Slept like a baby. It was very quiet even though so close to the airport and highway! The location is very close to the airport, and they have a shuttle bus available, which made it very easy to get there. All of the staff were very polite and their English was very good. They have a washing machine and dryer available next to the lifts, which was awesome for my friend, she could wash all evening and travel on with fresh clothes. In total, I'd book the hotel again.

Very helpful and friendly manager who went above and beyond in welcoming us, even upgrading us free of charge to an apartment when he realised it would suit us better. Gorgeous pool which the kids loved. Fresh coconuts by the pool. Perfect for our short stay.
Breakfast was more than sufficiant, with two different style pancakes to order, eggs cooked various ways, plantain, fruit salad and more

Cute little town near the airport.
Cute little town near the airport. Probably not a destination, but, if you have a night to kill before flying out, it's fine. Otherwise, there isn't anything I know of to draw visitors. Couple cute restaurants on the main street. Felt safe walking around after dark.

We did more in San Antonio than we expected to do. The church in the center of town was welcoming, and there are a lot of restaurants with good food and service. The bussing to other areas (San Jose and Heredia) is well marked and has an appropriate schedule. Plus, the area felt safe to walk after sunset. Because of its convivence, we extended our hotel stay to stay in the area, and only bussed to San Jose for the day.LynnUnited States - 6.0Scored 6.0

For us La Rivera is a take off and arrival point, so the easy airport access is important. It is an easy walk to a phone store or Pali supermarket for some basics, and the local pista, church and park give you a safe introduction to Costa Rica. There is not much else to do in the immediate area.

We booked it for our last night in Costa Rica and enjoyed it greatly. The surroundings and decor were tasteful. My husband also enjoyed a dip in the pool. A big thank you to the staff members as they were exceptionally nice and helpful - I don't like coriander and the staff members did everything to make sure I would have no coriander in my food. If we go back to Costa Rica we will book a longer stay in this hotel as they also organise wildlife trips.

She was also very kind to let us check into our room early. She also made sure to show us the room and made sure that everything was clean and working well inside. The room was also a great size and it included a full kitchen with appliances. That was a nice bonus. There is also an excellent local restaurant right across the street from the hotel, which was very convenient.
