L'Olivier is a sunny, light filled south facing village house, in the heart of a lovely traditional wine-making village. It has recently been carefully renovated to provide characterful but up to date facilities for a relaxing stay, which must be for a minimum of 4 days. The kitchen is particularly well equipped and complements the dining area and two outside eating areas. There are both a south-facing terrace and a courtyard which offers sun but also a shaded dining area for the summer, the courtyard also has a gas barbecue. There is a spacious garage and separate laundry area. Please note the Flat Screen TV is only for DVD's etc no live TV.
We are David and Brenda and have spent part of our year in Neffiès for the past 12 years. We endeavour to be there to welcome our guests, but when that is not possible our friend Mathilde is on hand. We are always contactable by phone and email, and when in the village, live next door. We are happy to answer any questions you may have before arrival and have prepared a comprehensive guide to the house and village as well as our own local guide book.
Neffies is a lovely medieval circulade village which is both lively and relaxing. It has a population of around 1100 and supports two excellent restaurants, one of which is also a bar. There is a boulangerie/epicerie about 150M from the front door. The village makes an excellent base for discovering Occitanie, Languedoc Rousillon as it used to known! Many of our guests have used it as a base for exploring the region, hiking, cycling and by car. The historic cities of Montpellier, Beziers and Narbonne are less than an hour away and close at hand is the lovely market town of Pézenas with its grand "Hotels Particuliers", two theatres, several museums and a great saturday market. Lake Salagou is just over the hills behind us and is great for swimming and water sports away from summer crowds on the coast. There is truly spectacular landscape such as the Cirque de Navacelles close at hand and the Pyrenees and Camargue are each about 2 hours by car. Of course the opportunities for wine tasting are limitless. Even after 11 years, we keep discovering new and interesting places and things.
