The lady manager at the desk never met a problem she couldn't fix. She found a taxi that found me on a small street in Portbau. She made sure I knew where everything was I asked about. The cleaning staff did an excellent job. The location of the room was perfect. I watched the beach when I was not swimming. I love the view of the full moon on the ocean for my room. The cost of the room was half what it was worth. The neighborhood was excellent. Less than a mile was restaurants, food stores and clothing stores if you want them. The people on the beach were friendly and very nice. Not much English spoken but the people understand enough to get what you want. I just can't say enough nice stuff about the lady at the front desk.

Very nice, small village next to a beach and sufficiently uncrowded to make it feel quiet and off the tourist track for the Costa Brava. Conveniently on the train line and food and drink not over priced. Some very nice, challenging walks with spectacular views of the Catalan and French coasts and a history that raises it above your average beach town. Be aware that there is only one supermarket in the town and it closes at 7 most nights.
If you are looking for a small, cozy hostel with a lot of Spanish personality, and a lot of local guests at the bar and the restaurant all day - it's a perfect choice - in - maybe the most beautiful Bordertown in Europe. Portbou is unique. Very small, old, Spanish town - with af small beach - and - surrounded - by the Pyrenees. No matter is you want to go north - towards France - or south - towards Spain - it's uphill the Pyrenees. Hostal Juventus is value for money.
the woman who gave us the key was wonderful and very helpful even though we didn't speak Spanish very well. the apartment was very clean and nice, and was also comfortably for the night. everything was wonderful even though I booked last-minute day-of because my friend and I got stranded in Portbou
The Comodoro is an unpretentious hotel which does the basics really well. The owner was friendly and welcoming. The bedroom, although small had a really comfortable bed, a great bath and was exceptionally clean. Breakfast was straightforward but good. Would definitely stay again.
Around 7 minutes walk to station nice room ,friendly staff stored my luggage when went to collioure for day .1 minute walk to beach it's lovely portbou well worth going relaxing place
The staff was friendly, the room clean and it's directly at the beach.
So to be fair, the Hotel is ok, I just would have preffered a hostel or similar.
