Home to one of America’s icons – the Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco is a liberal city where life is very much for the living.
Surrounded by water on 3 sides, the city's spread over steep hills that make for great photo ops. And none better than the zig-zag Lombard Street, seen in many a film. Even more famous are San Fran's iconic trolleys climbing the hills – a little touristy, but still worth a ride.
In the middle of the bay, Alcatraz island is known for the notorious criminals once imprisoned there. Even if you don’t go inside, the views of the bridge and city are unparalleled.
Nowhere is life in San Francisco more laid-back than on the Pacific beaches. Rent a bike and head out there, passing through the huge Golden Gate Park, before returning to sample some fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf. Don't miss the clam chowder served in bread bowls! Chinatown also has a great selection of mid-range restaurants.
As you fly into San Francisco Airport, look out for the exclusive homes lining the Bay Area. Whether you want a more independent stay in apartments, luxury San Francisco hotels or cheap hostels, Booking.com has something for everyone. Be careful though – you might just leave your heart here!
My favorite city in the USA. I do recommend to visit this city if you're an adventurous traveler, with deep respect to local culture and customs. Great place to enjoy a great variety of interesting attractions: forest, ocean, city, small towns, in a state that leads efforts to mitigate the climate change and improve the air quality.
San Francisco and Sausalito... always in my bucket list

San Francisco isn't a real place with real people.
San Francisco isn't a real place with real people. It is there to run game on the working class and scam people out of their youth. It is the most expensive city on earth. At any given moment residents are outnumbered by tourists and homeless. Don't be a sucker.

All big cities have a downside and that doesn’t exclude SF.
All big cities have a downside and that doesn’t exclude SF. Yes, there are some areas that are exacerbated by homelessness and decline of business. However, that isn’t the whole story. The city still has vibrant neighborhoods, incredible sights, and extraordinary dining options you’d be hard to find elsewhere. Make sure you go beyond the Pier 39 area or Golden Gate Bridge; yes quintessential. Some other great highlights include a day trip to Angel Island, an outing to Crissy Field or Baker Beach or in the presidio area in general, visiting the Lincoln Park neighborhood with the Legion of Honor and surrounding trails and cliff views, Golden Gate Park with the Japanese tea garden, the botanical gardens, and the several museums like de Yound and California Academy of Sciences, the food in the mission neighborhood alone could be a day….the options are endless and that’s just SF. Plenty of surrounding suggestions like Muir Woods, Sausalito, Oakland, Berkeley, Napa and Sonoma, Monterey Bay, Point Reyes, Santa Cruz to name a few.

I only had two nights and one full day. I love walking.
I only had two nights and one full day. I love walking. I walked 30km all around SF. Golden gate. Ocean beach. The city. Everything. Also used public transport to and from airport.
For me it is all about the beauty of the The Bay and the buildings architecture and general scenery.
Only downsides - Chinatown was crap - nothing like the real thing - full of crap tourist gifts - very few restaurants and very few Chinese people. Fisherman’s wharf is a bit overrated too. But it’s ok for a quick walk to get the feel of it all. Only other downside is some of the less safe areas in the downtown area.

