Positive: Skyrail and historic train, nature, pool in Cairns, boardwalk, Botanical Gardens (absolute highlight!!!). Don't miss Emerald Creek Ice Creamery - lots of varieties and very yummy! Dundee's restaurant offered outstanding food and an incredible venue with a massive fish tank to look at while dining, it's pricey, but worth it. The Daintree is as exciting as ever. Solar Whisper Croc Cruise was really good. Daytrip to Atherton Tablelands was lovely. Rusty's market is a must! Only downside of Cairns: dining is fairly expensive in general.

We went at the start of the dry season.
We went at the start of the dry season. The weather was very warm but still humid.
Cairns central has great public facilities.
The swimming lagoon is fantastic for all ages and has surf lifesavers in attendance. BBQ cookers all along the Esplanade, excellent playgrounds.
Muddy Waters in particular, the kids went crazy.
Of course you go for the reef trips and the train trip and the Skyrail up to Kuranda village. A lovely day out in beautiful rainforest.
Port Douglas and Mossman are a drive north if you have the time, they are another must see in this scenic part of north Queensland.
A drive up onto the Tablelands opens up a different part of the area. Natural and historical attractions. It's worth the drive.

A worn and sadly lacking site.
A worn and sadly lacking site. It has all the hallmarks of investors who rake in the money but don't spend any money or maintenance and improvements. They could raise their star rating if they cared to invest in renovation., The lady at the front desk was very friendly;y. What a shame she has to represent such a sad venue.

There is little opportunity to interact with people outside of those in our circle of the delegation, including the hosts and those slotted in the program, during that trip. I would like to see more people to people interaction.

Excellent location.
Excellent location. You may not need a rented car if you stay in the central location. We stayed here for 5 days. Went to Great Barrier Reef, Green Island, Used the sky rail to go to Kurandra and came back by Scenic Rail. Snorkling at both Green Island and Great Barrier Reef was too good.
Spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation in a great location. It is located just a few minutes walk along the boardwalk from the restaurants, swimming lagoon and other activities in central Cairns. It is not as upmarket as some of the other Cairns hotels but it is excellent value for money and would be great for a family holiday as it has apartments with kitchen facilities and is just across the road from a childrens playground and water play area and a cafe. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
The Abbott Boutique Hotel was so nice we stayed there twice -- for a couple nights before a dive trip and again after we returned to Cairns. Peter and his team are fantastic and friendly, and the hotel is perfectly located to explore Cairns without even needing a car. On arrival we received a room upgrade and it was so spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend this place, it is really a gem in the heart of Cairns.
Really spacious apartments, we were lucky enough to get to stay in 2 of them. The beds were extremely comfortable and the pillows even more so.
Management were very kind, helpful and responsive. We put in more than one request and each time it was dealt with promptly and efficiently and nothing was too much.
Location was very good, close to cairns central shopping centre and a short walk to the esplanade and city centre.
Hotel tropiq was by far our best stay in cairns - great wifi in room & by pool, lovely & super helpful staff, felt safe, very clean room with kettle, fridge & microwave, towels and you even get complimentary chocolates & shower gels! It’s also only a 15-20 min walk mostly along the beach to the main esplanade in cairns centre - Wish we’d stayed here the whole time & would definitely stay again!
Good location for walking to the Esplanade and some good restaurants. The rooms were clean but also lacked character. There were no gardens visible. The hotel is just on a fairly busy street but gets quiet at night. The locked off street parking that was included was great. Pool was nice but on a busy street corner right outside the pool.
The room is very nicely decorated and not boring. Fully aircon and with fans. Large room with enough space for my family. The location is very good as it is near the city and walking distance to the esplanade. Jackie has also put a lot of thoughts in setting up the apartment and also provide books and board games for you to enjoy.
Great location, brilliant staff- helpful and friendly, value for money. Our go to hotel in Cairns. Rooms are a decent size, comfortable beds and great shower. Very pleasant public area with seating for reading or relaxing. Close to everything you need in Cairns, especially the Esplanade.
Close proximity to esplanade and prime area. Rooms need renovation. It's kind of old and still well maintained. Grocery store was next door. Great restaurants around the hotel. We were able to walk to our Reef tour from the hotel. When it comes to location, this hotel is probably best.
Location of the hotel was good for checking out Cairns. It was also close to the Marina where boats leave for Great Barrier Reef Trips. The breakfast included in our rate was also good. The room itself was comfortable and the outside patio was nice to sit out on and watch the sunset.
our room was lovely and very clean, we enjoyed the pool area and the location of the hotel was great and so convenient to the tourist hub of Cairns, the breakfast was more than adequate with a great choice and the staff in your breakfast area were exceptionally helpful.
The best apartments available in the city of Cairns - family-friendly from young to old. Super happy with the service and rooms provided at Vision Apartments. Rachel Maddocks at reception is always there with a smile and will provide top quality customer service.
We went to Cairns and stayed at Double Tree for 6 nights, the hotel facilities were located by the Esplanade, walking distance to nice restaurants and the lagoon, staff was very attentive, the buffet breakfast was excellent. Happy to have chosen this place.
Hotel has multiple pools and place for kids. Multiple pools, restaurants. Rooms are clean. The hotel is not so far from the city but you still need to call for Uber or taxi to get there. If you book tour you are pick up from hotel. Close to the airport.
Awesome apartment in a top location (direct road to Airport) as well as walikg distance to main centre and Esplanade. Buster makes the stay so more homely with morning and afternoon pats 🥰😘 definitely my new favourite place to stay in Cairns.
The location of the hotel was perfect, so close to Cairns centre, the marina and the Esplanade.
The beds are soooo comfy!! Slept better than ever every night.
The staff were so friendly, so eager to please and help.
The location of this property is its draw card. It is close enough to the city centre and the main attractions of Cairns and is cost-effective when compared to other properties in the same vicinity.
Was a late booking that turned out to be a blessing as our other hotel cancelled on us with 12 hours notice Vision Apartments were superb and a very pleasant surprise
