Cute little room, loved all the sustainable wood features. Owner very passionate and motivated, seemed like a great guy. Only two rooms, nice balcony overlooking the jungle. Great Sri Lankan breakfast served on the balcony. Only spent one night but would have stayed more if they weren’t booked. Highly recommended.

Hotel offer you real espresso with sri lanka coffe beans. Room are clean and very nice design. However the hotel ist in 1400 atitude , room was warm and cozy. Owner and his staff are polite and always in good mood and ready to help you.

Situated just 6.6 km from Demodara Nine Arch Bridge, Shining Green View offers accommodation in Ella with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. What a surprise - I booked this place on the morning of arrival and couldn’t be luckier! Absolutely stunning views, rooms are facing the hills and you can’t see or hear anything but amazing nature and wildlife. Spacious bathroom and comfortable room, super pleasant balcony as well. The 2 gentleman running the place were extremely helpful and smiley, and prepared an amazing breakfast! It’s a Sri Lankan breakfast with dal and coconut sambal (thanks for the recipe!) and unless you’re a very picky eater you’ll love it. It’s located 30min walk from center of Ella but you want to avoid that area anyway as it’s pretty touristy. Focus on the trails, hills and tea plantations.

Nilowin Glenanore Guesthouse is situated in a part of Glenanore tea estate close to Haputale. This family-run guesthouse offers a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. To begin with, I love Nilowin this place a lot. It was so amazing to stay at this lovely and beautiful place with full of love, help and support from the family Saman,Shan, Madushi, Sujatha and the lovely dog mummy Ruby and puppies. 1. For me, I always care more about the people of the place. And about Nilowin, it’s just amazing to have met this lovely and warm family. Saman, the older brother who is not only just the host for me, he also tried to give me a lot of good tips about traveling Sri Lanka, like sharing the route of trekking around our place to the railway trail, and also accompanied me and another guest to the top of tea plantation to see the nice sunset and also walked through the village, and also he shared a lot of good ideas about his cooking school plan and showed me the kitchen and garden he is going to build etc. And Shan, the younger brother is really fun and interesting person and always prepares the food I love for me everyday and also took me to the Sunday market to buy fruits and tuna, and when I go out of Nilowin, he always drives me to the station and when I come back he will pick me up. And Madushi, the wife of Saman , she is a little bit shy but super cute and friendly and helpful, yes , she even taught me how to cook pork curry with potatoes ( I love it a lot even though it’s super spicy). And Sujatha, the mother of two brothers, she is also lovely and likes smiling a lot every time when she sees me, and one more thing about the mother Sujatha, she cooks so tasty food , onion sambol, egg hoppers, rice and curry , fried rice, western breakfast, milk rice , coconut rotti etc, I love all the food she cooks. And the dog family Ruby and puppies just make my stay at Nilowin so happy and full of sweet memories, I love to hug them and pat them, and every time when I open the cage for them , I love to see them jump on me and kiss me, they just warm and melt my heart.
