Great location - options are limited and expensive in this area, the price was reasonable for a basic, but very comfortable room. Staff was helpful and friendly.
The Potato Storage is offering accommodations in Svínafell, with free WiFi and free private parking. All guest rooms in the motel are fitted with a kettle.

Comfortable apartment with good location close to beautiful sights. Coffee, tea and some spices were available for use, so no need to buy them for a short stay.

stunning, make sure you walk all the way down the trail, there are two other gorgeous waterfalls that a lot of people missed by not going all the way to end end of the trail (which is only a few hundred meters long).

This is an amazing place to hike and see some glorious views - especially on a clear day - which can be a bit tricky. We were extremely fortunate to have some of the the sunniest days recorded. Could not ask for a more comfortable hike. There are glacier hikes that you can pay for but honestly parking at the Park and hiking up yourself is something you will not soon forget. Not too laborious, but you defintely feel like you are exercising. Loved every minute of this hike and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Sadly we only had a day in Skaftafell and I wish we had more time to explore the national park. What we did see was stunning. Nature, hikes, glaciers and ocean all within a stones throw of each other. Well worth a longer visit than just to pass through.

Tremendous family run generational local property.
Tremendous family run generational local property. Gorgeous setting and very close to National Park. Great path in rear of property leading to amazing glacier views and outlet lagoon. Lovely dinner and dessert! Friendly, warm staff. Great relaxing indoor bar and outdoor patio with stunning glacier views. Thank you, Hotel Skaftafell!!!
Though hotel Skaftafell is located in the middle of nowhere, its location is super-efficient for exploring the Skaftafell national park with all its glaciers. Jokulsarlon and Fjallsarlon glacial lagoons and horse-riding. The restaurant is a highlight (and pretty much the only option as there's virtually nothing nearby) - the food is quite inventive, well-cooked and flavoursome. The restaurant service is also warm, friendly and efficient.
This was one of our favorite hotels during our trip to Iceland! The staff was so nice and helpful. Parking was easy. We ate an amazing dinner at their on-site restaurant, drank tea in their upstairs lounge area, and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast! We loved taking a short walking path from the hotel right to a glacier. Definitely highly recommended!
Our room was at the back of the hotel and had a magnificent view of a snow capped mountain. We went for a walk (suggested by receptionist) after checking in to the glacier at the back of the hotel. Easy path and worth doing. The room was very clean and cosy with comfortable beds. A good night’s sleep. Breakfast was a buffet and plentiful.
The locale is awesome. We hiked over to the Svinafellsjokull Glacier from the Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the proximity of the Glacier and the chance to see it up close. A bonus for anyone who makes a booking at Hotel Skaftafell. In addition the various Glacier Hiking companies have their Base Camp within a few Km distance from the Hotel.
The location great. I had requested for a quiet room and the hotel was kind to fulfill this request. I enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. The dishes were delicious and prepared to a good standard. The staff at reception were always friendly, at any time of the day.
Room was very generic for the price. During our trip, we paid much less for much better accommodations. The beds were very old and soft compared to other hotels thus far. Not sure I can agree with the the Bookings.com recommendation on this one.
Located within 5 minutes drive from Skaftafell nature reserve.
Very friendly staff, asking if we would like a wakeup call in case the Northern lights appear, and waking us up at the right time.
Very good and interesting dinner at the restaurant.
Our room location was very private and we had a great view of the glacier out the window. The breakfast was excellent with both local and international selections. The location was perfect - only 5 minutes from the National Park entrance.
The breakfast was wonderful! There is a short hike to the glacier right behind the hotel. The front desk staff is excellent and caring! The restaurant for dinner is ok. There is a gas station with food for lunch across the street
The hotel is set in a beautiful location close to a glacier which you can walk to in about 15 mins. The rooms were a good size and clean, and the buffet breakfast offered a very good selection.
Restaurant was good. They offered gluten free bread upon request. Breakfast was good. They provided gloves and sanitizer for the buffet. Walk out to the glacier was very worth while.
amazing views from every corner of the hotel, especially the bar! the room was clean, great location (6 min drive from skaftafell), the restaurant was good
Beautiful well kept hotel with very comfortanle rooms in the middle of the Skaftafell National park. Amazing breakfast. We saw the northern lights here