Wonderful city and I shall return.
Wonderful city and I shall return. Great mix of ages, ethnicities, cultures, and all inclusive to whom ever you are wherever I visited. Easy to get around the city and its surroundings. Lots to do and see. Amazing foods.
I love how Gizele , the front desk was assisteing us. She welcomed us and made sure we got the best room with a nice view. The hotel was near Union Square and Chinatown. It is located in the heart of San Francisco. A lot of restaurants and Starbucks nearby. The staff were awesome. They are very friendly and approachable. They also took care of our luggage when we check out so that we can still tour the city. Our experience is exceptional. Highly recommend. It is also near BART station where you can ride the train to the airport.
The location was walking distance to Union Square and public transport. The staff were friendly and helpful. The old world charm of the hotel, our room was very comfortable, the water was hot. Having a kitchenette was a great cost saving and convenience, as was the deli market right next door. continental breakfast is included every morning too. The manager let us store our luggage after check out and use the common area while we waited for a late flight. I would highly recommend this hotel for comfort on a budget
We were on a trip with family (7 persons) and had four rooms. It was very convenient, directly at Union Square in the center with shops, restaurants and sightseeing points around. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We requested a quiet room and got the rooms all inside to the pool which was amazing. You are in San Francisco, have a pool and you are at the center of SF. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Even a parking garage is available direct in the hotel. Highly recommend!
The hotel is very cool, clearly designed by people with great taste, boasting a wonderful energetic atmosphere and friendly staff. For me it was a highly enjoyable experience. I absolutely loved the common area (living room), a large open space with a working station, bar and breakfast area. The location is also convenient, next to Union Square, and situated close to many restaurants, bars, and shops. The whole hotel just radiates such a positive energy and makes its guests feel at home.
This is the Best Hostel. It is literally in the Center , Downtown San Francisco Union Square area.
There are Supermarkets, Eating places near the Hostel.
I had a room for my self which had all Amenities!
The staff is friendly and always willing to help.
I highly recommend Orang Village Hostel to International Travellers and California Residents don’t bother by chance they took me in as i didn’t know that locals aren’t allowed!
Overall best hostel in San Francisco, California!
We really enjoyed our stay! The hotel has a good old-fashioned vibe but everything was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is in the perfect location - close to everything and just a minute from the cable car station and 5 minutes walking to the Union Square. The stuff was also very friendly and welcoming. A nice touch of fresh sweet pastry every morning and unlimited selection of tea and coffee. Definitely recommend this place while visiting San Francisco!
The location a block from Union Square was ideal. The Curan theatre is across that street and Grace Cathedral is up the hill. The Warrick provides a good value for the area, where many rooms are in the $500 range. This may seem superfluous, but the in-room HVAC unit was quiet enough to sleep. So often those units are so loud, that one has to choose to be comfortable or sleep.
Maybe the best part is the Tapas restaurant on the main floor. Bota was fantastic.
We liked everything about this hotel! It is a gem right in Union Square, very secure (24-hour security at the entrance), and so easy to get around from this location. My only regret is that we didn't have time to enjoy their lounge area. The rooms are really cute! Just one little tip - I might not stay there with someone I'm not 100% open with as you hear literally everything from the bathroom 🙈🙉. It was a great spot for us and would highly recommend.
Union Square is our preferred area to stay in SF and the night we arrived, the homeless situation seemed to be more in check. We had been warned that it had gotten much worse recently so we were pleasantly surprised (for a minute). Thus hotel is a block off Powell. The lobby isn't much to look at but the staff were very friendly. We received a room upgrade upon arrival b/c we booked via booking.com and two complimentary waters.
The hotel is very centrally located right in the heart of downtown San Francisco. Union Square, the Embarcadero and Chinatown are all within walking distance. I love the happy hour from 5 to 6 pm in the hotel every day where guests are able to enjoy a nice glass of wine. Staff were very friendly and helpful and they gave me a room on a higher floor with nice views of the city.
It is very well situated, just a block away from union square and market street. The overall vibe of the place was ok, for looks it would get even higher points. The common areas look well designed. It feels like a boutique hotel for much cheaper price. And that is a big thing in SF where very shitty places can ask you hundreds of dollars for a night.
perfect location, safe neighborhood, less than 5 min walk to union square, big and well organized kitchen, breakfast, purified water dispenser, free coffee 24/7, great common space, so closed to public transportation, I just loved it here, I think it’s the best place to stay to live the city
sleeping in Union Square allows you to visit many tourist sites on foot. San Francisco is a relatively quiet and peaceful city, and although very much downtown the hotel offers rooms away from traffic's noise.
The history behind this premise is honorable and you feel kind of safe.
Layne hotel is a very good option to stay in San Francisco. Very good located just 15 minutes walking of the Moscone, and 5 minutes walking to the Union Square, Ryan has an excellent customer service always pending on our requests. I will back definitely.
Cute boutique hotel in the heart of Union Square. Very basic hotel, but it has all the necessities. Staff were friendly, it was comfortable, and fairly priced. Not very spacious, but understandably so since it is a historic building in the heart of downtown.
Great location in downtown, just of Union Square, from which to explore the rest of San Francisco. Conveniently located for easy access to local and wider transport networks. Good gym with a variety of cardio and weight machines.
Nice hotel close to Union Square and Powel st/Market public transit. Clean and nice room with kitchenette. Sofabed not so comfortable, but most of them are not. Nice "Club room" on top floor with seating area and coffee/tea.
Hotel is located in a quiet Street in downtown. 3 blocks to union square. Bus stop is at the door.
The suite is very clean with high standard upgrade. The staff is very helpful.
Very comfortable apartment, well located close to union square but on a quiet street. Clean and tidy, very good service. Best place for a family in San Francisco.
