Sorrento was a great place to use as a base to see the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Pompeii, and the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. I didn't really explore Sorrento much until the last day, and I happened upon a festive and thriving street scene near the highly recommended Gelateria David, near the train station.
The EAV train to Pompeii and Naples is crowded and you can't reserve a seat. I recommend looking up the schedule online and getting there early.

Exceptional place to visit, perfect to serve as a base point while you visit the surrounding area (i.e., Capri, Mt Vesuvius, Pompeii, etc.) A lot of restaurants nearby and people are helpful and friendly. I would definitely try out the Syrene Bar Restaurant, The Orange Tree (Thai) and Beersteak (one of my favorite places).

Super pretty town.
Super pretty town. Didn’t realize how nice (and touristy) it would be. Also didn’t realize how good the hiking in the area would be (if you don’t mind going up hills)—walk to SantAgata was great, but challenging. Tourist office at the train station was giving out a hiking map.

Delightful Old town Sorrento offered everything one would want for a dreamy vacay. Views that are unbelievable, detectible food at every block and an ambience rarely found in other towns. We felt safe and part of the community, will come back again and again!

Good for a few days.
Good for a few days. Out of season in April the whole area was too busy to use public transport comfortably. Long waits overfilled buses and trains, people don't queue but push and shove to get on. Ferries to Capri were all filled and Capri although very nice had the same issues. Staying longer and using Sorrento as base although ideally placed would be extremely difficult. Plenty of restaurants. Too many shops aimed at tourists and overpriced.

Sorrento is absolutely stunning!
Sorrento is absolutely stunning! It had everything: stunning scenery, great shops and restaurants, harbour, port, history and an abundance of lemon and orange trees! It’s an amazing place to visit.
Walking to explore is all that’s needed..
Chalet Lidia is a wonderful place to spend your time in Sorrento. The chalet is in a great location. I felt like I was in the mountains of Umbria, but was able to walk a few minutes to the beach and to the center of town.
The owners are the nicest people you could meet. They are really welcoming and made my feel at home from the moment I arrived. They also pay attention to the small details of their property. I would highly recommend chalet Lidia to anyone that wants the Italian home experience while visiting Italy.
The host/ owner was exceptional! You can't get better. She clearly cares deeply about the room and wants those staying to have the best experience.
Our room was immaculately decorated with much attention to detail. It was cleaned daily to perfection.
An excellent shower with lovely soap and shampoos.
I couldn't have asked for more and at such a great location close to the train station and only a 5 minutes walk to old town Sorrento and the water at an affordable price
Our favourite accommodation in Italy and beyond.
The hotel was a nice surprise. Based on being 3 stars I was a pleasantly surprised at how good it was . The rooms were the most spacious we had in Italy. The bed was comfortable, the blockout shades were excellent and windows were sound proof. The location was close to centre but far enough away to be out of the busy streets of Sorrento.
The rooms were exceptionally clean. Nice tiled floors. Good Airconditioning . The breakfast was good. The staff were pleasant. I highly recommend .
It is hard to imagine better place of Apartment localisation. We treated Sorrento as a point to explore this part of Italy (Amalfi Coast) and it was great decision. Apartment is very close to the buses and trains as well as to the main street in Sorrento with very rich offer of shops and restaurants. Room was very clean and design of room looked better in live than on the pictures. Host was very kind, helpful and responsive in any cases. Plus for keyless access to the room.
Location - outside the city, so it was quiet, but a very short walk to get there.
Marianna who worked in the breakfast area was very personable and kind.
Pasquale at the front desk was very helpful with recommendations for tours and restaurants.
The shower was large and had good water pressure - hard to find in Italy!
Hotel was clean and we liked having a beach right there. (The beach is rocky - typical for Sorrento. You will want rubber water shoes!)
This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. We were staying here for our Honeymoon and had the absolute best time. Location is ideal, the staff is incredible (especially Francesco at the rooftop bar!) and the room was stunning. We booked the suite and the photos absolutely did not do it justice. The room was beautiful with a massive balcony. Can't recommend this hotel enough! We will for sure stay here anytime we come back to Italy.
Great location. Close to the border of Sorrento. Beautiful apartment . Clean modern and nicely decorated. Kitchen well stocked- has spices coffee, tea, sugar and water. Plenty of cookware, and dishes. Very clean. Has island. Beautiful ocean view from balcony. Both bedrooms have queen size beds. Two bathrooms with showers. Plenty of books on Italy available. Three TV’s . Large couch. Staff was very accommodating about arrival time.
The staff at La Piazetta goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, comfortable and excited to be in Italy. Catarina was communicative since the moment I booked until the moment I left. We appreciate her always taking the time to give us detailed instructions and recommendations. In fact, she was so caring, I assumed she was the owner, but no, just an employee who takes pride in her job. We miss her and La Piazetta already!
Location wise, it was perfect. 5 minute walk to the centre, 10 minutes to the beach, everything you need is within walking distance.
Communication from the host was top tier, could not have been more accomodating!
The room itself was perfect, so comfortable, spacious, clean, modern and the bathroom was the best we’ve had in Italy.
Cant say enough good things about this place!
The hosts were absolutely amazing! So kind and helpful and provided us with snacks and little gift when leaving, so thoughtful! The location was amazing, so central and the rooms were super clean and the bed was very comfortable. We travelled all across Italy and this was our favourite stay! Would highly recommend anyone visiting Sorrento to stay here!!
Dino, Candida and Rosa were very welcoming and helpful during our stay at this family-owned hotel. The facility was very comfortable, location views were stunning, and the morning breakfast service was exceptional for Italy hotels. The cost was good value, compared to other hotels during our extended travels in Italy/Sicily.
Great breakfast made by staff on site (quiche was excellent, never thought I'd write those words), comfortable terrace outside room, probably the quietest room we had during our two weeks in Italy (Five different accommodations booked). Plenty of hot water in the shower, great wifi. Owner was very nice and helpful.
This hotel was amazing. It had the best most central location to the city center. The views were breathtaking. All the staff were always helpful and polite, making sure the experience was top notch. The breakfast and staff were the best I had in Italy. The concierge was extremely helpful in securing reservations
The host… the host is knowledgeable, helps with foreigners to make the check in and getting to the accommodation easier and stress free.
The location is a stone throw away from the friendly and vibrant town of Sorrento.
If you are English speaking and are complete strangers to Italy, the host will and does help.
a beautiful boutique hotel in a stunning private location. felt very traditionally Italy. hosts were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you and were in no way over bearing. free shuttle down to Sorrento town was super useful and many more money to spend if the delicious local food. a trues amazing experience
Our host Bruno was absolutely amazing. He gave us a great welcome with home made cookies and a bottle of wine. He gave us great recommendations for food and even got us reservations. He had great tips for Sorrento but also all around Italy. The room itself was great. Extremely clean and well maintained.
Magical place in the heart of Sorrento. Federica was the best possible host all over Italy, her advice, tips, and kindness made us had an amazing experience during our stay. Corso38’s location can’t be beaten. if you visit Sorrento you NEEED to stay at this property.
good location in terms of Amalfi and Sorrento town, recommend having a car (if you’re okay to drive in Italy!)
Milena was 10/10 and helped us with excursions including to Capri
owners were pleasant too and we enjoyed breakfast every morning
Very clean hotel, with lovely friendly staff (a rarity in this part of Italy, we discovered). Breakfast was pretty good also. Free shuttle bus into Sorrento was a godsend, as taxis were £45+ each way.
