Super close to the train station. Literally next to the exit with just 1 min walk. It’s also a close walking distance to the pier to hop on the boat to other islands.
The place is very nice, cozy and modern. Well cleaned. Sofa bed is very comfortable and big unlike other places. There’s snack (biscuits, macaron), tea and water to welcome us. There’s a microwave in the kitchen with all the kitchenware. Bathroom is well equipped with amenities. Water pressure is strong. The owner is also super nice and helpful. He stood in front of the place to make sure we find the place. When we msg him to ask something at night, he offered to come by to help and we’re very glad.

Elisa is extremely kind to relocate us to another of her room right at the centre of Varenna as there was vacancy and the view of lake como from the balcony and rooftop was stunning! It was a perfect stay with free toiletries, hairdryer etc. and great breakfast! (honestly rare to see free breakfast provided so definitely a plus point)

Hermes was a very kind host and suggesting excellent restaurants for dinner. He has a well equipped wine shop and offers wine tasting. Unfortunately we did not have enough time to enjoy the tasting, but he gave us a good price for wines we purchased!

Easy walk about town. Wear good walking shoes steps are steep and not always a handrail. Beautiful gardens and scenery. Easy hop on a ferry to go to the other towns. Hike up to the castle is 30 min. I would have felt more comfortable with a walking stick. Make sure to have water.

Picturesque and just charming. Loved the waterfront, walking on the bridge, flowers, vibe and restaurants on the water. Ferry efficient and pleasant, easy to access other towns. Loved Varenna. So beautiful, straight out of a movie scene.
Loved Varenna. So beautiful, straight out of a movie scene. Do a wine tasting, there are many options there. There is a lot of uneven cobblestones and a million stone stairs. Have sturdy shoes with grip. You walk everywhere. I wouldn’t recommend for someone who is unsteady, walks with a cane, has bad knees. I saw people with baby strollers, but I wouldn’t recommend it, seemed awful with all of the stairs. Not a kid friendly location. Food was fantastic…eat all the bread, it’s not like in the US. Take a cooking class. Take the ferry to Bellano and visit Orrido di Bellano. Next time, I would not bother with Bellagio visit. I would’ve liked the boat ride on the lake and botanical gardens…next time.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Lots of options throughout the area - not just Varenna. So why Varenna?Easy access via train without needing more hops to get somewhere else. Probably more things in other villages if you're looking for a party scene. We tend to stay out later than some and we found enough places to seek out in our three nights. This may have included buying a bottle of wine and enjoying it out on the balcony, but still. Just liked the vibe as subjective as that is.
