I liked everything! Spotless, great bed, wide spaces, good breakfast. But best of all is the owner, Sophie Coumbis, what an amazing person!

This reservation was unilaterally canceled/changed by the hotel while I was traveling to Dakar from Dubai on a journey of over 15 hours without internet access. When I arrived at the Radisson Blu in Dakar, they simply said that the reservation was for the next day, without offering any alternatives. I was left without a hotel and not knowing where to go after being awake for more than 24 hours. They even tried to deceive me by saying that I had made a mistake with the reservation dates. Unacceptable and disastrous. My recommendation is to avoid this hotel, and Booking.com also did nothing to rectify the situation. I do not recommend this hotel, they are scammers and Booking.com does not defend its customers.

Goree Island is a trip most people make for just a day from Dakar. However 1 or 2 nights is even more special. The journey takes 20 minutes on the ferry and is an easy journey. Remember your passport to get on the ferry. The island is tiny, in 30 minutes you can walk all of it. It’s very picturesque.
The main place to visit it tinged with terrible historical sadness. The House of Slaves (Maison des Esclaves) tells the history of millions of slaves who were kidnapped from West Africa for the Americas. There’s little else to see, but many artists, little shops and goats and cats everywhere. It’s a place to relax and switch off.

Small island with lots of history, old and well kept houses and a small community that probably completely depends on tourism. Wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle from Dakar.
Food is local and mainly at the beach and closes early.
Try other guesthouses such as adame on the other side of the island, which has sea view, airco and is treat for families and bigger groups.getting around by walking is easy and nice to explore the island. Either way. The only other vehicle is donkeys (mainly used for heavy loads and garbage).
One night is perfect. Two nights is very relaxing. 3 is a bit much.

Goree is an island paradise with a horrific history.
Goree is an island paradise with a horrific history. With the right guide you will learn about the tragic history of the slave trade all the while wandering around a peaceful, tranquil, beautiful island. I recommend that you stay the night. Evening is warm, beautiful and peaceful, and there are good restaurants. I highly recommend a visit!
