Peaceful lace to stay with lovely white sand beaches and warm sea which is easy to swim in.
Depending on where you stay on the island, (there are lots of small beaches all good, ) will depend on what services are available. since where we stayed had several resorts we ate a a different one each night. Bear in mind though this is an island and all food supplies etc are delivered from the main land so choices are limited.
although you can hire a Motorbike we found that the taxi worked well for us we did an island tour by taxi but you can also do it by boast. Most beaches have a taxi station. There is only one village in Koh Samed near the main pier.

Limited attractions unlike some other islands I have visited. Taxis are quite expensive but easy to walk to bars snd restaurants via the beach Beautiful island and wonderful beaches but plastic washed up with the tide every day. Helpful friendly people everywhere.
Ferries are very busy especially at weekends.

This is a small island with lots of small beaches, we stayed at one but visited others. We did a half island tour by Taxi. This is a great way to see the other beaches and some of the scenic spots. The taxi costs between 1,000 - 20000 bahts so its best to go as a group to reduce the individual costs/ We also did a boat tour of nearby islands with snorkeling and lunch. Need some energy to keep getting on and off the boat..but a good way to experience the islands.
Be aware you have to pay to enter the island as its national park and to visit other islands there is additional cost so hang on to your tickets if you intend to visit other isalnds.

The beaches were beautiful, and water is clear lovely for swimming. The only disappointment was the rubbish you saw away from the resorts as it’s a National Trust island they should use the money they collect from visitors in making it look cleaner.

The island felt too crowded and too empty at the same time... Felt very tourist-y, even compared to Bangkok. More expensive, a lot of people. Even though it is a "small" island, it is not easy to walk anywhere, especially if staying at a hotel further away from busy location. I would recommend Rayong!

It is a beautiful beach and a great atmosphere.
It is a beautiful beach and a great atmosphere. There where a good mix of families, singles couples. The fire show was one of the highlights from my month in Thailand. It was a spur of the moment trip from the Hard Rock where I was staying in Pattaya. A great place to stay by the way. Sunset was amazing, quaint down town area. Just make sure you time getting to ferry or you might have to wait two hours for the next ferry which was very inexpensive. If you do misss it there is a speed boat always available for 1,500 baht.
This is by far the nicest resort in Ao Vongduen. The resort is pristine and sits on its own peninsula. The rooms all offer outside sitting areas with ocean view. The staff was polite and very helpful. You can walk along the beach to all of the other restaurants, bars, and resorts in this cove. Breakfast was good, with eggs cooked to order, and a nice selection of Asian or western food. Very nice coffee machine that makes, Americans, latte, cappuccino, or mocha. Our dinner was fantastic, and the beachside setting is beautiful.
We stayed in a Junior Suite which had a beachfront view and was steps from the ocean.
Plenty of space and cabin was cleaned every day if you wanted. Free water and beach towels. Sunbeds with umbrellas and seat pads were very comfy.
Massage on the beach was excellent and cheap. Small coffee hut for hot/cold drinks.
Staff were friendly and most spoke good English.
Restaurant had good selection of Thai and western food.
Breakfast was ok, multicultural selection.
Local taxi always available on property.
Fantastic location, right on a beautiful beach.
Not far from the speed boat jetty.
The breakfast area is very nice and offering a good variety and quality.
The AC worked well.
All the staff were friendly and helpful, although they all seemed shy to speak English.
The bean bags on the beach are very comfortable.
Within easy walking distance to other restaurants and shopping street.
Thé location: just off Main Street but quiet. Comfortable bed, good shower. Nice to have access to the private beach at Minnie Sea View: (their other property with a restaurant on the beach with very decent food). They also rent scooters a bit cheaper than other places but they didn’t have any when we wanted it. Very responsive owners who speak English.
The Thanee is a cheap place and fair for price. The room is spacios and clean. The bed is hard, but we likes that. The breakfast is simple and the hotel has a restorant. We have eaten a couple of time, good thai food for normal price. The beach is very near, but there we have catched sand flyes, be carefull.
We didn’t eat at the hotel as we were only there for one night.
Location of the hotel is right on the beachfront with a little bar and bungalows for accommodation.
Views were stunning and only a short 15/20 min stroll from the pier.
Minnie the owner and her husband were lovely !
The location was amazing, right on the beach and in walking distance to the main bars/restaurants. The restaurant was great for snacks in the day and tasty pizzas. The staff were excellent and very attentive. We also loved the size and style of the rooms - overall, a great stay!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was superb, right on the beach, the pizzas were brilliant, & the bar was open until midnight (most other bars on the same beach close at 10:30pm).
Cheap price, kind staff, free scooter.
I reccomend this hotel for people that are on a budget, and just want a place to sleep, don't expect a nice view or room. It's as basic as it gets
clean spacious room, cold refrigerator and AC, great location on the beach with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, motorbike rental, and friendly staff
Nice hotel, very friendly and welcoming staff. Ideal location as Ao Phai and Sai Kaew beach are within walking distance. Larger than average room size.
