Hotel in San Cristóbal de Las Casas
Ideally situated in the center of San Cristobal de las Casas, this hotel is less than 3 blocks from the city's main square and offers a variety of convenient amenities for the modern traveler. This hotel is was the best value for money. A rustic setting as a former hacienda but it feels totally new and refreshed. The rooms are awesome, good size room as if your at home, large beds, soft pillows, hot shower and quiet with thick walls. Breakfast was great, my wife felt it was our best in all of Mexico, friendly staff with prompt service at a reasonable price. Location is great, 3 blocks to the city center, a 6 min walk along these narrow streets. The reception staff are the best. We arrived quiet early for check in, 4 hours early, and they turned around our room in an hour and allowed us to park our bags and then enter our room. Emma, on the front desk, printed out our flight boarding passes at no cost, booked taxis and our passage to the Airport at Tuxla Gutierrez. Customer service 10 out 10, service with a genuine smile and care for the customer.
Hotel in San Cristóbal de Las Casas
Casa Venus is located in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, less than 1 km from Na Bolom Museum and a 10-minute walk from Amber Museum. This is a great hotel! Good "centro" location, nice clean rooms friendly helpful and mostly bilingual Spanish/English staff. The hotel is affiliated with the restaurant next door. The food was excellent, and if you tell them you are staying at the hotel they offer a small discount. Secure parking is available on the same block, the price is discounted for hotel guests, it is 15 Pesos/hour. I am on a motorcycle and secure parking is important to me. On-street parking is VERY difficult to find. The hotel does not have AC, but given the elevation of the area I was quite comfortable without it. The manager is a young man named Ben and he is THE BEST!
Hotel in San Cristóbal de Las Casas
Noma Bed & Breakfast in San Cristóbal de Las Casas provides adults-only accommodation with a garden, a shared lounge and a restaurant. I’ve traveled a ton but this was one of the best places I’ve ever stayed at. San Cristobal is certainly a pueblo mágico but Iván at Noma makes it even more magical. I was travelling on my own (with a sprained ankle no less) and felt very much taken care of by Ivan, Antonia the cook and the rest. I felt like Ivan bent over backwards to ensure my stay was good: his recommendations were the best, he lined up my tours and even helped me buy my bus ticket to the airport. In addition, he knows everything about chocolate and makes his own - you’ll be gifted with a piece when you check in! He’s an absolute resource - from his knowledge about chocolate to the best places to explore in San Cris to politics. Noma is equally wonderful where there is so much attention to detail and ensuring local and sustainable products are used - from the soaps to textiles to food. The daily cleaning is much appreciated and you get to meet other fellow-travellers who are also lovely (Noma seems to attract them). This is even better than staying at home lol - it felt like a sanctuary with truly lovely people and at a great price. Will definitely be back!

Hot, dirty way station between Mexico and Central America. An interesting mix of people mostly living in grinding poverty in Chiapas, one of the poorest states in Mexico. Everyone I met was charming, welcoming and helpful. Saludos and buen surete to all! But the only reason to visit Tapachula is to leave. Fast!
It's a town of two halves - the tourist enclave of La Canada and the town itself, which it hot, lively and very interesting with a great choice of bars and restaurants. Palenque ruins are magnificent and very close by. We also drove to Misol Ha waterfall which was beautiful, as was the scenery en route. Didn't get as far as Agua Azul due to being stopped on the road by locals with home-made 'stingers', who wanted 500 pesos to let us pass (I suspect the amount may be up for negotiation). We'd already been driving for a while so decided to turn round and head back, which seemed to confuse them! They weren't aggressive or unpleasant so we weren't frightened at any stage. If you've come into Chiapas from the Yucatan peninsula, be aware that you'll need to allow more time for driving distances, as the roads are in much worse condition.
You have to pay to get inside the community. It seems like that happens a lot in the insides of Chiapas. You are forced to pay "quotas" to be able to obtain access to the neiborhoods, parks, and others. I am almost certain that the convenience store I used for internet access used the information in my phone to file a "claim" to order a new iPhone. I was not impress with the location. I think you are better off staying in other locations.
Museum featured fabulous textiles professionally exhibited from Chiapas and Guatemala. Gift shop bright, airy, reasonably priced, unique articles, very helpful staff. Handcrafts outside museum gates very good.
The Parque de la Marimba is a must to really get the feeling of Chiapas. Tuxtla is near almost all great locations in Chiapas: Cañón del Sumidero, San Cristóbal, San Juan Chamula, Palenque... You decide what you want to do: nature, extreme sports, town visiting, eating...
Palenque is rich of history and nature. The Palenque ruins are really worth. But we were really impressed by the jungle. Also we had a very good experience with the local agency Eco Experiencias, as we are nature lovers and with them we could learn a lot about the wild life in the jungle, we swam in some nice waterfalls. If we had some more days there, we would also try rafting and visit some more places in Chiapas. The people in Palenque are really nice. There are restorants, bars and souvenir shops in the center of the city. We easily found an internet club too and enjoyed the folklor dance festival in the center.
Tapachula is has many stores to buy goods from and its a very nice city to visit in Chiapas. Not to mention that the Guatemala border is about 35 kilometers away. Easy crossing, and no hassle.
We did a jungle tour with a guide named Gabriel. It was amazing! His page is called Palenque Chiapas Mexico Tour Agency. Aluxes animal rescue park was also a really cool place to see jungle animals and support a good cause.
