Lots of restaurants open even in February. Beach restaurants also open. Food shops fabulous for self caterers, meat, fish, fruit, bread and cakes all good. Even a wonderful dressmakers shop that replaced a faulty zip at minimal cost.AngelaUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10
Almuñecar is a bit mixed. .
Almuñecar is a bit mixed. .The town has centuries of history, but a lot was ruined by wars and earthquakes. It shifted to budget tourism from sugarcane and fishing in the 1960s. Now it's going upmarket. It's surrounded by orchards and hills, and has some lovely areas of charming villas. Culturally, it's a bit special. Even though it's a small town, It has an arts centre with a decent theatre. There are concerts two or 3 times a week, even in winter, and jazz, flamenco and theatre festivals in the summer. Good restaurants, nice beaches. Public transport isn't great unless it's midsummer, so if you don't have a car, I suggest that you stay somewhere near the centre.

It’s much bigger than we expected.
It’s much bigger than we expected. We visited it directly after the new year and experienced it to be empty. However it was full of life. Restaurants and bars were all open. The weather was perfect. The beaches were empty what made everything even better. Totally a pleasant surprise!

Hotel is short €1 bus ride from the town, which was lucky as...
Hotel is short €1 bus ride from the town, which was lucky as there was not really much to do near the hotel in December. Luckily this time of year street parking is free. Room was large and clean. We were in room No.110 ground floor near reception we found it a little noisy but nothing worth mentioning. There was a very good selection of food for breakfast and evening meals. Unfortunately the coffee had a strange taste every morning, so didn’t have any. Sadly none of the food that was meant to be hot, breakfast & dinner was - it was Luke warm. Staff were very friendly, helpful and professional.

The rooms are really nice, free minibar included in the room is a really really great touch. Lovely sea views and easy access to the nearest beach. Only a 15 minute walk to the main beach at San Cristobal. It's a quiet private location near the end of the road so little passing traffic. This and the whole ambience make it a great place to stay as a couple and just relax and unwind.

Spa and massages has a good price. Heated pool is an excellent bonus. Room is spacious, clean and comfortable. Stayed twice in the same room during the same trip with lateral sea views and there was a nice welcoming gift in the room both times. Really liked the family atmosphere from all the staff even it's a decent size hotel. Definitely will go back again.

The owner was nice and thoughtful, she explained me everything about the house and was really friendly. The house itself has everything you would need, and it's also pretty big (for 1/2 people at least). Everything was really clean and all the facilities were working right. It is not for you, however, if you're not in fair physical shape and do not like to drive a car each time you want to bath. The house is 80 m above see level, so it's good exercise to climb up to it, especially at 32C. The view is fantastic. Swimming pool is not very large, but my daughters-in-law enjoyed it.SergeyNorway

The owners are super friendly and very helpful especially the young man (owners son) who waited up late to welcome us to the apartments when our flight was late on arrival due to being delayed.The apartments are also stylish,well maintained and very clean.Would definitely use again.

Used that house as a base for hiking trips into Sierra Nevada and Sierra Tejeda. The owner is super friendly and explained us everything about the house when we arrived. City Almuñecar with supermarkets, shops and all needed is 10-15 car minutes away. From the highway it's less then 5 minutes.
