The rooms come with a patio with mountain views. The house is completely new and modern, and most photos don't show the truth (as of september 2022). It's much better than expected. I was expecting to make my own bed as many reviews talk about (which would be totally fine), but that was not the case. We only needed to clean the kitchen, as in every other place. Appliances were great, with space enough, comfortable room and beds, nice bathroom(s). We saw the owner briefly and he seemed nice too. Can't evaluate how it would have been with other guests since we were the only ones, but the walls seemed solid enough.

Guesthouse Stekkaból’s rooms have a modern and neutral décor and bathroom facilities are shared. Room size is in line with most rooms in Iceland. If you are 2, you'll have to manage with not having your bags open all the time. Common kitchen and living room are great. Breakfast was one of the best in our trip. Common baths were enough, luckily we did not have to wait to shower. Not in walking distance from supermarket, but very close to Stukuhusid nice restaurant and the public swimming pool, both great.

We booked the three person room for just my husband and I so we could get a private bathroom. We lucked out and were the only ones booked for the night on the ground floor, so we could make use of the kitchen area and living room fully (loved all the local books + maps). It was super cozy and hosts were very thoughtful to provide free coffee grounds and tea! We had a very restful night and morning! If you stay and there are others booked on your floor for the three person room, it would still be pretty private even thought bathroom was in a separate door from bedroom and you needed to use a separate key to get in. The hosts installed a small curtain to let you go between bedroom and bathroom privately.
