Nice little town, you can do some nice outdoor activity such as trekking to little Adam’s pick and zip line, see the waterfall, the famous nine arch bridge, enjoy some good meals in one of the restaurants on the main road. Rice&curry at the Chill cafè is very good, the dream cafe has an international cuisine so I had a chicken wrap also really good, instead at The Barn I had a really good overnight oat breakfast. You can also take a cooking class some restaurants offer this activity three times a day 11am, 4pm and 7pm or you can also enjoy a yoga class usually you don’t need to book classes are at 8 am or 4 pm. In my opinion one night and a full day is enough to visit the main things.

This is such a nice town, good and plenty of food options. Lots of bars and the surrounding is very beautiful. You get spoiled here with waterfalls, hikes and so much greenery. Ella is a chilled laid back kind of place like Bali used to be, However the TukTuk Mafia are despicable rude, price gouging and trying to rip off every tourist. If you go to Ella take your own transport. You can rent your own TukTuks and Scooters. I encourage people to use Uber andPickme it works in Colombo. Honest TukTuk drivers are bullied in Ella As well as other tourist hubs in Sri Lanka.

Good starting place for visiting the mountain area of the country. Downtown noisy and inundated with tourists. Those who want a quieter but equally stunning settling but somewhat more limited in amenities may do better staying in a smaller and nearby setting. Nice Nature, but very touristic city center. Ella Rock walk is great, but you can leave out the entrance fee to the top - the view during the walk is way better, and the top can be very crowded. Little Adams Peak has a nice view on top, but the whole way is full of people who want to sell you stuff & a lot of tuktuks cross you while you are walking. That’s not really enjoyable. The Zip Line there is also overrated and expensive, wound not recommend that. Walking at the train tracks was a great experience. And explore the restaurants in the city, don’t go in the overcrowded places. Unfortunately Ella which is a lovely spot with beautiful views and nature has been spoilt by too many people. Very overdeveloped and what used to be pleasant country walks are now crowded with people. On a positive side there are lots of facilities including a Zip Line.MoiraUnited Kingdom

The rooms are okay, yet the bathrooms are not very nice and they were not very clean. The staff was okay and breakfast was really good. The owner helped us to organize a shared taxi to our next destination. The hotel is up an steep hill and close to the center of Ella. An okay place to stay in Ella if you want to have a pool, if you prefer an super friendly over-the-top-location you might want to book one of the many home-stays.

We had the smaller room with no view but they let us use the kitchen and the top floor balcony which had the BEST view. They also did our laundry for a good price (cheaper than in town). The breakfasts were also great. You can walk to Ella main street in maybe 10-15 minutes from the hotel. Nine arches bridge and little Adam’s peak are also within a reasonable distance.JonasLithuania
