Phenomenal staff. Phenomenal location. I wish I could have stayed longer. When I needed to cut my trip short, the owner was very understanding and helpful. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Bicycles are available free of charge at this inn and the area is popular for hiking. Schackenborg Castle and the German border are both within 20 minutes’ drive. Sønderborg Airport is an hour’s drive away. Peaceful location in lovely grounds. Not a standard hotel - a bit more communal (unforced) eg all eat dinner at 6 pm with a focus on finding peace and slowing down . Many rooms to read and study in. The manager showed us around and explained the concept even though we were really just passing through. Also very good value for money by Danish standards

The restaurant serves a la carte lunch and dinner, and has an all-day coffee and cocktailbar. We liked every single thing about the property! The rooms are spacious with a sofa, kettle and two desks, the bathroom was bare but spacious. The breakfast was lovely, the staff super friendly, funny and chatty. There are also two water bikes available to use on the river and there’s even a spot outside (that isn’t part of the hotel) with picnic tables. The decor is lovely and the beds are super comfortable.
