We had a great stay at Vista do Lago Jungle Lodge! From the start, the friendly staff made our visit fun and comfortable. We really appreciated the coordinated transport from Manaus and, later, back to the airport. The hospitality was great, and the food was delicious. The excursions were awesome. We tried a bunch of them, and each one was a new adventure. Kennedy, our English-speaking guide, was full of fun stories and a wealth of information about the plants, animals, and local culture. We learned so much from him, and he made sure we had a great time. It was a great way to explore and get to know the Amazon!

I will never forget bathing in the beautiful stream which becomes a river in winter. The food was amazing and the tours very personal and intimate. However the best thing about this lodge is the owner, Alexandre, whose has a big heart for the animals and nature surrounding him. He agreed not only to feed the starving neighbors dog, but came up with the idea of taking that poor dying animal to his beautiful lodge, to feed it and even provide medical care. This is what we did on my last day - we went to the neighbor and brought the thinnest dog which wouldn't even move to his lodge, we washed it, fed it and provided first help for its damaged skin and open wounds. Alexandre is a very special person with a big big heart - God bless him and give him strength and power to help and care for those who so badly need it. My stay was an unforgettable, unique and beautiful experience - I will definitely be back to check on the rescued dog, who we renamed Mariposa, meaning a big brown butterfly in indigenous language and spend more time in this beautiful place.
