The Pride of Wales
Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.
Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.
From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.
Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.
Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.

St Fagans living museum was great and loved the castles.
St Fagans living museum was great and loved the castles. Visited Cardiff Bay but otherwise there wasn’t more than 2 days worth of sights. There are more things to do as day trips but can be done from a less busy area than Cardiff. There was a great bit of traffic.

Cardiff is a wonderful city.
Cardiff is a wonderful city. The people are very friendly, and it is a lovely place just to walk around. It's relatively small, so it's easy to navigate, and it has a A LOT of pubs, and bars. The sun came out on one of the days we were there, and I think everyone within 5 miles came out too, but it just made for a great day. Everyone was just enjoying themselves. I would highly recommend it for a weekend away.

There is plenty of things to do in Cardiff for any age...
There is plenty of things to do in Cardiff for any age groups, Cardiff bay is lovely with places to eat and drink, walking around the bay looking at the monuments and visiting the Norwegian Church Arts Centre for a lovely coffee and cake, or meal and hand made gifts, or you could find the enormous crocodile?? or take a boat ride.
Cardiff city centre has a lovely choice of shops and bars as well as Bute park with visitors centre and coffee shop for a relaxing time on a sunny day or the National museum of Cardiff, there is so much to do and well worth a visit
The location of the hotel was excellent. Just 10 minutes walking into the city centre and 5 minutes in the car to Cardiff bay. There was enough parking and it didn't cost too much. Good choices for breakfast and great bar for having drinks in the evening. We ate out so can't comment on the restaurant menu. The room was a good size for the three of us. The best thing about the Novotel was the indoor swimming pool. The pool was warm and the area around was clean and towels were provided. The gym was also well equiped.
Lovely room on the quieter side of the hotel. Easy walk to the Cardiff bay area and its attractions and nightlife. An approx 30 minute easy flat walk in to Cardiff city centre so could leave the car at the hotel to visit the parks, museums and castle - countless shops and the lovely historic market hall which was a highlight for us!! All staff we encountered at the hotel were lovely and the room was comfortable and clean on arrival.
The location was perfect for me and my family, the property is very close to the Bay and also City centre. As you can imagine having 2 toddlers and a 7 year space is needed when staying away so this was perfect for us. The host was really helpful and messaged us a list of things we can do with the kids around Cardiff some for free. Clean property and will 100% return again.
Perfect location for the city centre as well as Cardiff Bay as well as the train station. Bars/restaurants/shops/castle/parks were easily walkable and on your doorstep.
There was a slight mix up with the room I booked but a lovely member of staff managed to sort out a perfect room despite the hotel being extremely busy.
The photos do not do it justice! The apartment itself was massive and had all the facilities you would need on your stay. There is a shop right across the road too in case you ever need anything. It's about 5-10 minutes from the bay and 5-10 minutes from the city centre! It is the perfect and quiet location for any stay!
We were given a free 'upgrade' to a passable and functional room. Big enough. Warm. Cardiff is an expensive place to stay in the city centre and whilst not overall vfm , compared to other city centre hotels this was one of the cheapest. Great bar and music almost next door. Cheap parking. Good helpful staff.
We had a brilliant stay - the Executive room was perfect for our family of 4. We enjoyed the swimming pool, sauna and steam and the excellent breakfast (especially the pancake machine!). We were also impressed with how much Cardiff has to offer - shops, crazy golf, the castle and the Bay. We will be back!
Wonderful buffet breakfast! Beautiful views of CARDIFF life and the ever -changing structures of the old town.
Friendly people. Architectures that were so beautiful. The bay and castle are must-sees.
A changing city with big ideas. Very busy place.
Great location. The hotel was about midway between Cardiff City centre and The Bay. Quiet area . Great room with a small kitchen area, which meant it was more like a home from home. Breakfast was included, which was a buffet with plenty of choice.
Very clean, all facilities working, good location distance wise walk into Cardiff Bay and city centre. Directly opposite Cardiff Bay train station. Hosts great at communicating, really helpful and quick at responding. Would definitely stay again.
Fab location if you’re wanting city centre, and few min drive from Cardiff bay. And really good breakfast £15 for 2 parking below hotel was convenient if you can find a space as it’s small. But Still David’s car park is only few minutes away
The location is good, close to the center and Cardiff bay. Hotel has a big parking. I heard nothing from outside and it's wonderful. Staff was kind and when i didn't understand something they repeated and explained more. Thank you!
Excellent city centre location, 5 mins from train station and everything you may need while staying in Cardiff. Room clean, but sparsely furnished, very helpful staff, good breakfast.
