I loved staying at Auberge du Bon Laboureur in Chenonceau with my family and can easily say it was the best part of our ten day trip across the country. The hotel staff was so kind and welcoming, we relaxed in their pool and jacuzzi after long days sightseeing, had a wonderful dinner at their excellent bistro, it felt like home away from home.

the situation is awesome (front of the river, near the castel, near a beach with lots of water activities)

Plan to spend a whole day to discover the castle and gardens. You can ask for a stamp on your wrist to leave the grounds and return within the same day, so you don't have to eat overpriced food with thousands of tourists. You can get sandwiches at the local bakery for picnic.
We highly recommend taking the audio guide: it must be booked in advance, as they tend to run out of them. The audio guide has several extra recordings that provide interesting info (e.g., food in the Renaissance times, sleeping advice from Ambroise Paré, the WWI and WWII periods, etc).
We stayed at the Clos Medicis: great location, great room with comfy beds. highly recommended!

The Chateau and gardens are amazing!
The Chateau and gardens are amazing! The only detraction was that our visit was on a very hot Sunday afternoon and the number of visitors made it crowded. Still, the flow of the audio tour through the Chateau moved along. The online reservation system worked fine.
A huge number of kayakers and boaters in the River Cher made photo opportunities challenging. Despite these issues it was a great experience and a tremendous learning opportunity regarding the history.

The Chateau was fun and interesting, obviously old and well taken care of, and the walk through the rooms was well designed. It was crowded considering distancing requirements, but you could make your way to all the rooms without a problem. The grounds were the more interesting part of the visit and we could have spent more time exploring them. Also, if you've got time, there's a bridge down the river (east) from the Chateau and there's a number of different options for boats and canoes to see the Chateau from the river.

We took our time and visited the interior of Chateau Chenonceau for 3 hours and exterior gardens and maze for 1.5. Can definitely spend a whole day there when the weather is nicer and flowers in bloom. Exceptionally kept and restored with an excellent audio guide. A must see even if you only have a day or two in Loire. We ate at Auberge du bon laborer amazing dinner and breakfast.

The chateau is the main attraction.
The chateau is the main attraction. Chenonceaux itself is centred around a main street with a variety of bars, restaurants and hotels with varied prices. We ate at a restaurant/brasserie promoting its burgers - modern decor and very friendly service. All these places are walking distance from the chateau.
Excellent choice for everyone who wants to visit Chateau Chenonceau and is looking for superb quality of stay mixed with good price. The owner was super welcoming, room was good and comfortable. The breakfast was served with local / home-made products that tasted exceptionally good. As most will come by car - there is a good parking next to house that makes moving in and out easy.
Excellent and very good value breakfast, Isabelle and Patrick were excellent hosts, and Le Roi Coq is in a beautiful location very close to Chateau Chenonceau so a great place to stay and visit the Chateau.
A tip if you want a restaurant is that they get full so booking is recommended , Isabelle and Patrick will give useful advise on which to avoid and value for money.
The entire auberge and its grounds were beautiful and cozy. The food at the restaurant (breakfasts, bistro, and fine dining) were all superb. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The pool are spas were excellent. My wife had a great 1.5-hour massage. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a great location, just a short walk from the chateau Chenonceau.
When we arrived the parking was full, yet there's a car service at the hotel, and I simply left my keys to have my car parked for night. That was an added value. The private swimming pool is great, clean and cosy, yet not too small. The breakfast was wonderful! And the location is simply perfect for visiting the Château de Chenonceau. We liked very much this hotel!

A really charming old-fashioned hotel. We had a delicious meal on a pretty terrace surrounded by roses - the food was the best I have had for a long time. The bathroom was very poky in our room, which overlooked the street but the bed was comfortable and for us it was a perfect one night stay on our way south.
Excellent location tucked away behind the Creperie on the Main Street in Chenonceaux a few minutes walk from the castle. Lovely large room with tea and coffee making facilities, sofa and spacious bathroom. Nelly and her husband were fabulous hosts and the breakfast was excellent. Highly recommend!
Quaint old fashioned hotel with good facilities and secure parking. Excellent dinner and breakfast in the dining room with good ambiance.
Within 5 minutes walk to Chateau de Chenonceau which is wonderful to visit. Perhaps the best chateau in the area.
A great place to stay in Chenonceaux. Quite and well-decorated place with an amazing breakfast with natural products made every day by the owner. Super helpful staff. She helped us with the best castles to visit and the fastest routes.
The dinner was fantastic and for a 3-star hotel the quality of the hotel and facilities was excellent. It was an overnight stay only on a drive back through France and was perfect for that. Would return for another short break.
! We had three persons, so we appreciated the extra large room with twbo double beds. It was conveniently located near the Château de Chenonceau. All the amenities made it a very comfortable stay. The Creperie is also fabulous!
Very conveniently located, 10 minutes walk from the Chateau de Chenonceaux.
The staff were welcoming and helpful. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant .
