Small enough to feel cozy, big enough to have a great restaurant, a billiards room and a beautiful bar. My room was very comfortable, with a little terrace. Staff was friendly, attentive and competent.

The breakfast is one of the highlights and a reason why we came back to stay at Suite Azur. The fresh OJ and baked items, along with beautiful fruit and honey and cheese and omelets on request are best enjoyed on the roof top deck overseeing the majestic views of the Atlantic. The room was perfect for us and our son, with incredibly comfortable beds, a sitting area to play cards and cross ventilation for great breezes. Yusuf and Farah and the rest of the staff are always eager to help out, will personally walk you places to be sure you don't get lost in the Medina and make wonderful recommendations for activities and restaurants. We love Essaouira and the Suite Azur is a huge factor in our fabulous experience there.

Breakfast was fine. Similar to other hotel breakfasts. Sort of a Moroccan-continental breakfast with pastries, fruit, omelet station, Moroccan-pancake section, yogurts, breads and jams. It was nice to go down every day for breakfast.

Essaouira has developed from a hippie hangout to become a top Morocco beach resort with good surfing conditions. Its 18th-century medina is almost European in feel and narrow streets lead under low arches past fragrant spice stalls and local artisans selling everything from wood carvings to faience pottery.
Dotted around the souk are many traditional-style riads on Booking.com, hidden behind tiled façades and blue doors. Other Essaouira accommodation options include luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap apartments, and B&Bs near Essaouira Airport.
Also bright blue are the rowing boats bobbing gently in small harbours sheltered by the Scala of the Port, a wide walkway with ramparts through which several historic cannons poke out. At the end is the Citadel, a small fortress overlooking Mogador Island - the largest of the Iles Purpuraires, so-called for the purple shells found in their rocks that were once used to produce dyes for Roman senator togas.
Another fortress – Bordj El Berod – lies in pieces on the long, sandy beach south of the marina. In the opposite direction the coastline is more rocky and lined by the Scala of the Kasbah, the crenellated walls protecting the medina. Horseriding and camel safaris are available on the beach and you can also visit a Berber village inland.

great city, nice medina it is more comfortable than the one in Marrakesh since there is no car and moto traffic, the beach is vast , clean. Fish market is amazing, must see. You can buy any fish there , get it cleaned and grilled. The are street markets in the center and very decent Carrefour supermarket with paper bags only. It is easy to park anywhere outside medina . The city is walkable , illuminated at night, it feels save to me to walk around. Just for roads crossing one should be careful - the drivers dont stop until pedestrian starts crossing. The city is clean enough compared to other cities we have seen ( like El Jadida or smaller cities in between).I like that plastic bottles are not seen in the streets - they are returned for some fees and thus collected.

Not as ‘hip’ as I’d expected but still worth visiting for the old town and souks. Nice walk along the beach and some good restaurants. Great horse ride along the beach but take care to book a reputable stable.

Essaouira is a relatively small, compact, ancient, traditional Moroccan city. Narrow alleyways and traditional architecture. Cafes, stalls etc. An interesting fishing boat filled harbour with animated action, fish gutting, cooking, selling etc. City walls and fortresses to explore. Friendly non hassling people. Much more relaxing than Marrakech, whilst still having exotic ambiance. Inumerable restaurants serving good food at reasonable prices. You can walk from one side of the city to the other in 15 minutes (if you don't lose yourself in the maze!) This was a former 'hippy' hangout and it is easy to understand why.

Lovely old medina and fishing port just a short walk along the promenade. If you explore the alleyways away from the shops you will come across workshops where the local products are being handcrafted.

What a wonderful city!
What a wonderful city! Beaming with actual local craft and art, lots of cute street cats and beautiful colourful houses with intricately decorated doors, windows and fountains. We fell in love with this small city and would love to go back.
Pro Tip if you like cats: buy some vet cat food and walk around the city with it because those creatures will break your heart with their cuteness.
I would recommend spending at least two days there. Get lost in the small streets to the sides from the main shopping areas. Visit the fish market, eat fresh oysters or other sea products. The beach was nice and serves as a great refreshment after long walks in Medina.
Shopping was great and cheap but I would still recommend learning the actual prices first. For example, we got small tiles for 10dhs but in other places we’re getting prices like 50 or 30. Don’t be afraid to walk away and negotiate a bit. Especially if it is not the master themselves selling but a reseller. You can usually find actual masters on the smaller side streets (especially for wood and fabrics). I also noticed that women have fair prices more often.
Food. Amazing street food and fruits! Don’t go to overpriced restaurants on tourist streets, unless they have a “menu” offer which can be worth the price. Otherwise, if you just take a detour from the main hustle, there will be tangine not for 80dhs but for 30. The food is also way cheaper outside of Medina.

Impressive fort!
Impressive fort! The Atlantic brings a fresh brise and a lot of problems for the buildings because humidity. It’s impressive to watch the ocean breaks at the city wall and sunset over the blue fisher boats. The Souk is small but fine and not so over crowded like Marrakech but not easy to get good prices because you don’t have many options like in other souks. But it’s a unique place impressive too!
Very good hotel for good price.
Rooms are clean.
Cosmetics and hairdryer in bathroom are available.
Breakfast is very tasty and big (it's hard to eat all).
Hotel is in good localisation - 15 minutes walking to main beach, in the evening is quiet.
Best part of this place are girls working at the reception - very polite, still smiling and trying to help you every time. They told us a lot about the culture of Morocco and gave us a lot of tips.
Greetings to them.
I hope to come back there.
Charming hotel
Lovely quiet hotel in nice morrocan style. Warm shower. Clean house rooms. Very kind and supporting staff (manager Zakaria was present whenever needed, could answer literally every question and could tell a lot about the country, its habits and culture). Filling breakfast. Good situated and (aɓt. 15min foodwalk away from medina). Best for me: possible to park my motorbike safe right infront the entrance.
This is a lovely riad. We had a wonderful stay here. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The restaurant is very good as well. The location close to the beach was very nice. We walked to the medina many times from the hotel. It is a longish walk but lovely along the beach.
My absolute favourite were the horse walks on the beach. The hotel has horse stables and the walk on the horses was amazing. The location is absolutely great, the sunsets are lovely as the hotel is just by the beach. Food was very good and hotel is just gorgeous
The hotel was newly renovated and in great condition. The size of the room was good. We were quite happy to get a room in spite reserving at the last moment. The personnel were trying their best to help us out. Breakfast was huge and very much appreciated.
Beautiful small hotel. Rooms are decorated with great taste in gorgeous traditional Moroccan style. Well located.Very close to the beach and port/medina. We loved Essaouira and enjoyed our stay. Will definitely come back as soon as possible.
Great location, the host helped us with the best way to see the city, the places to visit and where to shop. The hotel is great, it’s clean, comfortable, breakfast is delicious. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Nice, clean and comfortable small hotel with lovely staff. Perfect location in the old town, walking distance to the beach and harbour. Spacious room with a view of the sea over the roof tops!
Location was a short walk to shopping and restaurants in Essaouira, as well as to the beach. Full breakfast served every morning. Manager and Staff was helpful and friendly.
Very client oriented hotel. Every request was taken care of: surfing instructor contacts, beach towels, gluten free breakfast.
