Pongwe Bay Resort, hotel in Pongwe

Pongwe Bay Resort is located on Pongwe Beach. This beachfront resort is surrounded by a lush and tropical garden, white sand beach and a swimming pool.

For solitude it is great. The spa is wonderful but for activities, there's absolutely nothing to do. It's an hour drive to everything. The property always provided transportation when requested. The tour operator on site will customize anything you want. The low tide is so far out, you can't swim in the ocean. It's a nice property with one restaurant but I wanted activities and the ability to swim in the ocean. The staff was wonderful!!

Seasons Lodge Zanzibar, hotel in Pongwe

Featuring a private beach area, Seasons Lodge Zanzibar is a hotel in Pongwe offering water sports facilities and garden. The property also features an outdoor swimming pool.

The cottage rooms are exceptionally good value for Zanzibar - they are spacious, right on the beach and incredibly private. The food is good and the beach is quiet without beach boys which is a huge plus.

Karibu Beach Resort, hotel in Pongwe

Located in Pongwe, a few steps from Pongwe Beach, Karibu Beach Resort provides accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

This resort seems as if it’s brand new; every detail has been considered. The staff is stellar, going out of their way to make you feel welcome. The included breakfast is delicious and you are Literally steps from the beach. I had a partial ocean view room and was upgraded for my last two nights- both rooms were great but the ocean view, which was visible from the bed, was great. It’s a fantastic getaway location.

Pongwe is an isolated beach, at low tide the sea is very far away and, even at high tide, it is very shallow - you cannot swim. Kiwengwa beach, next door (10 minutes by car) is much better, more lively, with many shops and good hotels.

There is not much to do in the local area other than visit other hotel resorts. We did visit a local school to make a donation and I would advise bringing something with you to donate e.g notebooks, sweets, money

Small remote holiday village with the white sand beach but not having good beach maintenance (seaweed, some dirt on the beach). Little bit far from anything in Zanzibar (far from Stone city and airport, far from spectacular Nungwi and Paje beach). No bars, restaurants, shops and infrastructure outside the holiday resort due to remote location and low density of tourists.

At first sight you can say....what to do here ?....no shops, just some local fruits selling points, no crowded areas, less traffic than anywhere but more nature than anywhere around. It's exactly the opposite comparing with Paje. If you need a quiet, family friendly, uncrowded spot.....ask for Pongwe. And if you want to understand why I'm saying these....just go on Pongwe beach when low tide is there.

I did not visit Pongwe town.

I did not visit Pongwe town. I stayed in a luxury boutique hotel north of the town as I like a quiet holiday. The only problem was the tide leaving an unattractive expanse of muddy rocks. The hotel's pontoon helped with access to the sea when the tide was high.

The accommodation and restaurant in Weavers Lodge was outstanding and the beach was idyllic. The tide tends to be out until about 3pm (July/Aug stay) and there are some sharp rocks - if your feet are particularly fragile, water shoes are a good idea. We cycled to the next village - an enjoyable afternoon trip. Very friendly locals.

Thé beach Is only 1 min walk From the hôtel but there is a lot of sea Grass. I enjoyed thé wonderful sunset over there. I stayed as a single person for an overnight visit. It was the perfect size and space for what I needed. Very clean and comfortable. I originally booked a single, but was upgraded to a double. I think it would have definitely on the small side if I were sharing that space it another person, though. The hotel staff was very kind and accommodating.

The villa with the private pool was amazing. Very large with a very big terrace. Clean and large pool. You could see the ocean while sleeping on the bed. Beautiful infinity pool. Very private clean beach and amazingly clear waters. We got the last villa on the walkway which gave us the utmost privacy, thanks Pongwe beach hotel.

Staff very nice and will do extra things to help. Generally peaceful, although some noise from neighbouring hotels. Nice having bushbabies around and lots of trees. Easy to chat with other people staying. Restaurant area is nice, next to the sea, good breeze from the sea to keep cool. Felt relaxed and safe.

It is a new hotel, with clean spacious rooms and a spacious shower. The room has international plugs and USB ports. The prawn curry was delicious. It has a beautiful beach, and I enjoyed the cool music by the pool during the day. Rama, the airport transfer driver was on time and professional.
