You will find Tigh Na Mara (House by the Sea) on the Black Isle, only a short scenic drive from the beautiful city of Inverness. Just a few steps from the stunning sandy beach in the pretty village of Rosemarkie, the Guest House offers stylish en-suite bedrooms, most with sea views. There is an excellent choice of nearby eateries, local pubs, golf club, museum, church, local shops and beach café. Dolphins/other wildlife, as well as wild swimmers can be spotted from the sea view rooms. Chanonry Point, world-famous for dolphin-spotting, is only a short walk along the beach. The nearby RSPB Fairy Glen boasts stunning walks and 2 beautiful waterfalls. Local busses stop only a 3-minute walk away to take you to the quaint coastal town of Cromarty or right into the heart of Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. Whether it’s a romantic break for two, a golfing weekend or a wildlife extravaganza, Tigh Na Mara is a great place to stay, and you will be assured of a very warm welcome with lots of great memories to take away and treasure. Breakfast is delicious and is available to add upon arrival and Crofters, a great licenced Bistro 2 doors down, offers ice-creams & food-8pm 7 days a week.
Come to stay with us here at Tigh Na Mara, in our beautiful “house by the sea". We have so many guests who return year upon year and we would like to add you to that list! We aim to make every guest’s stay a truly enjoyable experience and we are always happy to help. We know the area well and can offer good advice for local trips or ventures further afield to visit such as Dunrobin Castle in Golspie, seals in Dornoch, salmon leaps etc. We have a lovely Labrador dog called Beau who is very friendly, playful and adores chasing balls/stones down the beach and swimming in the sea. He should not bother you though as we generally keep him out of guest areas (we know not all our guests are dog lovers) but if you would like to meet him or even take him for a walk, just ask and we can arrange it:) There are so many beautiful places to visit in our local area- it is a truly beautiful part of the world, and we hope that you will stay longer than just one night so that you can properly explore and experience the uniqueness of the Black Isle and all that it has to offer… We recommend stays of 3 or 4 nights but why not stay a full week?... it offers better value! Beach, golf and dolphins are the main attractions here! Dolphins, seals, porpoises, otters and whales can all be spotted from Chanonry Point which is only a short walk away along the beach. Popular holiday activities include fishing, sailing, walking, swimming, snorkelling and kayaking… There are several lovely places to eat and drink only a few short footsteps away from Tigh Na Mara. The nearest, Crofters Bistro is only two doors down the road and it, the local Beach Café, the Plough Inn and Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Course all serve food. There are several more excellent eateries and watering holes within a 15-minute walk in the nearby town of Fortrose. The Highland scenery is absolutely stunning so wherever you venture roundabout, you will be in for a treat! Not to be missed is a visit to Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal and don’t forget to visit the odd castle or two! Then there are the whiskey trails where you can also sample the local Scotch or visit the nearby Black Isle Brewery. Inverness only a few minutes drive away offers all the vibrance and culture you would expect from a city including live music, theatre, shopping and excellent cuisine and bars.
