Elizabeth Ann is a great hostess, taking care of anything you might require during your stay. The freshly cooked breakfast was the best we had on our whole trip through Scotland, by a mile. We would gladly come again!

The hut was lovely -particularly appreciated the eco values & compost loo. Nice area, and lots of options for food and things to do locally.
Had a very warm welcome from the hosts, and also in the nearby town which was really friendly too.

The breakfast was poor and certainly not what I expect of a continental breakfast.Towels were not changed daily. We did not sleep till well after midnight on the Saturday as the Hotel ran a disco in the garden which was so loud that the toilet seat was vjbrating. On the plus side the hotel interior was modern and very well carpetedThe staff were excellent and produced whatever we found missing. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows and the Jacuzzi was a surprising bonus.

Friendly town, lovely meal in the Queensferryand Buccleuch Hotel, and excellent Chinese takeaway too. There were loads of cafes and a couple of independent shops, and well stocked Co op and Spar. Had a good walk in the grounds at nearby Drumlanrig Castle.

Thornhill is a small village in “the middle of nowhere.” This is what a local said to me. The scenery is beautiful with the rolling hills and the farmers fields. The village itself is quaint with impressive looking buildings.

Thornhill is a really quiet place but its in a great location for exploring the surrounding areas and makes a change from the overcrowded Lake District. Having said that there are very few other options in the town for eating and drinking.
It was the best night away I've had in a while - something different and definitely worth it! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, far comfier than I've ever had staying in a hotel! I loved the decor and getting up in the morning to birds singing and the most wonderful view definitely topped it off. Zoe and Tony were a lovely couple and very welcoming. We will be staying again!
Needed a break in our journey from Aberdeen to home. This location was good for that and there was some great scenery in the final 20 miles before getting to the hotel.
Hotel were very accommodating as we got there late and fitted us into an already busy dinner service. Nice food and beer. Great room and comfy bed. Breakfast the next morning was good.
Very convenient holiday home: light and spacious and ideally located in the middle of a region with lots of things to do and see. The village of Thornhill is well equipped with small supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and even a coffee bar although the general atmosphere is average.
Lovely cosy cottage to spend Christmas with my husband. Well equipped kitchen and we loved the log burner. Bed very big and comfortable. Within good commuting distance of Dumfries for food shopping. Would highly recommend booking a stay here.
had a lovely stay & Elizabeth was superb host & made sure all was satsfactory. The period house is very comfortable & spacious with quiet relaxed atmosphere....very different from the city hotels & stopovers :)

Lovely location for walking or cycling. A few miles away is Thornhill which has some lovely eating places. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the property is very clean and well equipped.
Great area for walking and sightseeing. Plenty of cafe’s with good food. Can recommend Jinty’ b’s in Thornhill and Kilnford Farm shop near Dumfries. Very pet friendly cottage.
We enjoy the peacefulness of the location, with no main roads nearby, lots of wildlife, and country walks. It is close to Thornhill so you can visit this town.
