Our stay at Hjelle Hotel was one of our very favorites during our two week road trip in Norway. Mr. Hjelle, the owner of this beautiful property was so friendly and welcoming. He treated us to a very special room and knew so much about the history of the hotel. The views from the restaurant are spectacular, and the dinner (as well as the breakfast) was outstanding. We enjoyed a beautiful walk along the lake to a very scenic waterfall. We were so sorry we had to leave after just one night and would love to come back to this wonderful place.

Great area for a weekend or just to break a long drive over the mountains. Will definitely go back. Lovely thoughtful details, chairs and a rug by the waterside, a rowing boat to borrow, a sauna for after your swim in the glacialmelt water. Interesting hamlet with lots of buildings being restored.

We visited in very early April which were winter conditions for us and gave us opportunity to enjoy the sauna followed by jumping in the lake for cold dip! The town of Styrn is an easy drive to that has everything you need, grocery store and restaurants. We only stayed one night while we were traveling on through Norway but would love to return to enjoy longer. We had the 3 bedroom and it was exceptionally clean with modern decor. Amazing views from every room in the house.

The dinner was delicious with a number of different options for a fair price. The hotel has a history and a lot of nice old decorations well saved till now. The room(in the annex) has a good shower, heating, fridge, kettle and a professional hardier. The breakfast is good. There are hot tea and coffee available at reception throughout a day, you can have a take away lunch and coffee quite cheap. There is a boat available for guests free of charge.

The chalet itself, and particular the location at the lake across huge glacier-topped mountains, are simply the nicest you can wish for when staying on Norway. The apartment is large, very clean, with a complete and new interior. Close by are hiking trails to the Glomnes fossen, and as said the location at the lake is magnificent.HansNetherlands
