Alice is a dream of a host. She took great care of us and was very helpful. She speaks good English, which made up for our mediocre French. Our room had a beautiful view over Le Tampon until the ocean. The breakfast was excellent and included homemade jams (which you can also buy to take with you if you have found your favourites) and homemade cake. When we started early in the morning to hike to the summit of Piton de la Fournaise she made us a breakfast to go with a homemade banana chocolate cake which was mouthwatering. The room was cleaned daily. Alice also let us checkin really early without any trouble at all. Her husband and the two small daughters are very friendly.

We had the pleasure of experiencing one of the most intense cyclones of the recent years together with Isa and Steph in their beautiful house in Le Tampon. As we have never been exposed to such severe weather conditions before, we were a bit nervous ahead of our stay, but our hosts did everything they could to make us feel safe and comfortable in their amazing home. We cooked together, we did yoga, had great conversation and we believe we could not have found a better place to spend those hours during the storm than with them. Thanks for opening both your home and hearts for us. We enjoyed every minute.

Offering a garden and mountain view, L'ESTAGNON is situated in La Plaine des Cafres, 13 km from Volcano House and 15 km from Saga du Rhum. The couple who owns the place are so nice, even though they hardly speak English they tried so hard to communicate and make our stay even more enjoyable. Also very early breakfast (with local products) was no problem. Honestly one of the nicest people we ever met.

The hospitality and welcoming atmosphere given through Marie-Claude and Yves was extraordinry. Also we recommend to have at least one diner with them. Next time at La reunion we will stay at this place again

Côté Volcan, a property with a garden, is set in La Plaine des Cafres, 24 km from Peak of the Furnace, 25 km from Saga du Rhum, as well as 31 km from Trou de Fer Viewpoint. Extremely nice staff (very helpful and knowledgeable about hiking routes) and very cosy dinner in the evenings with great local food. Spacious room with couch area and heating (important since it gets cold in the mountains). No wifi in the room, which should be standard these days.

Located in La Plaine Des Cafres ( La Grande ferme ), Chambres et Table d'hôte Les Hortensias features a garden and a terrace. All rooms have a terrace with a mountain view. I loved everything about this place, especially my wonderful hosts! Thanks for providing such a lovely stay, advice on the hikes and bridging the language gap!
