The Stuff of Legends
Even though tranquil Le Mans has a well-preserved medieval centre and virtually intact Gallo-Roman walls, it is most famous for its iconic 24-hour race. Motorsports lovers the world over descend for a day (and night) of non-stop racing on the Circuit de la Sarthe.
This legendary track encompasses parts of the permanent Bugatti Circuit, but also spills out onto normal roads which get shut for the occasion. One local restaurant is even placed right by a straight which cars hurtle down at top speed before braking for the bend near the Golf des 4 Heures club in Mulsanne.
Also within the circuit are the Antarès events venue and La Sarthe Automobile Museum, open even when there is no racing. The name of the latter refers to the Sarthe River running through the city centre. Colourful, half-timbered buildings line its historic banks, and steps climb gentle hills in the old town.
More charming houses fill the streets surrounding impressive St Julian's Cathedral, started in the 11th century. The city history is detailed in the nearby Museum of Queen Bérengère, and the town hall is in part of the former Palace of the Counts of Maine.
Booking.com’s Le Mans accommodation includes hotels with pools, cheap guest houses, and apartments near the train station.
A large city with useful selection of shops. The highlight was our visit to the historic, Plantagenet quarter and the two town centre museums (free entrance.) Good selection of restaurants for all budgets. For a bit of pre-Christmas cheer it was ideal. A walkable town centre with a good tram service which goes as far as the 24 hour race Track.

Fantastic location in the old town.
Fantastic location in the old town. Architecture is simply stunning and has to be seen to be believed. No where else quite like it. Lovely restaurants and bars a stones throw. People are lovely and friendly. Great weather. The annual Summer evening light projections / show are superb. Lots to also explore and enjoy in main centre. A drink in the square people watching is a good way to spend an hour or two. Our 2nd time back in ten years to stay with Brigitte. We will be returning!

The room for people with disabilities was accessed from outside at the opposite end of the building from the disabled parking and the restaurant. A 200 metre walk in the cold, dark and rain was hardly "accessible".

Le Mans offers much more than the 24h car race, the old town on the hill is very beautiful. Of course, another impressive cathedral - don't miss it. And also don't miss to have Crepes and Galettes ;-)

Really lovely hotel, rooms were great, good size and lots of added extras, like free soft drinks in room, nice toiletries and slippers etc. Staff were very helpful and really friendly. Only downside was that the restaurant was not open when we stayed but the staff advised us where we could eat locally.
We chose the hotel for the location to the Le Mans circuit. We timed our visit so we were able to drive the public roads section of the track as they were being readied for the 24 hour race. All signage was on the course and it was truly a fantastic experience!
The hotel was easy to locate with ample parking. There was a bistro restaurant on-site which was convenient. There is a shopping centre about 2 minutes away by car , if you need anything.
The old city of Le Mans is about 15 minutes by car (depending on traffic). Worth a visit.
it was amazingly artistically awesome. The artwork was so interesting - the artist very clever and gifted - created the perfect art that was found throughout hotel. captured the spirit of hotel - or created it. appreciated the use of space- bar welcome desk combined, one popular game for kids instead of many, attention to detail - cute red shelves in my room, suitcase holder below hanging space, pink velvet chair!stool reminiscent of hallway sofa, etc.
Location was ideal for me as it was en route for my trip, and 15min from the Le Mans race track.
Staff where good and welcoming.
Room as adequate, it literally states in the name, 'budget' and was great for just the night in a bed and shower in the morning.
Breakfast was, well, bleak, but i didn't book this stat for it's breakfast, jist a cheap room for the night, in a bed, which it fulfilled.
Thw coffee was great tho 👍🏻
This a gem of a maisn hotel in central Le Mans, it is well located for both tourists and shopping.
Our hosts, M & Mme Duhem, we excellent; being both very helpful and pleasant.
Their house is delightful with an unusual garden. Having the option of safe off the road parking was a real bonus.
Breakfast was excellent with some home made options, and you have the opportunity for conversations with other guest whilst visiting.
We were very lucky to find this magnificent property, an oasis of beauty and 18th century luxury in the center of Le Mans, close to the historic sites and shopping. Even our teenagers were impressed with the spaciousness and comfort. Our host was amazingly helpful and generous with his time. Thanks to him we felt at home in the city and discovered things we never would have on our own.
This place was amazing!!! The rooms were beautiful in a beautiful location. The host was very kind. If you want to stay near the old town of Le Mans (which you really should look into if you haven't), stay here. Also, the location to the Cathederal is ideal. The cathedral is amazing. The old town is amazing. This place is amazing. I highly recommend.
We stayed in Le Mans for the 24 hour car race. The location is very good, it is about a 20-minute walk to the cathedral and the busy area with all the restaurants. Very nice apartment. The host was wonderful and very helpful. We had a small issue with the shower, and he came right over to fix it! It is about a 20-minute ride to the Le Mans track.
We used this hotel on our family drive through France (my wife, and I, and our 5 kids). I wasn't sure reading the reviews, but I found this to be excellent value - air conditioned with a pool. The breakfast was fine (although a little overpriced for adults, kids are free!). A perfect stop off on our long drive.
We stayed for the Le Mans Classic races, so the price was much higher than normal, but we expected it. Thankfully, we spent most of our time at the track and not at the hotel because it was nothing special. It was a relatively short walk to the tram stop.
Modern and clean. Comfy bed and lovely bathroom. Free parking is a massive plus right in the hotel. A short walk from the 24hr Circuit and a short tram from town.
Nice and clean hotel not too far from the centre. Good breakfast, a country-side feeling. (Taxi to the centre cost 15 euros.) Le Mans old town is worth visiting!
Very accommodating and nice staff, Room a bit pricy during event at Bugatti circuit. Good breakfast and nice dinner menu original and renewed frequently
