Excellent location in the center of Akureyri. The room was very large. Our room was quiet and we were unbothered by the bar on the first floor. The beds were very comfortable and I loved the large closet.
I also really liked the Icewear Cat. She’s so cute.

The design and layout of the property were breathtaking and filled me with comfort. I slept handsomely :) the view is so captivating from each room’s lanai, I just kept look out at it while I was in room…I loved it so much I spent an extra night! The host Þorarinn was a great help in many cases from suggestions to accommodations, so thankful for him. Breakfast from 8-10am is lovely and if you like peaceful night sleep this is for you

Check in was smooth, the front desk clerk was warm and welcoming. The whole hotel interior is beautiful and honestly this room was BY FAR THE BEST (yes deserved all the caps lol) that my husband and I stayed in during our week in Iceland. The bed was so comfortable, the shower was great and best of all they actually had a blackout curtain that blacked out the light. Ooh and the breakfast was really good too, one day when we come back we are definitely choosing this location again. This hotel and Akureyri was a highlight of our trip, I wish we could have stayed a few more nights.

Breakfast was the old-fashioned Icelandic spread, which was delicious. The grounds are beautiful, facing the fjord, with walking paths and a cool observation tower.

Nice place to stay while visiting sites in North Iceland.
Nice place to stay while visiting sites in North Iceland. We were able to see the Northern lights while there in early October, but our lodging was slightly out of the main city lights. Nice restaurants and easy to walk around. Botanical garden was a very nice place.

Great place for a day trip, or two.
Great place for a day trip, or two. Limited eating options (compared to Reykjavik). The lagoons (Forest lagoon / Myvatn) are worth a visit. There are of course also some nearby waterfalls. There's a fantastic petting zoo which is definitely not to be missed.

Nice small city . Surprisingly bug infested in late summer.
Nice small city . Surprisingly bug infested in late summer. Wonderful sights nearby. Very few free parking lots . Dettifoss was awe inspiring. There are steam venting sites worth visiting. There are crevasses separating American and European plates you can walk across caves and crevasses where Game of Thrones was filmed . Restaurant 23 is a great fish restaurant

Akureyri is a beautiful little town in N. Iceland. Super picturesque, at the base of a fjord. We booked a whale watching tour with Keli Sea Tours and saw humpback whales.
Everything is walkable and there are some great restaurants, especially Strikið, where I had the best piece of salmon I have ever eaten.
The botanical garden is free and beautiful. The kids loved the little Christmas house on the edge of town.
If you are driving the ring road, you must stop here!

We was looking for local food but no one. we could find only pizza, burger, fried chicken restaurant. And we was found food truck which owner is very rude, we not recommend there but anyway bakery at the corner was very good.
The location was walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The view from our room was the apartment building across the way plus a mini park with a slide- was fun if you like to people-watch. The bar/restaurant downstairs served a great breakfast with homemade eggs, bacon (was a bit too salty though!), melons/fruit, cereal, continental items, and many juices to choose from (plus coffee, etc.). Room had a tv, water kettle, and small refrigerator. There was a small kitchenette to use on our floor too!
Our stay at Hotel Sveinbjarnagerdi was absolutely wonderful. The location is just a 10 minute drive to downtown Akureyri but it feels like you’re in the countryside. The rooms are cozy and clean with a great view of the fjord. Breakfast and the facilities were great! Hop in the hot tub and chill in the sauna! The price can not be beat for what you get. The best part was the wonderful family who owns and runs the hotel. They were lovely and generous like everyone we met in Iceland. Highly recommended.
The bungalow was very comfortable and cosy, located in the woods. Fairytale and very romantic place. There is a queen size bed, video option with movies, table and small kitchen inside. The bathroom was enough big. We will recommend for dinner the Eyri restaurant on the lake, only 10 minutes away from the property. It´s a gourmet one (higher price level) but all very tasty with an excellend wine choice. Near Akureyri we will highly recommend also to visit the Forest Lagoon (thermal baths).
This was our second stay at Hotel Dynheimar in Akureyri for a work trip. We like the convenience of being able to check in ourselves. The design of the place is amazing, great vibe. The rooms are just what you need for a quick stay where you are not planning on hanging out at the hotel. The location is also perfect for exploring the town of Akureyri on foot. The hotel restaurant, which is located in another building is very good and cozy.
the larger room was very comfortable . THE ONLY issue we had was the noise from the bar and it's patrons until 4am! my son and daughter in laws room was on the 2nd floor and at thr front of the hotel. they got absolutely NO sleep the 2nights we were there. if you stay there pay the extra money for the larger rooms on the 3rdfloor. it was near some very good restaurants.
Hotel Akureyri is a unique boutique hotel with quirky features such as a record player and vinyl in the room. Each room is named after a movie quote (ours was "ET phone home") with no need for keys because you have a code to get in. Check out simply consists pressing a checkout button. An excellent breakfast buffet was included.
As always, Icelandair hotels confirm to be the most reliable hotel chain in Iceland (a country characterised by overpriced and disappointing hotels). The hotel is on top of the hill, a short walk from the high street. Nice and comfortable rooms, we didn't have breakfast nor dinner, so can't comment on that.
I had only one overnight in Hotel Kea, and I really liked it: large comfortable room, substantial breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is centrally located beside the lovely cathedral, and just a very short walk to the picturesque seafront area. I loved my short stay.
We use this apartment hotel almost always we travel to Akureyri. The location is great. In the center of town and close to the great swimming pool. The rooms are spacious and guest beds are great for teenagers. Good to have a fridge as well.
We loved our stay at Kea Hotel! It is in the perfect location in the middle of downtown. There was free parking close by. We utilized their laundry service which was free and timely! The staff was very helpful and friendly!
Comfortable beds. Obviously newly renovated room. Great breakfast. Employees helpful and kind. Hotel location could not be better. Walking distance to restaurants and Main Street.
Definitely stay there again.
Small room, could be cleaner, there was long black hair in the bathroom and corners of the room, also a lot of flies. Breakfast was in the restaurant area, good, but again a lot of flies landing on the food.
I stayed at multiple places in Iceland and this was by far the largest and fanciest!
In-hotel restaurant, hot tub, absolutely stunning views and the staff was incredibly friendly/accomodating!
