Overall, the region was beautiful and there are many lovely towns to visit and much history in the area. Sarlat has a recently updated town square that is quite beautiful. Getting around the town itself is typical of a small French town. Walking is best! I was underwhelmed with the restaurants and the shops. Some areas of the town feel rundown.

It’s such a beautiful city and it has wonderful things to explore within the walls. The whole region around Sarlat is beautiful. Sarlat is the perfect place to rest after a long day exploring other small towns or caves in this gorgeous region. We could have spent two weeks here easily. Take full advantage of the markets on Wednesday and Saturday in Sarlat to get amazing food, and of course, eat at a restaurant and enjoy some amazing wine.

Charming old town, narrow streets, lots of shops, many, many selling local produce, foie gras, etc. Centrally located to visit the highlights of the Dordogne. Many places to dine, seemingly pretty much the same menus everywhere except in a couple of higher end restaurants. It is hilly. Parking very hard, everywhere is payant, get the APP.

Sarlat was an amazing town and a great place to visit. Plenty of restaurants and bars, friendly people and lots of history. We could have stayed longer but only to explore the surrounding areas.
Will definitely stay again

Politeness and a smile opens many doors, I don't speak French well, but was very pleased at how friendly and polite the people were. I mean all the people not just the ones that are getting some financial benefit from you.
Basically, be nice, don't be an ass, and you won't get treated like one.
Take a moment to look at how many men these small towns lost during WWI, must have been devistating.

An excellent location, just in the middle of Sarlat old town, next to all the amazing restaurants. The apartment is spot-less, tastily decorated and its balcony is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of high-quality French wine.
The hosts are simply lovely and they have shown us where one can park the car for free, which are some places where one can swim in Dordogne and so on.
As for Sarlat La Caneda : This is the place to stay to explore the Perigord area.
The location is great. It has a free parking lot so you can just leave the car at the hotel and it’s only a 8-10 min walk to downtown Sarlat. The rooms are spacious. Everything looks clean and new. The air conditioning works great, and so does the wifi! Best wifi we’ve had our whole trip. The staff is welcoming and helpful. And the breakfast buffet is amazing! It’s all-you-can-eat, has a great variety of foods to chose from, and it’s all very good quality.
1.Excellent position to access centre of Sarlat on foot.
2.High standard of furnishing and equipment.
3.Very big garden space for children
4. Well equipped and maintained pool.
5.Annie and Michel (parents of owner but in charge during our stay) were charming, friendly and responded more quickly and effectively to any small problem than could be expected in a five star hotel
The location -a little way out of Sarlat-la-canéda so best to have a car, but meant it was very peaceful and cool. Our check in was friendly and professional as were all the staff. The pool fantastic. The terrace and restaurant both very pleasant - choice of regional dishes nicely presented. Our bedroom comfortable.
Very clean hotel and room, that also goes for the breakfast (where, however, the breakfast-room might need some decoration :) Other than that, everything was really good, nice and helpful staff (that didn't try to talk me into costly parking options, for example, but was very helpful pointing out free parking options).
The location was perfect, 2 minutes from the centre of Sarlat. The information sent prior to arrival by Sabine, was exceptional and we used much of it to guide us through our short break in such a lovely place. I live in France and wanted to show friends around the area and Sarlat.Catalina enhanced the experience.
loved the decor. the room was a lot more spacious to what we have been used to during our travels across France. and the bed was super comfortable ! also loved the fact that there was free parking just up the street - super convenient. even in august we always found a park easily
This hotel offered great value for the money. It was extremely clean, easily accessed, had very fresh, crisp linens, and a comfortable bed. The towels were huge! A little treat for us was the TV, offering movies in English, something not always available in French hotels.
This was probably the prettiest apartment I have stayed at in France. The living space was exceptionally roomy. It felt like we were staying in a chateau. The bedrooms were comfortable. All the appliances were top notch. I would definitely come back to stay here. Magical.
A spacious room, unpretentious yet attractive and practical. Lovely shower room. 5 minute walk from the centre of beautiful Sarlat. Polite and responsive staff. Easy parking in front of hotel (free from 1 Nov to ?) Good value at approx €100 per night.
Beautiful room which was very clean with wonderful view - the children slept on the sofa bed which was also very comfy.
Fab breakfast to start the day.
It was the perfect location to adventure through the beautiful Sarlat-la-Caneda.
Beautiful castle not far from Sarlat la Caneda. We love the place where it is located. It has a swimming pool and it was great to chill there when the temperature was almost 40 degrees.
It’s very quiet and the room was comfortable.
Oasis in the middle of Sarlat old town. Very comfortable room & bed, great shower etc , good a/c, quiet. Breakfast was also very good. Hotel is a short walk to the main square where they have a lovely food market on Saturday's
The proprietor was extremely helpful with dinner suggestions and also emergency room information when I needed stitches. Hotel was nice and quiet but still close to town.
Excellent breakfast, beautiful property and friendly helpful hosts. Would have loved to stay longer! An ideal place for adventures in the Dordogne valley.
The location could not be better. La Lanterne is at the heart of the medieval city, actually on the recommended walk according to the Rick Steve’s guide.
Anne Marie was the most welcoming and helpful individual we have met in a hotel. Pool was a bonus. Access to Sarlat by car very simple - 3 minute drive
