Sarajevo could be described as a captivating oasis of European cities, where East meets West in an integration of diverse cultures and a fascinating history mixed with a fresh cosmopolitan and charismatic vibe.
A museum in itself, Sarajevo is a sightseeing and history lover’s haven from the numerous mosques, churches and synagogues, to historic landmarks such as Sarajevo War Tunnel and Latin Bridge. Afterwrads, you could wander through the Old Town, which is a world on its own.
Sarajevo’s cultural diversity means a large selection of local delicacies. Be sure to visit Sarajevo’s historic and cultural hub Baščaršija bazaar, an ancient trading place with cafés, restaurants, cosy bars, art, and loads of accommodation options.

It was a good idea to take accomodation in the very center of the city. We also booked a guided tour, 3h long, which gave us an idea about the city and its main attractions. The city is an interesting mix of old and new, with marks of the (recent) conflicts and history but also lots of reconstruction going on. Be ready to see a lot of tourists from all over the world and many friendly shops. Take care though, to thiefs!

3 or 4 days is sufficient in Sarajevo. East meets West.
3 or 4 days is sufficient in Sarajevo. East meets West. The contrast between the brutality and destruction of the war 30 years ago coupled with a balance of peace, love, tolerance and harmony is an incredible mix of emotions.
The cable car ride to the top of the mountain provides spectacular views of the city.
For sports lovers visit both football stadiums. Even take in a match. It costs under a tenner.
The food is nearly always exceptionally well priced, in large portions and incredibly tasty. Most main courses between £6 and £12
If you are teetotal and want an alcohol-free beer, the options are a little restrictive although you can find a local beer and Erdinger for c£1.50. Both are extremely palatable. Expect to be questioned as to what is the point of beer without alcohol though !! This city likes to drink.
Once you have exhausted the city hire a car and visit Mostar and Neum.
The scenery is simply stunning.
Recommend kayaking on the Nevretti River.

Sarajevo city is a vibrant tapestry of history, culture, and resilience. Its charming old town, welcoming locals, and diverse cuisine make it a must-visit destination. The blend of Eastern and Western influences creates a unique atmosphere that captivates visitors, leaving them with unforgettable memories.
Mostar is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina, renowned for its iconic Stari Most bridge that elegantly spans the Neretva River. The city's cobblestone streets, Ottoman architecture, and warm hospitality make it a picturesque and culturally rich destination. Exploring Mostar is like stepping back in time, where history comes alive at every turn, offering visitors a truly enchanting experience.

Sarajevo was very friendly and felt safe and comfortable.
Sarajevo was very friendly and felt safe and comfortable. There is a great cafe culture so you can sit with a coffee or beer and watch the world go by. It is culturally diverse and feels welcoming, all the more extraordinary considering the fairly recent history of war and the siege. There are walking tours which are worth going on- ours was great, with a local, knowledgeable guide. It’s worth going up on the cable car and having a wander around the mountain tracks- all well signposted.
We can’t wait to go back!

A really interesting city.
A really interesting city. The people are warm and friendly, ready to welcome and assist visitors. Many speak a variety of languages. English is commonly used, menus are often in English as well as Bosnian. The food is tasty and there are a variety of cuisines to choose.
The city is walkable, there are many tours available. We chose a free
Walking tour and the Fall of Yugoslavia tour. Both to our guides were very knowledgeable and passionate about their city. They were open to questions and enjoyed sharing their opinions.
The cable car allows the visitor to get a Birds Eye view of its size. The Old Town is great for traditional meals. Good coffee is available everywhere.
I liked the fact that East and West meet, it gives hope. It was an experience that will remain with me for a while.
Modern suites. Quiet and restive environment. Staff very friendly, helpful. Mr. Bacho is the guy to help you with anything you may need. Sabina makes sure that you have your room pristine. I liked the style and design of the room. If you are on a business trip, just skip busy, noisy, expensive hotels and waiting to check in. At "Museum Apartments" you will be in your room in no time. The "Bascarsija" was amazing and Bacho walked me there to get some presents for my family, enjoy some Bosnian food and sweets.
The host Nedim is absolutely incredible and quite modern Bosnian! He is super hospitable, fun, easy to talk to, and knowledgeable. We drank coffee in the morning together, and he shared some of his own special goods 🤗 🙏. Also, his home stands on a perfect hill and is surrounded by an impressive wall and a gatehouse-like metal doors 😆✌️
Cheers Nedim, hope to meet you again! I think you would fit Couchsurfing community really well in case you are looking for more guests to spend time with.
The location of this hotel is so central however the street itself is not too noisy/busy at night. It was a short walk downhill to the main square (a bit steep coming back up but it's a short walk). There is also shops/food places on the door step. They have reserved on street parking across the road, spaces are limited so book in advance. The host was friendly & accomadating. I would book this place again if I were to return to Sarajevo.
Had a great time at this hotel! I choosed it because I wanted to be away from the noises of the city center to be able to sleep quitely. The area is calm and quite, and I had a good sleep. The bathrooms which are shared, are right next to the hotel rooms. The breakfast was very good, and the owner drove me to the train station. I decided to book another night in a few days on the day before I fly home from Bosnia.
My sister and I loved our stay in this beautiful hotel. Armin and the staff were incredibly welcoming and are the epitome of Bosnian hospitality. Armin recommended a fabulous seafood restaurant and it did not disappoint! The location is very central and breakfast was delicious. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Sarajevo.
There were private breakfasts with a private chef, just for me. A strong Bosnian breakfast for a long day. Breakfast is served in the basement, in the restaurant, but I had it more than once in the cafe, well served, chatting with people.
Very private parking free parking I like a lot.
Hotel position is minutes walk from Iliđa center.
Very friendly staff. Free parking. Clean room.
Beware that in Bosnia I experienced smoking in the buildings so you know. No problem för me. Hotel is near airport but little far away from centrum. Taxi 25-35 mints. I arrived late so no restaurant nearby at that time. Not hotel, s fault. Good coffee in the cafe in the hotel.
Clean and pretty apartment, very friendly owners, great location. I've booked many apartments in Sarajevo over the years, but this was one of the most solid and pleasant experiences. If you want to stay in an authentic Bosnian house just around the corner of the old town for a really fair price, this is a great choice.
The location was superb, next to the Grand Mosque. The hotel is within walking distance of places of interests and dozens of restuarants. Enjoyed the food.
The front desk staff were extremely cordial and supportive.
Enjoyed the breakfast served in a typical Bosnian way.
Hotel is located 1 min on foot from the famous Sebilj Cesma. The serve superb Bosnian pitas as a part of their buffet breakfast. The staff is very kind and helpful. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. I will definitely return when I visit Sarajevo again.
Location is excellent to walk to Bascarsija and other sites of attraction. The breakfast is amazing, so much to select from and everything was delicious. They even offered Bosnian Coffee if you ask the hotel staff for it. Hotel rooms are clean and spacious.
This hotel has terrible communicaon and booking system. They sold our booked rooms. When we get there they tried to send us another hotel with an expensive price. They put the rooms online and book it but dont keep rooms for the dates booked!
The host was helpful, communicative. He greeted us, showed were to park a car. Host also gave some recommendations about city visiting. The apartments' ameneties fulfilled our needs (we got everything, that was stated in booking website).
The only good thing about this place it’s location, in the heart of old town. However, it’s not worth the money, there are better hotels in the city center for less money, if you book in advance.
The location is excellent, and the rooms are tidy and clean. Hosts are very nice and friendly. If I come again to Sarajevo, I will definitely book the accommodation here.
