FAQs about hotels in Naples

Vibrancy, Vespas, Vesuvius

Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and funicular railways. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.

At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.

While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of visitable tunnels and even a Graeco-Roman theatre which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!

Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artefacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.

As for accommodation, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city centre apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.

Naples is not a clear city at all.

Naples is not a clear city at all. Everywhere there is a huge noise, lack of parks in the city. The availability and quality of public transportation is poor, often the bus line did not even arrive. But it is not important to me. I love this city, the atmosphere is amazing, the sea is beautiful and clear, restaurants with delicious meals. I would come back again :-)

Very interesting city. A lot to see and try. So many options for food and drinks. A lot of shops for souvenirs. There are areas of the city where is very dirty but also there are other areas where is clean and new. In general, there is something for everyone. It is a city that should be visited!

Naples is a full experience, you can't go in half hearted or a little apprehensive. It is confronting, whether that be the rubbish, the poverty, the motorbikes demanding you get out of the way, the crowds and the speed at which the pace of life travels. But it has some amazing culture, food, sights and incredible history in many layers. It also has some very wealthy areas. Naples has some incredible nearby sites- Pompei, Sorrento, Vesuvius and the Amalfi coast area. Naples won't be easy but it will be very fulfilling if you dive in.

Due to the amount of tourists, its gets very busy in certain areas and also at the train stations. The train to Pompei was cheap enough, but we were packed in a bit like sardines in a tin. The train to Herculaneum was less busy. The Catacombs were interesting, as was an Amalfi coast day trip. There are many sights to see in Naples so 5 nights was enough for what we wanted, but did not see everything. Food was good and the cakes from the bakeries were fantastic (Sfogliatella, Baba, Fioucco di neve, Cannoli), not forgetting great Pizza and Pasta.

Naples is an interesting place to visit.

Naples is an interesting place to visit. There is plenty to see for a visit of about 3 days. We enjoyed walking in the Spanish Quarter seeing the museum, underground Naples, also going up to the castle of St. Elmo on the Funicular and walking along by the port. It is a vibrant city, the historic quarter exceptionally busy and a very young scene. We used the metro to get around too. Pity about the train strike the day we had booked to visit Vesuvius.

    We loved this town.

We loved this town. We’ve been hearing bad things about Naples for years, but times have changed. Fun energy, best street food in Europe. Amazingly cheap—get a world-class folded pizza for 2 Euro. Aperol Spritz (small) for 1 Euro. World-class archaeological museum. Beautiful churches.

The property was truly outstanding! Nestled right in the heart of the city next to the magnificent Duomo, the building itself exuded Italy's captivating ancient architecture. Inside, the apartment was a perfect blend of classic beauty and modern convenience. Our host was incredibly humble and gracious, going above and beyond to assist us with recommendations for nearby attractions and suggesting some exceptional places to visit. I would wholeheartedly recommend this gem to anyone traveling to Naples. It was a memorable experience

Not your usual hotel type of room but interesting with a story behind it. Our host Antonio was extremely helpful in all aspects of our first visit to Naples. On our arrival Antonio gave us an excellent introduction to the city including advice on what to see, where to eat and drink and how to keep ourselves safe. We also experienced unforgettable football event in the city. Naples team became the champion of Italy. They celebrated it with passion and vigor like we never saw before. We spent 2 nights in Il Tesoro and we have to admit that it was the best hotel we stayed at in Italy. It was clean, well-equipped, very beautiful and stylish! We could choose what to eat for breakfast and it was served in the room in the morning. The hotel is absolutely well located, close to the city center. The host is attentive and responsive. The location is perfect for walking thru Naples' busy narrow streets. To get to the hotel you pass thru an old courtyard and ride an "historic" elevator, and then enter a very modern hotel unit. The contrast is delightful. The hotel has a terrace off the breakfast room, and the staff serves you at the tables. We traveled thru italy for 3 weeks, and this was the biggest and most pleasant surprise.

We arrived at a little stressed...the drivers in Italy are insane !! No sooner were we in the room when we got a knock on the door ... Darius with coffee and croissants. It was a wonderful welcome. This hotel is perfect for a night before a flight stay. It's basic but spotless, and nothing is too much bother. While the hotel is by busy road, it's not noisy and far enough from the airport not to be kept awake by the sound of planes.

Don't let the exterior of the property fool you, this is the real Italy, without the bland facade of Rome. I loved the bathtub, shower, and size of our room. The bathtub had hot water, and we found most places in Italy with a tub only had luke warm water for the bath. Our air was comfortable all night. Most places in Italy, the air was regulated at night and we got hot. This was the most comfortable place we stayed other than the Nicholas Hotel in Bari.
