Absolutely undoubted location. Best view ever and best in Val d’ Orcia. Old castle and great territory. Warm natural bath is a magnet. Above all expectations.
Hotel Vecchia Oliviera is located in the historic center of the city of Brunello and stands next to Porta Cerbaia, one of the six ancient gates to the city of Montalcino.

We cooked dinner there in the big kitchen

Montalcino is a quiet hill town that we love returning to often. We love walking all around town. A 4 hour hike gets you to Sant' Antimo Abbey and then you can take the bus back to town. We love eating at Il Moro and at Osteria di Porta al Cassero as well as Re di Macchia. Great town at the winter holidays!

We stayed in Montalcino two nights, which was about right for people who like wine but aren’t fanatics. Drove all over, got lost, went to Montepulciano (very crowded, steep and hard to get to—was very glad we stayed in Montalcino instead!) enjoyed the Abbey de Sant Altimo south of town, not overrun by people.

If you wish to visit Tuscany, Montalcino is the ideal place to stay. It's a lovely, attractive village with plenty of places to eat and drink. This region also has a lot of good restaurants. It is nevertheless quite close to other important towns and sites that are far more touristic, so I would recommend this area if you want to have a lot of options without being in the most touristic and busy locations around.

Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants.
Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants. Right in the best wine area in Italy. You will love it! Re di Macchia Restorante was so good. The best Florentine steak we ever had. Good prices and the owner Antonio gave us round after round of free Limincello and grappa. He is the best!!!!
The swimming pool is so beautiful, with a great view of the vineyards and the olive trees! One of a kind!
The room is so big, and for our family of 3 it was perfect! The room has everything you need to feel comfortable!
The staff was so attentive! The wine tasting at the hotel is great. I'd recommend to everyone!
The breakfast was so good, it's worth the extra 15 euros, there was real orange juice with local products and amazing pastries and breads.
This is my second time staying at the hotel. I am a foreigner living in Italy and am absolutely in love with the views from the rooms. They are clean and the staff was super friendly. They knew I was a solo traveler and made sure to help me with parking and directions to navigate through the town. Of special note was the receptionist Mariangela who made me feel like family and was very warm and kind throughout my stay.
Great house located on the Main Street with a beautiful view. Rooms are great and very comfortable. Simone is great and informative about Montalcino, he took me to my car to pick up my bag in the pouring rain as the street the house is located on you cannot drive down without a permit. He then had me follow him in my car to the free parking lot before bringing me back to the accomodation. Lovely and hospitable guy!
This is a lovely cozy B & B located 20 m from Cattedrale del Santissimo Salvatore, right in Montalcino centro storico. The room we got was clean and comfortable, bathroom the same. The host is very friendly and warm and will prepare for you a frugal breakfast just as tasty and good as in many hotels in Tuscany. You'll also receive from them a voucher allowing you to park for free on Viale Strozzi.
We loved everything here. Located near by the centre of Montalcino and only about 100 m away from Eroica start. Apart from the erocia event weekend there was a quiet and very relaxing atmosphere in the house and garden. We really enjoyed it to walk only a few minutes to the centre. Coop is also nearby. We will surely come back! Thanks to the excellent hosts of Villa Stella!
Comfortable rooms with a nice view to the fortress! Very friendly & helpful staff! Amazing breakfast with home made cereals, cakes & buiscuits! Breakfast is avaiable on the terrasse - perfect start to a wonderful day in Montalcino. PS. Free parking space 5mins foot walk from the hotel (you get the free parking admission at the front desk).
Located within the centre of Montalcino, and just a short walk to Piazza del Popolo, Montalcino's central square, Il Palazzo del Cardinale is a very comfortable and well-appointed hotel with clean and comfortable rooms and facilities. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, and the hotel represents quite good value for money.
Beautiful architecture and incredible rooms. The hotel is a cozy paradise in the middle of Toscana. The staff (Karla and Giulia) were incredibly nice and tried to accommodate most of our needs. They let us check in early (around noon), but highly recommend everyone else to try to stick to their 4pm check in time.
An impeccably maintained property in the heart of Montalcino with amazing and spacious rooms. The staff provided exceptional service; everyone was incredibly courteous, going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Special mention to Vito, the head manager, for his outstanding hospitality.
Very helpful and kind staff. We parked our car in front of the hotel and they offered valet parking at a safe location. Montalcino is tiny, so location wise it was great. The apartment was just like home, kitchenette, washing machine, fridge, etc. everything was there. Very nice breakfast.
The view from the room was breathtaking. You can see Montalcino and Val d' Orcia from the room. Old and historic hotel, but very clean and renovated. I loved the old furniture. The restaurant in the hotel is wonderful and definately worth a visit.
Hotel was similar to an upscale B&B in the US, but with a unique charm and beauty only found in Tuscany. was nice, but not pretentious.
Breakfast and Dinner was outside everyday overlooking the vineyards. Plan to return again.
Great Hotel in the centre of town although the accommodation is part of the main hotel 50mts down the road, you have to leave your accommodation to attend breakfast
the breakfast was very good
Loved the breakfast, very tasty. The owners were very kind, gentle and professional. The room was spacious, and the hotel really comfortable and pretty. Will definitely return!
Amazing staff, impeccable property, delicious breakfast, ideal location in the stunning town of Montalcino. Can'y recommend this place enough for a cute holiday.
