Motorcycle parking was good but a little too small. One vehicle was parked too close and thereby restricting the motorcycle parking. That vehicle may have been an owner or staff member, as it was there for several days, but this is just my suspicion.

Really great place to be out of the madness. We stayed at the Royal River Kwai which was stunning. It was quiet, there was bird song. We took a river tour and went to an elephant sanctuary where we fed the elephants after helping them wash in the river and walking with them in the jungle. We didn't have enough time to do the train trip too and the main town area looked fun to check out - which we didn't have time to do either. We stayed 3 days here - I would recommend staying 5 or more - especially if you want to have days where you do nothing.

Great to visit such an important wartime location and experience just a tiny bit of what many prisoners of war had to endure. As with all sites like this, it’s not somewhere you go for fun, but it’s an important part of history and keeps the memory alive

Kanchanaburi was a fun place to stay for two nights.
Kanchanaburi was a fun place to stay for two nights. Erawan waterfall was definitely worth a visit. I was there in early March and other waterfalls in the area I was told might not be worth the trip due to having less water. Erawan has much less water this time of year than the rainy season, but it was still a very beautiful place to visit. I enjoyed the railroad museum and seeing the bridge over the river Kwai. There are good food and coffee options in Kanchanaburi and the train from Bangkok was a fun (but hot) experience.

Fantastic city to expand your knowledge of WWII. The Bridge.
Fantastic city to expand your knowledge of WWII. The Bridge. Thai-Burma Railway Museum (don't waste your time with any of the others). Commonwealth graves immaculately maintained. Hellfire Pass an hour away (watch The Railway Man before you go). Also great golf.

We loved a 2 days stay at ElephantsWorld!!!
We loved a 2 days stay at ElephantsWorld!!! That was the most incredible experinece so far in my life. The elephants are not chained, they walk around on their own, and after the afternoon visits leave the place you can stay alone with them.
We also loved Erawan Falls a lot! And of course you go to see the River Kwai Bridge. But we could have stayed for a week or more in the region - it is beautiful!

Apart from the attraction of the Commonwealth War Graves(...
Apart from the attraction of the Commonwealth War Graves(including many Dutch graves), the Bridge over the River Kwai and the War Museums, it is quite a large town, but without much to attract the average tourist. It is the gateway to the surrounding area with lovely countryside and other War memorials etc. But it really is not a holiday town.

- Awesome huge room with a lot of space - almost bigger than my flat at my home.
- Great view on the river with nice sunrise / sunset.
- Very friendly staff.
- Tasting breakfast - you can choose between western food and some thai food or fruit etc.
- I felt like in luxury hotel with low price to pay.
- Because of hot weather / cold AC and spicy food, I had huge nosebleed during sleep and made a lot of mess on sheets and bed. I expected I would have to pay for messed sheets. But I did not have to, so thank you very much for that!
Joy and her sister are so sweet! They took so good care of me! Everything was so great. I had a great time. Breakfast for the low price very good. Room was very good, fine airco also. If you want to see something than you can rent a bicycle or motorbike.
Please be carefull when you get a link on Booking.com when they ask you to pay. That is scam! Joy warned me for that! You DONT need to pay before you are in the Canaan Guesthouse.
If I am again in Kanchanaburi then I am sure that I go again to Canaan Guesthouse.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting in vicinity of the River Kwai bridge. Though it is a large compound the setting with many lush green areas, large water ponds full of fish and a great swimming pool gives the hotel a character. Breakfast offered was a good buffet. Dinner at the floating terrace on the river was really nice albeit with slow service (which the staff told me upfront, in fairness)
Location is just 150m from River Kwai train station (3 minutes walk). Staff very helpful: came to meet us at the train station when requested. Hotel helped to arrange private SUV for day tour to Meena Cafe, Wat Tham Sua Tiger Cave, Mulberry Mellow Cafe, Mallika City and Erawan waterfalls. Good stay near River Kwai. Must stay at Kanchanaburi at least 2 nights, there are many places to visit.
The Guest House had a beautiful garden, it felt like a small oasis in the city. There were nice seats to have breakfast or to relax any time. The owners were extremely helpful, they gave us a map of the city and explained the main sites. They offered to drive us to the busstop multiple times in the scooter side car. We also got to rent bikes to explore Kanchanaburi. Very pleasant stay.
It’s super clean, the owner is always checking everything is in order and that the bathrooms and toilets smell good. It’s a verily lovely place to stay in Kanchanaburi.
During our last evening, we had an issue with electricity in our room (no electricity), and although it would have been fine, the owner insisted on giving us an additional room for us to sleep with aircon.
wonderful location over looking the river kwai, the hotels restaurant food was delicious, room was spacious, bed was comfy, pillows were great, best bed and pillows so far since being in Thailand.
The hotel staff were lovely, the most happy, friendliest people I’ve ever meet. They also couldn’t do enough for you. we didn’t want to leave!
The area is really quite and nice. Restaurant and pool have a great view and good food and drinks are offered by friendly staff.
Very good breakfast, clean rooms and good location next to the train station.
Really recommend this hotel as value for money is great. Pool is nicer and bigger than it seems on the pictures.
Very clean. They have everything. Beautiful garden. Swimming pool. Nice rooms. Staffs are hardworking, friendly and they can speak English. Service is like a 5star hotel’s. You’re offered drinks as soon as you arrive. They have porter who’s always there to carry things for you.
This was a relatively new hotel which was easy to find and well signposted. Everything worked as it should have. While they didn't speak much English, the check in was simple and quick. They were open until relatively late for the check in.
We had an amazing 3 night stay in the hotel. I have stayed in a few hotels in Thailand over the last 3 trip's to this wonderful country and I can say that this is one of the nicest hotels I've had the pleasure staying in. Thanks you.
- The location is nearby to the famous bridge and easy to go to town, quite and having the convenieces store close to the hotel.
- Room was nice, clean, and well-decorate.
-Staff are nice and helpful.
The manager/ owner of the hotel went above and beyond personally taking me around Kanchanaburi and showing me how the locals live. This wasn't expected at all and made my trip through his generosity.
The room size was good and we had a view of the river. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was located just about 15 minutes by bicycle to the famous River Kwai.
Three star hotel, about similar to other three star places I've stayed in Thailand… surprisingly comfortable bed (i.e. soft by Thai mid-price standards…)
