The food was sublime! Seriously. Everything tasted amazing. The cabins themselves are very high quality. They did not cut corners. Everything you need is in the kitchen and the washing machine worked great too. The private bath with large window was a centerpiece and a soak in the tub was transformative!!

Yakusugi Land is 17 km from the lodge, while Shiratani Unsuikyo is 28 km away. The nearest airport is Yakushima Airport, 7 km from Cottage Kutsuroki.

Very good option as Cottage Kutsuroki are standalone bungalows so no noise issues at all. Extra convenience of car parked right at door, easy to load suitcases etc. Very good well stocked kitchen and finally, after days of thin futon beds, nice to have “normal” mattress beds to sleep on! Good heating. Nice shower and bath adequate. Very good location at Anbo

Babara was a very friendly host! We enjoyed speaking with her and spending time with the other guests. It's a friendly communal vibe in the house. Also the house is a traditional 100 year old japanese wooden house, our room even had cedar wood ceilings!

Very good value for money, in a traditional rural Japanese house. Placed in a very peaceful location in the island, the lady was very nice and the lodging was great. I couldn’t afford the ryokans in my stay in Japan, so this was a good substitute, and was also the best place I stayed in in Japan

The lodge is absolutely beautiful and has everything one could need. The host is very friendly and gave us some very useful suggestions. The neighborhood is very green and peaceful and we enjoyed daily interactions with chickens and a very jumpy goat. We will definitely stay again if we visit Yakushima again.
