We had been pleased to have been the very first guests in Karoline homestay. It is a very big house where we could freely use the kitchen, living room and the big garden. The rooms are on the top floor and there had been a fully modern and renovated clean bathroom to be shared among the guests. Just around the corner is a community children's playground, tennis field, Minigolf course with 18 holes which is free to use. Also a beautiful hiking path can be started there. Free fast WiFi is available. The host is very friendly, supportive, accommodating and definitely wants to make you feel like at home. It had been so relaxing that we decided to extend our stay some more nights.

Very reasonably priced gite that met our needs perfectly. Unfortunately we only had one night here but in that short time found absolutely nothing to fault. There was a warm welcome from the hosts who were available for all of our needs, should we have required them. It's the small things that sometimes make a big difference: There was coffee in the kitchen which is a rare and welcome bonus and I was fully impressed by the whole set up. Excellent breakfast delivered by the hosts at the precise time that we suggested.

The world is full of wonderful people. Sometimes you're lucky enough to meet them. This was one of those times. Simply great. The place and surroundings are beautiful. Even the dog has a very nice character.

Our 3-night stay at Le Clos du Plantis could not have been better. The property is in a serene setting surrounded by flowers and nature. We awoke each morning to birdsong. The ancient Charentais logere has been lovingly and tastefully renovated so that each room and bath are spacious and have a door to the exterior. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the linens are high quality. No skrimping here! Each morning our breakfast was delicious, plentiful and a bit different from the day before. Our hostess made sure we were fully satiated. One night we enjoyed an evening meal, as well, and it, too, was delicious. Sadly the weather was not cooperative to enjoy the inviting pool; however, one evening on the terrace we had a gourmet pizza from a nearby restaurant, while watching the sun go down and turn the evening sky to pink. There also is a comfy, attractive communal sitting area with brochures of points of interest. This accommodation is among the best we have had in France - indeed in any country- since we started frequently traveling in Europe in 2005. The surrounding area has a bounty of interesting places to explore. Whether you want a restful getaway or a base from which to sightsee, Le Clos du Plantis is an exceptional choice. This is rural France at its best, yet close enough to Cognac, Saintes, Royan (beach), Angouleme, and the relatively unknown St-Jean-d'Angely, to enjoy historic and interesting adventures or more sporting activities. And don't forget to sample the pineau, cognac, and wines from the many vintners throughout this region. We look forward to a return visit. It does not get better than this!
