Picturesque Town on Iguazú Falls' Doorstep
Located 18 km from the Iguazú Falls UNESCO World Heritage Site, Puerto Iguazú is an Argentinean town situated near the Brazilian border, in the Province of Misiones. Its compact city centre is packed with restaurants, cafés and shops, while the area is well-known for its red soil and lush vegetation.
The stunning falls comprise 275 individual falls spread over 3 km between Argentina and Brazil. They have a maximum height of 80 metres and a water flow that can be three times superior to that of the Niagara Falls.
The Guaraní natives named the falls ‘iguazú’, meaning ‘big water’. The national park was founded in 1907, and some of the best hotels in Puerto Iguazú are located in the road linking the city centre to the falls. Some hotels on the Argentinean side of the waterfalls offer beautiful views.
The local bus station offers links to several long-distance destinations, including Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The city is served by Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, while the Brazilian Foz do Iguaçu International Airport is 16 km away.

Amazing bucket list experience!
Amazing bucket list experience! We went later in the day and rode the boat ride that took us practically right next to the falls! Truly awe-inspiring and something that all should experience. Prices are great. Be prepared for the steps down, and then back up!...to and from the boats - it's a bit of a climb. Very disappointed.
Very disappointed. Spent time and money to get to this part of Argentina to see these falls and we saw very little due to over tourism. It was so crowded you were elbow to elbow, face to face and some times wheel chairs running over your feet so they can get by. It was terrible. What a way to ruin 1 of the 7 wonders.

I loved the Falls, especially the Argentina side. This was also our chance to visit Paraguay. There were some nice restaurants nearby. The weather was terribly hot and humid. We didn’t stay long at either Park because it was too hot and crowded in the morning. The sidewalks in Puerto Iguasu are terrible.

Hotel Botonica was a Joke it should be removed from Booking.com. My husband hurt himself going the down the small winding stairs. We had to leave and find another hotel. That was safer and hotel Botonica charged us for 2 nights. Even though we stayed just one night. It had a Cat that lived in the hotel and I’m allergic to cats. The hotel breakfast is also quite notable. The restaurant figures in TripAdvisor, though I found the steaks that I ordered a tad tough. Great facilities. Wasn't able to try the spa, but it's apparently also among the hotel's highlight.

The host Marie was very welcoming, was able to help with planning of our time in Iguazú, and was also able to recommend several places for nice food near by. Marie's dogs and cats were also very welcoming company.