Cozy City, nice and authentic market. It’s easy to get around downtown without bus or car. We enjoyed the restaurants and cafes. It’s a perfect spot for planning trips in Chiapas, like Palenque, Agua Azul etc.
The town is fascinating in itself, full of life and character and easy to walk to every point of interest if you stay in the centre. It is a great place to strike out from for excursions in Chiapas.
Palenque
Amazing!!! The location, with its gorgeous garden and all the wild life sounds, but most of all the animals! The lovely monkeys (and other animals, pet dogs and cats), that the host takes care of within het sanctuary/rescue project! The rooms are spacious and well equipped (good AC and even a big fridge). Another high point is the rich and fresh breakfast! I would recommend this stay to anyone that loves animals and the nature (of gorgeous Chiapas, Mexico)
The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional, ensuring daily room cleaning. The hotel radiates cleanliness with a charming, artistic, and spiritual ambiance. Its central location eliminates the need for taxis or buses. Billy, the owner, was delightful, offering helpful directions and city recommendations. I'm grateful for the early morning check-in, especially after a long trip to Chiapas. I eagerly anticipate staying there again in the future.
It was probably the most clean hotel we have stayed during our 1 month trip in Mexico. Very nice location, close to everything, free parking for the car, basic but extremely clean rooms, spotless sheets and blankets. Coffee, water and some snacks always available. The price was good, and Comitan itself surprised us being very lovely, welcoming and nice city. We had great time there, definitely will stay again when exploring more places in Chiapas!
Comitán de Domínguez
A great host that was quick to answer any problems we had. One day the gas finished and she had it changed in an hour. The location was very good near the center of town and close to the bus station. It is very easy to arrive from other areas of Chiapas and to get a collectivo to the waterfalls. The apartment is safe and secure. The design was very nice, clean and modern inside. The shower was very good with hot water and good pressure.
Comfortable mattress. Super hot water. Friendly staff. Wifi was fine but probably depends which room you get. It was very accessible from the highway but still easy to walk into the centre. There didn't seem to be a carpark but we did not ask because when we arrived there was a free spot directly in front of the hotel. Overall, given the prices in the tourist areas of Chiapas, this hotel has an excellent price-quality ratio.
San Cristóbal de Las Casas
Planet Hostel is absolutely amazing! Beautiful, colorful, super clean hostel in the central area of San Cristobal. And the most important, 10 out of 10 points for the amazing Guy working at the hostel - Erik! Super nice and helpful, thanks to him we managed to organize amazing trips around Chiapas for a very good price. Erik is the best!! ❤
the hotel is a gorgeous museum of regional history and culture with a huge garden out back with meandering pathways. the restaurant is excellent — try the Chiapas specialty Pach-Ha breakfast caldo! absolutely delicious. also the fireplace in my room was an incredible luxury and the bathroom was very nice. the staff were incredibly helpful.
Palenque
This place has in one of the most beautiful settings I have ever seen. The location and the grounds of the hostel are amazing, the staff are wonderful, the restaurant has delicious food, and all the facilities are really good. You can book tours to all the amazing places in Chiapas on site. The colectivos also pass directly out the front.
San Cristóbal de Las Casas
What a lovely place to stay for our first trip to Chiapas. Beautiful grounds, spacious apartment, really accommodating (and patient!) staff. We rented the apartment, so it came with a full kitchen, bedroom, living room and office. We LOVED making a fire every night in the living room. The property is a little Oasis!
We LOVED the location of this small hotel. The Staff were outstanding and tried very hard to please us with our requests. The decor was lovely. We loved the animals, monkeys and little crocodilla. The jungle was amazing - I LOVE Chiapas jungle. Macaws, and monkeys and everything was perfect.
San Cristóbal de Las Casas
El Mirador is my home away from home in Chiapas. I am on the autism spectrum and they always give me exactly what I need to thrive. It’s more like a family to me than just a hostel. The staff, guests, the vibe, the weather, and, of course, Luisa, The Cat. :-)
Eveything in this hotel is perfect. The staff was attentive to our needs. The food was delicious and variable. At the same time the hotel's decoration was amazing. It has a colonial and traditional Chiapas style. The room also had eveything we needed.
Very nice and confortable colonial hotel just a few meters away from the main square of one of the most beautiful village of Chiapas. Room was very quite with all usual facilities...surrounded by a lush vegetation and a nice swimming pool.
We absolutely loved this hotel. The location is ideal, the staff super friendly and the room very clean. It was definitely my favorite hotel throughout our Chiapas trip. The hotel is also super quiet at night which is a huge plus.
La Fortuna Gallo Giro
This ecolodge is like a dream. The location next to the river and waterfall are unreal. The food at the restaurant is also very good. I stayed at three difference ecolodges in Chiapas, and this was by far the best.
Camino Real is Family operated & The attention shown to us was impeccable…It has been the highlight of our accommodations on an extended on going road trip through Chiapas Mexico…
Big room, helpful and english speaking staff, really helpful. It is not common in Chiapas. Owner invited us for special mexican dinner in the hotel, it was delicious.
San Cristóbal de Las Casas
Good hostel, good people, good tips to discover thé Chiapas and San Cristóbal.
the hotel with beautiful gardens made me feel that I was truly in Chiapas
Location is excellent, experience as well, we had rain in one of the days and was one of the best experiences in my life.
