The location was perfect. It was far enough away from the road but not remote. The entire staff was delightful, informative and made us feel at home. The food was top notch - could deserve a Michelin rating!

So great to watch the northern lights without any hassle.
So great to watch the northern lights without any hassle. Just above you while you are on bed or few steps from your cabin. Just install the northernlight alert app and go enjoy your stay within the premises , it will sent alerts for the area you’re in and that’s what we did. Realy great experience and so magnificent to see the dancing colorful northern lights . Breathtaking . The location is perfect away from the city however the city center is not too far only around 5-6 kilometers.

This was a lovely place to stay.
This was a lovely place to stay. Bigger than some Lapland places we have stayed in but not too big. Probably around 5/6 restaurants and pubs, a really good supermarket and alko shop.
Only a 5 min bus ride from the north slopes of Yllas ski resort and plenty of outdoor adventure companies providing the standard stuff - snowmobiles, huskies, northern lights etc.

Great amenities including an extensive network of cross country ski trails with a supermarket, a few shops, restaurants and sports shops in the centre and amazing boreal forest all around. Known as The Village Surrounded By Seven Fells (hills), Äkäslompolo is a place where you can ski and ski, easily getting away to more remote places. There are small cabins dotted about in the forest (all well signposted) where you can buy food and hot or cold drinks (or even stay the night at some) and others where there are fire pits and traditional "kota" shelters where you can rest, warm up and cook sausages. Great for adults and kids alike. Some of the groomed trails pass over the hills and above the tree line so there are good views along the way. The trail network caters for walkers, skiers, cyclists and skiers with dogs, all in the same vicinity, but sufficiently separated for safety and enjoyment. There are saunas at almost all the accommodations and lake / river swimming or plunge pools year round. Good public transport links to Kittila airport, Kolari train station and Rovaniemi.

Fantastic skiing atmosphere.
Fantastic skiing atmosphere. Everywhere skiing tracks and no matter of time people on tracks. Ski resort has a lot of off-piste skiing areas.
Temperature in Febrauary can surprise skiiers from south :) Viseversa on mountain temperatures were up to 20 degrees milder that in valley. Landscape is absoultely mindblowingly beautiful. Our week long stay was too short and we defenately will be back for hiking season or longer cross country skiing vacation.

Great little town, supermarket has everything, restaurants are great, but closed in evenings after 6 due to Covid. Eat out in the afternoon's instead. Loads to do, saw spectacular aurora (northern lights) most every night.
Bus from kittila airport is easy.

Really nice place for winter sports!
Really nice place for winter sports! Well kept ski tracks for long distances with small cafes every few kilometers. Not many evening restaurants or other things to do than skiing in the evenings. Perfect for nature lovers, who aren’t too adventurous.
The landlord was always ready to make the changes if needed (e.g sauna times) and also a text message away if we needed him, responded quickly. The door code makes it easy and comfortable to arrive and leave. There was enough place to park. Walking and skiing tracks nearby. Possible to go shopping on foot. Northren Lights in the sky if you go outside after the great sauna. For us it was second time staying there and we have fallen in love with the house and Lapland.
The cabin is nicely decorated and well stocked with everything for a holiday stay. While its secluded its a short walk into the village for the shops and restaurants. Got lovely balcony overlooking nature. Bus stop nearby meaning you dont really need a car to get around. Village is small but have lots to offer, everyone were helpful and welcoming. Plenty of activities nearby.
the lodge was brand new and very comfortable. the houses are very good located, close to the lake, but still in an oasis of silence between the trees. it felt like staying in the woods. Every home is very well equipped and has it own private wooden sauna. it was everything we had in mind when we came to Lapland.
The decoration in the upstairs common room was very inviting and created a cozy vibe. The young woman welcoming us and cooking our breakfast was very friendly and it was nice chatting to her and the other guests in the kitchen. The B&B was a short walk away from several restaurants in the very small town.
Great location and value for money. Not overpriced like so many places. Big plus for the fireplace and floor heating that is must for this kind of cabin for winter sports. Also great that pets were allowed to visit inside. Kids loved the upstairs where there is surprisingly plenty of room!
It was a cozy little cabin with a nice fireplace, wood and everything you need. You can also easily borrow sleds and go to the village (15 mins by foot) and also 10 mins to the lake. It’s a perfect spot to see northern lights! We had a great time in Äkäslompolo and in the cabin.
Lovely house in great location, sense of privacy even if there are other houses around.
Lovely sauna with direct access to the garden for refreshing dip in the snow!
The mezzanine great for kids den.
Wifi was great an added bonus was acces to streaming services and music.
Very nice cabin/apartment (one house split into two apartments with own front doors). New and fresh with your own sauna, dishwasher and washing machine. Nice and quiet area among other new houses. Perfect for two people.
It was a bit tricky to find the house, since the numbering is bit strange there, but finally we found it. Clean cottage, with a nice fire place and comfortable bed. Sauna was amazing the surroundings are exceptional.
Location was excellent, just next to Äkäshotelli and skiing tracks. Short walking distance to Äkäslompolo village with restaurants and shopping opportunities. Perfect for two persons.
Great location. Yllãs is a fantastic base for Lapland activities. The Kota hut was amazing as were the fat bikes and sledges. Squirrels loved to visit the feeder on the veranda.
An extremely friendly hostel, comfortable beds, nice sauna, and Pekko is very helpful. And hey, I got to attend a small music festival in the common room.
