João was an excellent host! He made my comfort his top priority during the 4 nights I stayed there. The facilities aren't only comfortable, but are beautifully decorated and pristeen. The kitchen/gathering area is a warm and inviting place to spend time even when you aren't eating. However, the breakfasts were amazing! João and his co-workers put out a spread every day that would rival those of the nicest restaurants. The whole place felt like home.
Offering an outdoor pool, Casa Modesta is located in Quatrim do Sul, 4 mi from Olhão city center. Free WiFi access is available in this guest house.

Located in a quiet (car free) street in the old town. Very central and close to the shorefront and restaurants. Rose makes the greatest breakfasts and she and Gino are super friendly and helpful. I had my own private roof terrace which was a bonus.

Beautiful old and new Olhao. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the area and never had a bad meal. Actually loved every meal I had. A long waterfront takes you from the old town to the new town and plenty to see and do.

Lovely little town, with an old town to stay in and explore and a newer town which we didn't really visit. We found the old town to be inviting, quaint, clean, and big enough to meet your needs for restaurants, shops, and easy access back onto the highway. There are no beaches to walk on, you need to take a boat but we didn't try it out. We enjoyed everything within walking distance. There is a promenade to walk a long the water with outdoor seating and great food, loved the garlic butter shrimp, a popular dish everywhere.

I know Olhao as a cheap and quit place but not anymore, its too noisy and expensive for us so unfortunately our next trip will be somewhere else.
For children there is not so much to do.
Its an excellent place for the eldery because of the shops, the bars, the restaurants and the boats to the beach. Eveything is easy to reach by car, bus, train, boat or taxi.
You have to be carefull for sunburn. Especially at the beach.
I dont burn easily but even early in April I got burned so much it hurts.
Be carefull! Also please dont swimm, the water is *** cold and we experienced first hand the tide can take you away from the beach,.

Thi5 year it wa5 the perfect place to 5pend our la5t of 10 week5 away and we were delighted to 5ee and experience all of new development of the waterfront/marina and main avenida area5. Olhao ha5 lot5 to offer, from great re5taurant5, unique 5hopping, fanta5tic market area and the ferry to the i5land5 i5 a MU5T. We e5pecially recommend taking the ferry to Farol or Culatra, then walking the beach/5and dune5 to the other community [take5 about 40 minute5]. It'5 5tunning and a unique experience.
Ea5y local train will take you to other communite5 along the Algarve for tho5e without a car who wi5h to explore the 5urrounding communitie5.

Great City, much nicer than Faro or Albufeira.
Great City, much nicer than Faro or Albufeira.
Some great restaurants, perfect location to drive with your car somewhere. The city is also clean, despite all the beggars coming to you while have a drink or while eating, that's can be irritating at some point.
This place has the quality of a 5-Star luxury hotel at the price of a B&B. They invested a ton of money in having the absolute best quality and comfort for the guests from the bedroom to the beautiful bathroom to the common area. The Owners are a super-nice and hospitable couple. The breakfast is totally top-notch. Totally quiet, rural location, yet close to many interesting sites and not too far from town. We couldn't believe how pleasant this place was. We'd love to come back and stay for a few weeks and just relax.
The pool area is incredibly well kept and tidy. It's like having your own private pool.
The rooms were huge, there was 8 of us and not once did we feel cramped.
Everything is clean, the staff are lovely and attentive. We genuinely have nothing bad at all to say about Villas Marim, this is far beyond a hotel.
Two nice restaurants next door (walking distance)
Aldi is a 6 minute drive away and Olhao is a 9 minute drive away. The lovely Tavira is 25 minute drive away.
Highly recommended staying here.
Great location close to Market, town centre, bars , restaurants and cafes. Unfortunately left some clothes in the apartment, but telephoned next day to receive very helpful information to return and collect from delightful staff.
Best boat tour around the Ria’s with Sabina boat tours, Maria’s help re booking and Joah as Captain, with his exceptional knowledge of the area, fish/clam farming, and lots of stories from his life long experience of living in Olhao was a terrific afternoons trip.
Well located Hotel and within easy reach of Faro Airport. Situated in a quiet area of the Old Town with many Cafes and Shops on the way to the sea front and Historic Fish Market. The rooms were very clean and tidy and Hotel staff exceptional. They were able to help with advice and suggestions on travel with Train Station within 5 minutes walk. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choices. I would certainly reccomend this Hotel.
Absolutely amazing accommodation in the historic part of Olhão. In the old Portuguese house you will breathe the true atmosphere of beautiful Portugal. I would especially like to thank the host Andrea, who made our stay even more pleasant with her perfect care for our comfort. The rooftop terrace is a great place to drink wine and watch the sunset. By the way, wine is like a nice attention on arrival.
The staff were friendly, the bathroom was inside the shared room, which I think it was good because those in the room did not have to leave the room to use the bathroom. Excellent location. 800 metres away from the centre of Olhão with a very pleasant evening life, very chilled. Also, location wise, also very close to the ferries to travel to the ria formosa islands of Farol, Culatra and Armona.
Lovely home, all the needs accommodated. Great location, easy to walk around Olhao since the town is so small. Ana is very helpful with local recommendations.
It wasn't clear in the photos but the twin bedroom is in the ground floor which is perfect if you have someone who is mobility challenged. The whole upper level is the master with bath and balcony.
Beautiful hotel in great location right on the front in Olhão. There is a lovely view of the market hall and the Ria Formosa beyond (can even see the clam pickers out in the morning). Generous breakfast which you can eat on the terrace with said view. Room is clean, comfortable and stylish, I really liked that it opened onto the terrace.
The place was awesome. Centrally located, with fully-outfitted kitchen including clothes washer and dishwasher. Attractively furhished and graced with skylights. Management, super friendly and helpful 24/7 next door in a hotel-style bed and breakfast.
The location of the flat is amazing, within a walking distance to all of Olhao best atractions.
It was an amazing stay, my family enjoyed it also.
The flat is fully furnished with everything you need to enjoy some fantastic holidays.
Great Hotel & Staff
Fabulous room .Comfy bed
Very close to lots of great restaurants.
We had room 421 , top floor ,very quiet with a fab view .Rooms 409 to 423 give you this view .Staff are great here & friendly too.
The place was clean, comfortable and convenient to walk around old town & go to the the markets, boats & restaurants nearby.
It was nice to have air conditioning upstairs & downstairs because Olhao is HOT.
Very charming spot in the center of the old town. Quiet, with lots of space for relaxing between the lounge and rooftop terrace with its panoramic views of Olhao.
