Maison du Coquelicot is a sympathetcally restored village stone house. Breakfast is included and evening meals are offered. Tourouzelle is in the Minervois wine region of France, located between Carcassonne, Béziers and Narbonne and the Mediterranean beaches are about 25 minutes drive. We offer bike hire, guided walks, drawing & photography. We have a single room, family room and a delux double bedroom with an interior private bathroom. We offer a menu for our evening meals served in the courtyard or in the Art Nouveau dining room.
Simon & Wendy are from England, they relocated to France in June 2019. They both speak English, French and a little Spanish & Italian Previously, Simon worked in corporate finance, before working as a chef. Wendy was a teacher, but has also worked in Sales and Hospitality. Together, with their experience, they make a great team, to make your holiday an enjoyable, tasty and relaxing experience.
Tourouzelle is a beautiful, old stone village, which sits on a ledge overlooking the Aude valley and the beautiful Montagne Noire mountain range. We are surrounded by vineyards, garrigues and a forest. Which makes it a scenic area for walking, cycling, birding and photography. The Canal du Midi is just 2km away, which has a tow-path alongside, allowing you to safely walk, or cycle, to pretty villages, with cafés and wine domains. In Tourouzelle we have about 7 independant wine domaines offering dégustations (wine tastings), there is a café, a post office, library, 2 shops, 2 hairdressers and a seasonal fruit shop. Our nearest beach is at Lac de Jouarres just 4km away, while the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are only 27km away. Some have dog friendly areas too. Local attractions include: Carcassonne and many Cathar Castles to explore; the beautiful médiéval villages of Minerve & Lagrasse; the huge bookshop and canalside cafés at Le Somail; evidence of Roman occupation & a Roman museum; dinosaur museum; antique markets; wine tasting; beautiful caves; and a donkey sanctuary where you can book in to groom or walk the donkeys.
