We visited in mid-April. Beautiful weather, but because of its altitude and proximity to the Sierra Nevada mountains it was cool in the evening (cooler than Seville) so although shorts weather in the day, bring something warmer for the evening. Lots to see and do - our visit was a last minute booking and we couldn't get tickets for the Alhambra - they book out weeks/months in advance. Not too disappointed - we will have to come again :-)
lots of great restaurants to visit

Obviously you must visit the Alhambra complex ( book a tour or buy entry tickets in advance ) and the Albacin area is very nice too. The hop on-hop off bus is good value at 9.45EUR for 24h. Local buses cheap at 1.40EUR per journey. Plenty of shopping for all, numerous bars and restaurants. Local sweet delicacy Pionono is an acquired taste.

Ganada is a lovely city as the entire Andalucia.
Ganada is a lovely city as the entire Andalucia. Was completely in love with the region. The city center is quiet compact and you can walk from old town to Albacin, Alhambra, Catedral etc...many tapas and restaurants options. The view of Sierra Nevada is gorgeous. I highly recommend to visit one of those Flamenco shows exhibit in the Gipsy caves :)

Granada is steeped in fascinating history and is incredibly beautiful. We were in need of a real break and got exactly that because this city is perfect for pottering about. The weather in April was lovely (25-29 degrees) so we also spent a lot of time just sitting on the roof terrace, reading and absorbing the incredible views of the valley with all the minarets and church towers.
For me, highlights were the "Muslim monuments" tour and visiting the Al Andalus hamman (not cheap as I included a scrub, massage and use of the pools and steam rooms). This place is really special as it was "opened in 1998 after being closed for 500 years" - you go down the stairs into history.
Lovely fish, lovely ice cream, lovely Sangria. Leave your diet at home.
One tip - if you want to see all of the Alhambra, book at least a month in advance. We didn't know this so it was sold out, even off season, but there was so much else to see it really didn't matter.
This is a lovely place to stay in the historical district near Alhambra ! Lovely room with wonderful view and retro design that I liked very much , typical Andalusian architectural style of the building , and walking distance to Alhambra . The staff was very nice and helpful . I enjoyed my stay . And would definitely stay there again. There are so many restaurants near by and the area is very lively and vibrant . You can her the sound of the river that is just next to the hotel . Definitely worth staying and enjoying Granada and Alhambra.
Lovely hotel. We were upgraded when we arrived to a large room on the first floor at the front. The beds are super comfortable, there was a fridge for our water, wine, etc. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with toiletries . The shower was the best I've experienced in years of travelling. The staff are helpful and professional. Special mention for Teresa who was always very helpful and informative. All in all this is a 3 star hotel giving 5 star service.
The room was superb - spacious, light, airy and very well appointed. As we were staying 3 nights, we were given a rather special room, fairly close the reception area, which occupied a corner of the building - highly recommended.
This was certainly the best hotel we stayed at during our 2 week tour of southern Spain. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast too and Granada - well what can one say 'it's divine!'.
Lovely small hotel with a perfect view of The Alhambra from the terrace where the charming owners offer drinks and small plates. Excellent breakfast and the chance to meet other interesting guests also visiting Granada. The best feature is the hosts, who go out of their way to make sure you have a comfortable stay. The beds are great, excellent shower and modern AC, all for a very reasonable price.
Perfect location in Granada close to all the major sites. There was a beautiful park right across the street. The second floor room we stayed in was in the central corner of the building with three accessible balconies and great views of the city street. Room was very clean and comfortable. My favorite hotel out of the 5 that I've stayed in Spain so far. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
This is an exquisite, charming small hotel in the old section of Granada just a 10 minute walk from the Alhambra. The coming rooms, the breakfast terrace and the guest rooms are lovely. Alejandro, the owner host, could not have been more helpful and friendly. Lots of literature and guide books about the Alhambra and all parts of Spain are on loan in the living room.
Always the best place to stay in Granada if you want to be relatively close to everything (and a few minutes walk from the train station), love comfort and a big hotel structure, and don't want to stay bang in the middle of the city centre. Staff is helpful and the rooms are great. Fitness centre, spaces to work and the breakfast at the downstairs cafe are great.
The room was great for the price. I was actually surprised when I arrived to see how good it was. here is a video of the room and a commentary of my stay. I would stay here again. Lovely traditional hotel in the heart of Granada with close-by views over the Alhambra. Excellent cooked breakfasts and a comfortable room. Many thanks to Ingo for aiding us in finding excellent restaurants and in visiting the best sites of the city. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
This hotel is really in another league. It says it's 3 stars but it's really like 10 stars. Grigor and Antonio made our stay the ultimate experience in Granada. The Shine is location location location with the best service and personalized attention. Thank you very much and see you soon
Toni was so excellent at the front desk - he honestly made our trip to Granada perfect by offering dining suggestions and ways to get to the places we wanted to see that would offer the best pieces of the city all at once. He was the most amazing concierge we met in Spain!
the front office super helpful with all the information about area surrounding and even with our need for laundry service. this was my favorite place to stay for my 2 weeks vacation Spain Portugal. I hope every property can be this nice and helpful
This was the best room we have stayed in in Spain, extremely comfortable, excellent bed, pillow, shower, good size, kettle with tea and coffee, I wish all hotels were like this one. We spent the rest of the trip missing this room.
The best appointed apartment that we have had in Spain, Portugal, or Tangier, these last two weeks. Kitchen, washing machine, drying rack, good mattress stiffness, great couch, great location, good lighting.
it was beautifully decorated, we felt we were in Spain. Also, the patio on the roof was awesome to simply sit and chill. The bed above the kitchen was also kid’s favorite.
Excellent staff, super friendly and flexible. Great location, superb apartments, really well thought design. Best aparthotel in Granada by far, still impressed.
