You need to rent a car in order to travel around. I have had a base stay in Merida. Merida is general overpriced and that doesnt mean the quality will follow for the value of the money. Merida itself is not interesting at all.

We really liked the city.
We really liked the city. You need to understand the bus situation and we tried, bought bus passes, tried using them but they were not coded the way our phone was displaying so we ended up using taxi service for all of our visitations to museums, central, restaurants, etc. It wasn't expensive but much more than the simple bus or combi travel would have been. Merida has lots to offer, especially with tours outside of the city, a bus trip to the beach in Progresso for 25 pesos each way, very cheap, cenotes, pyramids, on and on!

Merida is a historic small city/big village with several local entities and several upscale newer businesses too. Old buses and new buses. Very friendly and safe. People walk about the streets are pretty much all hours. It was fun. Energetic.

Merida is a big, historic, busy city surrounded by Mayan ruins, historic haciendas and beautiful cenotes. The Merida restaurant scene has everything from chef owned culinary gems to family run taco shops. There are many excellent tour guides available for in-depth exploration of the city and surroundings or one can do so on their own using public transportation or with a rental car.
Food and service were the highlights of this property. Hotel is beautifully designed and decorated, everything is so clean and smells so nice, food is just unforgettable and honestly the best we had in entire Mexico. Staff is true 5-star, very caring, professional and friendly. Special thanks to Efrain and Atir for going above and beyond and making our stay truly memorable! This place deserves to be in top 5 hotels in Mexico and we dare to say that Ritz and Four Seasons will have something to learn from them too.
The staff was very friendly, I enjoyed the old-world Mexican style. there was a pool, free breakfast, and free parking. there are plenty of good restaurant options (Alameda across the street), to the corner, right, and one block to the corner is a terrific coffee shop (coffee was the best I've had in Mexico, and the sandwiches really good). And then two blocks up is the plaza/ park with shopping and more restaurants along the way.
Front desk Diego and all the people are excellent! 1custome service. Anything that you need and great breakfast a great value!! Nice and clean hotel afew blocks from downtown of Mérida and main ave. P. Montalvo . Beautiful colonial hotel . I really recommend big rooms, nice atmosphere! Love it 😍 fast WIFI PLACE where you can keep cold water and get cold beers. And nice jacuzzi 🥰 for relaxing 😎 after work in my case.
Lovely boutique hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the main square, but still very convenient and quick to get all the restaurants, stores, etc. We intentionally looked for a place away from the crowds, but still convenient to use as a base while we explored Merida. While the parking was not onsite, it was still in a private and secured parking location.
Everything!! From the amazing and helpful staff. Thanks Gibran for accomodating our late check in!! Clean, well kept and tranquil hostel in the perfect part of Centro. And a bonus of a great breakfast! Wish I could've stayed longer. My first time in Mexico. Merida will always be special and memorable, one of the reasons is Casa Garza..
We had a wonderful time at Casa Flor de Mayo. From our arrival to our departure, everything was perfect! We were looked after very well from the staff and the attention was in all the details. Highly recommend this quaint boutique hotel. The location is perfect whether you want to walk and discover the enchanting Merida!
On New Years Day, I arrived in Merida to find my wallet had been pickpocketed at the Cancun ADO station. I also found out, my phone didn't work in Mexico! The staff at Santa Ana, were most helpful with numerous calls to Canada and the police. The housekeeping staff are diligent and professional!!

The gentleman at Reception, I believe his name is David was exceptional.Very polite very helpful in ordering a Taxi etc.
Kudos to David.
We checked in after midnight due to Aeroméxico 3 hour delay from México City. David greeted us and made the terrible service from Aeroméxico a little better.
The owners are a gem. They do everything to make your stay comfortable and give you all the help you need. The rooms are great and so is the location. In terms of customer service, this was the best in all our stays in Mexico during our holidays. Do not hesitate to book this for your Merida trip.
This place needs more recognition. One of the best places I’ve stayed in the whole of Mexico. Amazing comfy beds the best since I’ve been in Mexico, perfect location in Merida honestly couldn’t get better location if you tried and great spacious rooms. Really clean and great value for money.
The hotel itself was beautiful. It has a lovely terrace and natural pool and the hammock in our room was a nice touch. The breakfast was tasty and the staff were really friendly. Would definitely recommend this place. Probably my favourite of all the places we stayed in Mexico.
Love the lush gardens, good breakfast, very large comfortable room. Bathroom well lit with magnifying mirror for applying makeup. I could actually see if my eyes matched before going out in public. Nice to have face cloths, too, which are not necessarily supplied in Mexico.
Location was very nice and also the Lobby, patio and elevator have these very vintage beautiful feel. It feels like you are in Mexico in the 60’s or something. Price vs Quality was good tho. But I would rate this more a a good 3 star hotel than a 5 star.
We stayed here on our honeymoon trip round Mexico. The hotel decoration was beautiful. Our room was huge and the private pool/tub was great. Aircon and fans worked really well and the main pool was lovely to relax by and cool down in.
Absolutely beautiful, huge, and comfortable rooms with very understanding and respectful hosts, particularly since we arrived in chaos and needing some help to leave Merida, and Mexico, after 10 months.
The breakfast was fantastic, I hadn't read that it was included, so free amazing food in Mexico was a pleasant surprise. I like how the room was decorated. I loved the hot hater and the comfortable bed.
Great location with easy access to much of Merida’s attractions. 50 peso taxi to downtown or sometimes an even cheaper Uber. Hotel was very nice, comfortable, and clean. I would stay there again.
Very friendly staff. Comfortable accommodations. I really like that they give you bottled water in your room and in the lobby. Very important in Mexico. Also everyone was very professional
Location as it is very close to downtown yet it is quiet. It is one of the most beautiful premise that we have stayed in Mexico except the worst hotel experience in Mexico.
by far the best stay in Mexico so far! Very warm welcome, very helpful, super pretty, I could go on. When we come back to Mérida, definitely stayi g here again!
