We were offered the Hotel as a substitute to a facility in Manhattan. We have not seen much from North Bergen. Originally, we expected we would be much closer to New York where we planned our program.
BUT it is quite convenient that there is a large supermarket (Target) and several fast-food restaurant within walking distance.

North Bergen is a safe neighborhood, it was quiet at night.
North Bergen is a safe neighborhood, it was quiet at night. Living in NJ is the best way to visit New York while having a car. Parkings are tough and expensive in NYC downtown. While you can live here paying less and maybe having a free parking for your car. you'll have shuttles coming and going throughout the day which can take you to Times Square for around (3-7$). but if you're visiting just for NY and you want to enjoy every moment of your day, I'll recommend not renting a car and living in the downtown area while everything is within walking distance from you.

We stayed for roughly a week's stay here.
We stayed for roughly a week's stay here. It's a small town, but it has the basics: food stores, dollar stores, and several other businesses. I felt safe walking around in day, and night. We mainly went to New York using public transportation, but North Bergen was a quiet, quaint, small town.

we found multiple roaches in the room, to which we basically got a shrug when we went to the lobby to tell them. above the night stand was missing a light, and there was this faint clicking noise that was constant throughout the entire stay. in addition all of the vending machines were broken and there was only one small cooler full of lukewarm water. elevators smelled weird.

Many guests we spoke to were going on a cruse so used the hotel as a car park and overnight stay not a place for a vacation stay in our opinion, there is nothing to do in walking distance of hotel so would need a car to get around. The place looked too industrial and very run down in the surrounding area, not a place for a family holiday with kids! You will need to be very fit if walking anywhere from hotel as it is on top of a very steep hill. There are no proper resturants nearby to our hotel, there is a bus stop opposite to get to New York. Wont be staying there again because of location but the staff were fantastic at fairfield hotel and suites by Marriott.

If you want to go to NYC from North Bergen the best option...
If you want to go to NYC from North Bergen the best option is taking public transit, about $3.50-5.10 one way. Due to the bridge tolls an Uber will cost about $35-60 one way. Getting TO New York via bus was very easy HOWEVER, taking the bus from the Port Authority Bus Station was extremely confusing. You have to select a bus (even though you usually have multiple buses that can take you to the same stop) and you also have to pick zones but they can change depending on the bus and not the location of your bus stop.
-Very friendly and patient staff.
-To go to NYC there is an alternative to the hotel's shuttle bus and it's an NJ transit pass discount ticket: you pay 29,50 Dollars instead of 35 and you get 10 rides. So instead of 3,5 Dollars or more, you only pay 2,95 per ride, which saves a bit of money.
The pass can be purchased only at any of the Port Authority (NYC) ticket machines.
The NYC metro card is not valid in New Jersey.
Water from our Bathroom, on the third Floor (3-313) was zipping down through the Floor into the Light Fixture on the Appartment of the Seconf Floor (2-313). If anyone would have turned on the light on the second floor bathroom (2-313) whomever of myself or my Grandson qould have ended up electrocuted!!!! This is a mayor issue. We were extremely concern. We will never stay at another "Choice Hotel after this fiasco!!!
I recommend it to everyone who wants a hotel to bounce from ny to nj
- Its cozy and 15 min walk away from the NJT bus station that takes you to nyc
- the room was not exceptionally clean but it was really great and smelled nice , decent internet and great tv
- Friendly staff in the reception
- decent breakfast
A practical, no-frills clean hotel with reasonable rates and free parking, at a half hour bus ride from NY midtown. Gym and free breakfast, with actual eggs and toast and pancakes, included. We had a room big enough for four with space to move around. The area seemed safe overall.
Great location near the Lincoln Tunnel with a shuttle that stops in front of hotel that drops off at Time Square and also return available. Rooms with microwave & fridge clean as well as a nice bathroom. Free parking available which is nice in a busy area.
Good location, not far from Manhattan/American Dream Mall. There are restaurants within a few minutes drive. Hotel had gated underground parking. Room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. We did use the pool: small, but clean with towels provided.
Breakfast is extreamly poor, and one day 20 minutos before the timeline for breakfast there was no more bagels, that was the only thing they offered. Also, the breakfast time close at 9 am, so early for an hotel.
Comfortable and very clean room, spacious and has high ceilings.
Polite staff,
Safe location and nice neighborhood (30 min to the NYC by bus, and the bus station is right in front of the hotel, big plus!)
The rooms were clean. The hotel was adequate, but it does need some TLC. The sofa in the room was all ripped up and the shower had rust spots near the shower head. The beds were comfortable.
The hotel was clean. The room was spacious and modern. The staff at the service desk were friendly, but we did have to call down several times in an evening about receiving fresh towels.
The check-in was a smooth process. The room was spotless and spacious enough. They also told us some recommendations like nearby restaurants from the property, and about transportation.
Hotel room was spacious, equipped with a fridge, microwave, TV, hairdryer, free parking. Clean towels and cleaning of the room every day, free tea and coffee at the lobby all day long.
Quick 7 minute walk to public transportation into New York City(only $3.50). Hotel was clean and had a good location. The bed was extremely comfortable!
