The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The room I had was spacious and had a nice view of the town. There is also a patio and free parking.

The location is perfect, easy walk to all of the town restaurants and a 2 min drive to the main cave site. There is a lovely little stream in the back with plenty of seating set up to enjoy a beverage/food. And the limestone cliffs make a beautiful backdrop.
Set in the Périgord Noir region, this eco-friendly hotel with an outdoor swimming pool is set in a 19th-century post house. It offers wine tasting and the stylish guest rooms include free Wi-Fi.

Beautiful spot in the middle of town. We were able to walk to 2 nearby caves. Restaurants, museums, and shops are all within easy walking distance. Our host, Yves, was gracious and most helpful. The breakfast was delicious. He went out of his way to provide the foods we like. The room was quiet. There is a stream that runs through the property that provides a beautiful babbling sound. Idyllic.

We stayed in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac because we were interested in exploring the Vezere Valley and it seemed to be a good place to base our search. It proved to be a great choice - the hotel was fantastic and the scenic town had a number of really great dining options within walking distance.

Staying in Les Eyzies makes it easy to see as many caves and abris as possible. I definitely recommend staying in Les Eyzies itself, rather than travelling in, if you want to see lots of sites and visit the museum. Les Eyzies is like an archaeological theme park! Also the Prehistory Museum is free on Sunday afternoons, which was a nice surprise. We went to the Museum and then visited Abri Pataud the next day. We also went to Rouffignac, which is a 25 minute drive away. We decided not to try Font-de-Gaume as we were travelling with our baby, and were advised that we would have to queue for a long time early in the morning to get a ticket. I would like to go back for longer next time and visit more of the local sites. I would also like to try kayaking next time too, as there are lots of kayak hire places along the river. We did go for a nice bike ride though, and there are some good off-road paths. The Portuguese Restaurant in the village was good value and baby-friendly!

A great village to base your visit to the Dordogne valley.
A great village to base your visit to the Dordogne valley. Many nearby sites of paleolithic art. The Museum of Prehistory is outstanding. Lots of excellent restaurants serving the famous regional cuisine.

Why are they making people stand in line for tix in the internet age? we had to get up crack of dawn. RAINING. NO SHELTER. It shows what they really think of tourists. No instinct for hospitality. Tour guide a failed jokester. If there's good food in the town we did not discover it.

The proprietors and staff of the Hotel Cro-Magnon were all friendly and welcoming. They went out of their way to help me with practical problems like purchasing a ticket to a local attraction when the website was hard to manage. An unexpected bonus was the hotel's library room, a quiet enclave available for guests to read or work in. My room was simple but clean and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was tasty and plentiful. Dinner in the hotel's restaurant was outstanding! I hope to return to the Cro-Magnon someday.
Everything ! The location, the pool, the management who were delightful and wonderfully friendly and helpful, good breakfast, comfortable room with almost silent ceiling fan (a plus !!) The river at the bottom of the garden with shady spots.
I booked this hotel for a three night stop on a holiday planned at the last minute, based on the booking.com photos. It is everything the photos suggest and we have already decided to return next year. The management are the best I’ve ever found. Superb stay.
The hotel building and the grounds are beautiful. The Beune river lies imediately in front of the hotel and there is a sitting area with chairs close to the water's edge - a great spot for relaxing and reading your holiday book. A stream from the Beune drives the mill wheel and ducks often come to visit the guests. There's plenty of parking at the hotel, and there are numerous bars and restaurants just a few minutes walk away.
Dirty dark and dingy apartment, broken shower, noisy neighbours upstairs until early hours of the morning (make sure you get a room on the top floor), even though advertise as English speaking this is not the case. Have to clean apartment yourselves even though booking.com advertises as cleaning included. We arrived to hairs on the toilet. No response from hotel to any questions prior to stay. Very disappointing stay.
The property is lovely, beautifully maintained and in a perfect location. We were impressed by the high quality of the hotel’s restaurants - breakfasts and dinner were delicious, the service first rate and friendly. The overall gracious approach to running this hotel was evident every day of our stay and clearly defined by its commitment to provide a wonderful experience!
We can’t recommend it enough!
A beautiful hotel run by a very welcoming team who make you feel special from the moment you arrive. We were upgraded to a room with a private sauna. We ate dinner in the hotel which was a very gourmet affaire with lots of little extra courses. The locally produced wine with a family connection was lovely. All the staff were very friendly and professional and spoke very good English.
Great location for traveling the Dordogne and in particular the Noir. Walking distance from resturants, the Prehistoric museum, Cro Megnon and more.
The owner is dedicated and the place is clean well treated and equiped.
Superb breakfast.
Plenty of seating corners and privacy.
Bottom line if you are in search for a location that one is highly recommended
The hotel staff was incredible forthcoming and supportive, being flexible and doing their best to make our stay successful. Many innovative little things, such as the bar of locally made soaps to replace plastic bottles in the rooms was a pleasure. Obviously the kitchen is not cheap, but very much worth the money and fulfilling.
The location is excellent. The hotel is very charming. The pool is very clean, to get there you have to walk through the street to get to the other side of the block. The beds and the air condition are good. The breakfast is also very complete. Parking places were available (with one exception).
Gorgeous, beautifully restored hotel. Our room even had a terrace. Pretty pool. Excellent breakfast. Close to all of the caves and nice restaurants. The best part were the owners; friendly, helpful, dedicated.
convenient base for cave exploring…and for resting/relaxing in between. we ate one dinner there…another down the street. both fantastic. beautiful hotel/easy on-site parking.
The hotel location was very centralized. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Staff attentive and almost always available to answer questions and give advice
