place is ranked high for a reason - it is that good. Few steps away from the historic city center, everything still smells fresh new. Generous breakfast with individual made hot dishes, no problem with really late check-in, super-friendly staff and home-away-from-home atmosphere. Would definitely stay again when in Lugo!
The hotel location was fantastic. I could look out my window and see people walking on the wall. I could easily walk to the center of the city and to wonderful restaurants. The hotel was very comfortable and quiet. Staff were very friendly and assisted me with everything I needed. Breakfast was wonderful!!!
My partner had to stay at the hospital for a few days in Lugo. I didn’t want to stay in town. The hotel staff were very helpful my entire stay. They did their very best to take care of me and make me feel comfortable and safe. Alicia, the receptionist, was absolutely wonderful.
It is a very nice hotel, located within walking distance from the historic center and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Carla and Marco in the reception area were incredibly helpful giving us directions and recommendations as to where to go for the best use of our time.
Bedroom small but comfortable for our one night stay. Secure garage parking for our motorcycles. Easy to find hotel. Food issues were of slight concern but we got there. Staff were first class, especially Tall lady in restaurant and Borsa at reception. Great guy.
The location was perfect because it was close to all the sites. The worker at the front desk was exceptionally nice and helpful! We will definitely go back to it if we are in the vicinity! It was nice to stay in a different place other than a hotel.
it’s a sweet little apartment that is particularly conducive for more than one night in Lugo. we only had the one night, so it was more than what we needed. But, they had little extra things left for us for our breakfast, etc. very nice.
Very modern, compact hotel, lovely rooms with comfortable beds, en-suite bathroom facilities great as well, very central location, 2 minutes walk to Roman wall access, good breakfast Choice in chic, modern dining area
The location was wonderful. The Apartment is next door/above a restaurant within the walls of Lugo. The apartment had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The breakfast provided was great.
