I stayed in house no 1. It is a lovely house, with excellent architectural design, traditional and modern like only Scandinavians can build. It's hard to explain in words, but it's a really cosy dwelling. Note that the settlement includes several separated houses, but I can only talk about the one I experienced.
Located next to Schackenborg Castle in the picturesque village of Møgeltønder, this inn dates back to 1687. It offers free Wi-Fi, tastefully decorated rooms and a gourmet restaurant.

Location is great and the room that we got was very spacious and lovely - we loved the old school vibes! The bed was super comfy with fluffy pillows and warm covers. I appreciated the option to open windows and the blinds as I like to sleep in the dark.
Breakfast didn’t have tons of options but all the staples were available; eggs, sausage, bacon, rolls + yoghurt and cereal and fresh fruit. No fresh juice but bottled drinks in several flavors were pretty good!
These self-catering apartments are located 1.6 mi from central Tønder. All have a terrace, free Wi-Fi access and private kitchen facilities. The German border is a 5-minute drive away.

We were met at the property immediately as we arrived, and our host was really friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Our room was just right - kitchenette with everything we needed, lounge area with TV, little front terrace looking out onto fields. The beds here are SUPER comfortable! Only a short drive or walk into the town with supermarkets.

The town has a population of just under 8.000 people but has the vibe of a much larger town with a wonderful town center and pedestrian street.
Lots of shops and eateries.
Vor Bager (guldbageren) on the pedestrian street has a nice cafe upstairs and great cakes.
Kong Christian, Vestergade 66, is a wonderful gifty shop. Reminiscent of old times with foodstuffs, beer, ceramics etc
All we met and talked to were very friendly and helpful and the whole area feels safe to move about in.
There are lots of historical places to see, lots of beautiful scenery and wildlife. The SORT SOL experience is not to be missed! A tour takes a couple of hours, the actual sort sol (the birds settling down) only takes about 15 min. but WORTH it. Bring a sandwich and a drink- and your camera.
The German border is only 4½ km. away (bring your passport) with the border shop just 1 km. down the road.

We visited Tønder to get married there and had a lovely stay! The people of Tønder are very friendly and helpful. The town itself is so beautiful and cute. We went for lunch to Marcels Brasserie and it was amazing. This town is perfect for a short dreamy weekend getaway.
Everything was amazing. The location was so beautiful and very close to shops and Tønder. The host was amazing and good communication. The houses were so beautiful. Everybody in our group was impressed by the design and how cozy and comfortable and also clean it was. The very best about the house were the beds though. I think one of the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Also the best kitchen I have seen at a holiday house. There was literally everything you need in that kitchen. I can only recommend. Had the best time here.
A genteel, elegant hotel in the centre of TØnder. Nice breakfast. I arrived late and the kitchen had closed, but the receptionist recommended a restaurant in the centre of town (Steaks) where I had a delicious meal. Apparently it was the sister establishment of the hotel and the receptionist told the chef to return to the kitchen as I was on my way there.
Very friendly staff/team with a good sence for service. The hotel and surroundings and villages nearby are characteristic/romantic. First evening we had a diner in the hotel restaurant which was very tasty. Within 45 minutes you can be at the insel Romo and take the ferry to Sylt for example.
One wonders how close to paradise a hotel can come. Schackenborg Slotskro comes a very close! Yes its pricey, but its worth it if you can afford this luxury. The pictures dont do it justice, too beautiful! lovely dinner. lovely rooms. lovely breakfast. lovely staff. just lovely,
A great place to spend a night or a few nights. Very cozy, clean, classy and close to the city center. Got a nice room with a big TV and comfy beds. Check in and checkout was a breeze. There are also nice hiking options that go right in front of the hotel.
The location is great, near Tønder centre and Møgeltønder. The garden is big, the kids can run around and play and look at horses and chickens. The flat is very clean, well decorated and has got all the essentials. The owners are lovely and helpful.
The location is great to see the Black Sun (birds). Old-timey charm in the rooms made our first night in Denmark all the more special. We were also incredibly thankful for the free upgrade; the suite was great!
Comfortable facilities, good location, amazing breakfast, the restaurant is also very good for having dinner. The staff was gentle, as almost everyone we met in Denmark (very kind people).
Very well designed modern hotel, in a cute town with a lot of beautiful nature just a few minute walk away. The hotel room was very comfortable and clean, dining area is very nice as well!
