We went in January and april, and the resort is very different off-season, mid-season versus high season when it's very hot and full of yound people. There is lots to do even in the off-season. We were there in March, not in the season. The city centre had nothing interesting to offer – just a bunch of really cheap looking bars and clubs. But if you go to the beach and just a few minutes from the main streets, the nature really is breathtaking.

Out of season it is a ghost town - nothing (and I mean nothing() is open. Supermarkets, shops, bars and almost all restaurants. Go elsewhere in Cyprus if you want to find places open in February. Ayia Napa is a great place for a winter trip as long as the accommodation has thick blankets. Less tourists than in the hot summer months, but still warm during the day. Best cafe/restaurants are by the harbour with live Greek music. Xmas decorations good. Sculpture park very good. Good bus service.

There is an excellent tavern next to the hotel - Stamna. Best food in all of Cyprus! Ayia Napa may not be a dream come true, because the town is very focused on mass tourism, but the Paloma hotel is not so central and allows you to take a break from the hustle and bustle. Great value for money ratio.
