Sizeable clean rooms, good sized beds and rustic furniture. TV sets with English, Bulgarian, French channels.
Bathroom small but clean and as you would expect normally.
Restaurant and hotel with romantic fireplaces and actual wooden log-fires. Picturesque village with lots of hotels and restaurants, people friendly and want to help.
Very friendly personnel, the ladies in the restaurant and reception were helpful despite very little English language knowledge. Small streets and limited parking in the area - but remember this is a village.
Nearby is a village museum that opens at 9am.

Melnik is an absolutely gorgeous town with amazing old architecture and Pyramid rocks towering over the town. Its really hot here during summer. A hotel with a pool highly recommended. The people are friendly. Service and food is great. Being a well reputed wine region the wine everywhere is very very good.
Everything is walkable in the main centre. So many restaurants to choose from. Make sure you make the hike to the monastery. The views from the top are spectacular.

Melnik is a very beautiful village, stay there but do not eat at the local taverns if you are not bulgarian. Very expensive, they charge double price compared to what they charge to the locals. You can have exceptional food quality and half prices at Petric and maybe at other nearby villages

Melnik is lovely with lots of wine to try. Good for hiking too. Walking to the monastery is a must!
It does NOT have a pharmacy. Finding basic things like paracetamol was a nightmare. A kind member of staff from a hotel gave me one of his arthritis meds.

Regarding the hotel - everything was perfect - the room, the breakfast, the staff. The hotel also has an excellent location - on a walking distance from all wine cellars & restaurants.
Melnik itself is the Bulgarian wine capital - so go there anytime you visit the country.
And do not miss the Museum of the wine.

Melnik is the smallest and also my favourite town in Bulgaria. Its wine culture, its architecture and the nature surrounding it, are unique. If I would take my foreign friends to any place in the country, Melnik would definitely be in the top 3. Fully recommend!

Hikers, nature lovers, photographers and wine lovers should...
Hikers, nature lovers, photographers and wine lovers should not miss this town, which is known as the "smallest town" in Bulgaria with around 200 residents. It's one of the few places where nature has shaped big sand pyramids, some of which can reach a height of 100 meters. There are unlimited possibilities for hikes from the town, the most popular are to Rozhen Monastery and to a church in Zlatolist where a 1,300-year-old platanus tree is located. The town sees many tourists and plastic pollution is a big problem, like in most of Bulgaria. Soon there will be more discarded plastic bottles than pyramids here.
We stayed at Hotel Mario which is located on the road to Rozhen, while other part of the Mario facilities is within Melnik. Location was calm and quiet, owner didn't bother us at all - in fact we saw him at the check-in and check-out only. Being a bit distant from the Melnik restaurants is an advantage to me. It takes a 5-10 minutes walk to reach the city center.
The hotel is excellent value for money.
The person who greeted us at reception (and made breakfast the next day) was lovely. Little English but very helpful.
The room was large and clean. The shower was hot.
The breakfast was called 'Complet' and consisted of toast, jam, tomatoes, cheese, peppers, cucumbers, hard boiled egg, etc. (this was the vegetarian option).
The hotel is in a good position to explore the village.
Lovely village, very central hotel location, and helpful staff. Free admission to an interesting adjoining wine museum. Many opportunities for photography. And while not built for the motorcar era, visiting motorists displayed courtesy and care in adjusting to the narrow and unmetalled streets.
We had a very pleasant stay. The house is clean, rooms are spacious and comfortable. Feels like everything is made and decorated with love and care, you enter the room and you feel at home. The house is near the center. The host is very nice and welcoming. There was a fantastic view from our room.
Nice and clean rooms in a renovated traditional house. The rooms have a view to the pyramids and the valley. It is in a quiet streat in the central part of town. There are available parking places just in front of the house. The lady was very nice and she knows a lot about the history of Melnik.
Very friendly host, nice room that is well equipped, nice place to rest after exploring Melnik and its sourroundings. The host speaks german and he offered me great wine when I was relaxing on the terrace directly infront of my room. Great experience staying, thanks for the hospitality!
The hotel is very cosy, clean and very nice designed, you will feel that owner of hotel was making design with care and love. Very nice view to Melnik from room windows. Owner is very nice and kind, food is delicious. I absolutely recommend this place to all :)
We liked, no, we loved it all. It was clean, spacious, had everything you need when staying at a hotel. The garden with the pool are sooo relaxing and beautifully maintained. But the thing we liked the most was the hospitality of the staff and owner.
The place is amazing, in the very heart of the city. The staff/owners are friendly, welcoming and there is a great story behind the cellar itself. Definitely recommended after several stays in other hotels in the area.
Great location on a hill overlooking beautiful Melnik and its hills. Calm, comfortable beds, easy parking. We liked very much the dinner in the hotel's restaurant; breakfast was not buffet but a la carte, but ok.
The apartment was very nice, clean and with everything needed. We had beautiful view to the pyramids. The garden was very big and beautiful and the staff was very professional and nice. Everything was perfect.
The hotel is located in the center of Melnik with a great view over the town and the rocks. Also from the restaurant there is a great view. There is a small garden with a waterfall and a parking area.
We loved everything, the hotel is owned by a family which is so welcoming! They will go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible, the nicest people you can meet!
The breakfast was exceptional. breathtaking views, great and friendly staff. The hotel looks recently renovated. 5 minutes from main street in the village
The location of the little houses is at the center of Melnik, it was very clean and organized. Melnik is great place to visit and this the place to stay.
